I thoroughly enjoyed my last playthrough. It doesn't have as much variation and choice as I would like for an RPG of this scope, but it is a very solid 100 hours or so of content. What he's showing now? It actually looks pretty stable and, dare I say it, fun. Is the game worth picking up now that it is "fixed
They got worse over time. Granted, on a deep level, their worlds are always broken. But Skyrim's setting, worldspace, and central conflicts are all very compelling. Fallout 3 also has a very excellent vibe and atmosphere, as well as a few solid characters.Starfield's problems go way beyond the engine, it's that the world just sucks. I know Emil's been the popular whipping boy, but their problems go way beyond him. Bugthesda's games just have terrible world building. I'll give some examples
Fallout 4 had the rot set in. The Institute actually, literally, has no reason to do anything they do. They have zero motivation. They just couldn't be fucked to explain it, but at least there are some interesting ideas to play with. Synth espionage, war, the brotherhood of steel.
But Starfield... Doesn't even have that. Making their own totally unique and brand new IP meant they couldn't rely on the creations of the infinitely more talented to prop up their utterly banal worldbuilding and writing.
What can the DLC even BE? Another faction to do a boring questline for? The game's central plot make doing anything but grinding out magic rocks functionally pointless because your universe just resets endlessly.Bethcucks still think we'll be getting some amazing DLC that will fix everything and then Creation Kit will be released publicly.
Multiverse settings utterly annihilate investment in any kind of story told within a setting because you know that none of it really matters.
