The biggest issue with voiced PCs in games like this is that they're unimmersive and heavily limit the kinds of characters you can play unless massive work is done and money is spent to make it work. You'd need a selection of different VAs for both genders to really provide a decent selection of options for everyone and then just being able to read your own dialogue choices would probably be a better bet anyway.
Another issue is the voice actress for Nora (Fallout 4 Femc) demanded the Nexus take down any mods using AI to replicate her voice and even though Bethesda owned the rights and she had no grounds the Nexus cucked and did so.

Bethesda knows how important modding is to the long term success of their games. Not having a voiced PC prevents shit like this from happening.

She also said that she is the "first female protagonist of Fallout"...despite literally every Fallout game letting you play as women, that includes that awful 6th gen Brotherhood of Steel title.
Were there any backups of the good mods?

Lol.
Imagine being bitchy in all the voices she gave (remember; she's Jack from ME2/ME3).

She didn't have the rights to the voice work done for fallout 4 itself, but AI generated voices muddy the water because this is new work not affiliated with bethesda or her, simulating her voice. Work she did not give consent to use or create, used for a commercial product. She very likely does have the right to demand nexus remove them as they were generated without authorization and are a deliberate simulation of her voice specifically. Its not a court case you'd want to be on the wrong end of if she decided to sue, so they were doing the smart thing by removing those mods. At least from a legal standpoint

All the voice actors were completely fine with mods using rudimentary AI back when the best modders had was xVASynth, but now that AI stuff actually sounds like a human they are sneeding.

Out of all the AI seething I've seen VAs are by far the most entitled and obnoxious about it.

The mod itself is not a commercial product, nor included in anything Bethesda did, like how GOG bundled a bunch of mods in Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition. Her argument is flimsy at best.

Now what isn't flimsy is all the mods behind a paygate on Patreon. Those guys are fucked on the first court case.

Man, i just found the traits.
Why seems so lame? Alien DNA is probably the only worthwhile.
New Vegas handled that part much better, wtf.

What about Morrowind and Oblivion?
Never played them. To be honest, I bought Skyrim off a dude that looked like a methhead in high school and hated it immediately and wrote it off. Didn't play more than 20 minutes. I think something was wrong that the graphics were all fucked, but it was also gay because it didn't have any guns. Anyways, I only included Skyrim as a sop to people who like it.

I've been wondering if I haven't missed out, though. I remember a math teacher from high school who would play it while we did work. (In hindsight, he may have been a shitty a teacher. We all thought he was cool because of it.) I learned you could gather butterflies in it and for some reason that made a huge impression on me. Every now and then I remember Skyrim and I'm like, "oh yeah, the butterfly collecting game."

Damn, that's her? They sure nailed that typecasting for ME2/ME3 then! Jack is such an insufferable cunt of a character and her awful voice is part of it (the anti-hero super-psychic daddy issues plus edgelord tattoos shtick is the other).

I'm going to have to agree. I couldn't put in more than 30 minutes into Skyrim, but I got into Dark Souls (PS3) at around 2017 and I was hooked.

Voiced protagonists can work when the point is playing a well-defined protagonist with room for the player to change things here or there, but in a game where the point is that you can conceivably play any kind of character it doesn't work as well.

BG3 seems to have it mostly figured out where they put a narrator in to fill in text and reactions for the PC so the zoomies don't blow up their brains with too much reading or have to think too hard about what is happening around them.

This kind of crap makes me hope AI voice generation takes off in games someday. I like having a voiced protagonist, and it would be nice to just have the AI generate the voices to make it easier to have as much dialogue as they want.

That won't fix the crap writing though.

I dislike voiced protagonists, but being able to properly craft a voice for your protagonist is an interesting concept. They've had some where you can fuck with pitch and tone, but it's not the same.

Why are generic space pirates called spacers? Was "pirate" or "bandit" or "scrapper" not SPACE enough or something? It's like if you called pirates "sailors" or TES bandits "adventurers". What do they even call generic spacefaring people?

Black and/or gay

LOL that this thread on Todd's "magnum opus" hasn't had any comments in a week.

I finally finished hate-playing this abomination on game pass today. It truly saddens me that so much time, work, and money was put into creating this game, which is a soy-infused ultra-woke turd. I loved the Fallout series, as it felt like an escape from the Clown World we live in to someplace more interesting. I even enjoyed Fallout 4, and I still look back fondly on my time spent with the like of Piper, Cait, Hancock, and Nick Valentine. This game though, I can't forget fast enough.

In Soyfield, if an NPC is going to be intelligent and civilized, you can bet they'll be black, even if they're Russian or the child of two white people. If an NPC is in a relationship, it's at least an even bet that it'll be homosexual. In no cases can you kill any of them. My title for this game would be "Coons on the Moon", but I think one youtuber summed it up best - this is Clown Galaxy.

Edited to add: Bethesda is individually replying to negative game reviews of Starfield on Steam. It's really kind of sad.
