STARSECTOR - Best $15 you'll ever spend

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
2; The Moderators of USC (The discord) also went out of their way to contact the Devs of starsector to try and get Iron Lion totally depersoned from the community.
That part is the craziest to me. It was obvious they tacitly if not openly approved of what PMD did and they were clearly unrepentant in how they treated Lion over the situation with the Iron Shell video. But trying to get Alex involved like that is absolutely unhinged and horrifying. I just hope no more bullshit comes from that cancerous part of the community.

Edit: For a lot of people even in this forum, anime and shipgirl stuff is probably just cringe coomer shit. I get it and I don't really use those mods myself. But the USC people are so obnoxious, I hope they seethe about anime forever. No weeb dev ever put crashcode or malware into their mod or someone else's. (Unless there's some drama I'm unaware of, you never know with this community)

These malware wars between Starsector users are...Something.

I remember back in the DooM community mod others would install annoying but harmless prank scripts if people tried to run their mods with Brutal DooM, but that was because BD users were being annoying and entitled and beggy about mod compatability.

This is far more malicious and prevalent. So annoying and sad seeing nerds live down to toxic stereotypes and then wonder why the world hates them.

Oh, this drama got summarized, nice.

At this point I run Starsector with internet access cut off via Firejail, under a user with no sudo permissions, and with limited disk access.

Maybe this isn't enough. Maybe next petty modders will develop
multiplatform malware exploiting zero-days (like vidya modders would be that skilled, but they could still script kiddie it)

Not sure if this is intentional, but in the same system as the Cataclysm there was this fully intact (suspicious colored) Paragon orbiting the main star. Catacylsm's spawn is completely random iirc so it could just be a coincidence. I haven't touched it, it's completely d-mod free and fully armed. I'll certainly take it. Apparently it's named...TTS boymoder...yeah this is a tranny Paragon isn't it?
The correct play here would have been to salvage it, rename it the TTS Transitional Janissary, and spec it out as a suicide ship.

If they did I'm sure it would have come up, they already tried to go straight to the devs to get Iron Lion banned, I'm positive they'd be digging through code to try and find anything even close to crash code to get mods pulled.
Annoyance at weeb mods can be understandable, but it seems obvious the USC fags aren't annoyed about their existence as much as they have a vendetta that they even exist, almost like their mad Anime mods are more widely accepted than Furry mods or something.

Going to give it a try later, deep in my current modded save and I have family over. Can't wait to break the Anubis, though!

A bit late, but Cold Waters (Sub SIM set in a cold war gone hot scenario) had two big mods that added quite a number of content, Epicmod and Dotmod
Epicmod dev is Russian so naturally his impulse was to scrape Dotmod assets and pass them off as his own
Then Dotmod did one better and made it so that any Epicmod file detected will nuke Dotmod

When dealing with the late game enemies, are you just expected to build a hyper-optimized fleet or else there is no point even trying? I tend to have mixed results and I'm wondering if I'm just retarded.

Am I the only one who finds
Threat
harder to fight than
Shroud
?

I use pretty much the same fleet for everything, although it goes pretty hard into kinetic weapons and point defense already.

The new ship, the Anubis, is really good at both taking down shields and deleting missiles and fighters with the right officer but tends to crumple if it can't retreat before overheating.

What do you use on the Anubis that makes it good at dealing with shields? My build is awful against shields. I let other ships pressure shields and when the enemy is open I hit them with a HIL or IR autolances.

ships have the armor of low tech ships and the flux stats of high tech ships. That alone in my opinion makes them more difficult than
shroud
.

>Playing the game with a hyper-optimized fleet
>Not just throwing whatever ship fits in your fleet and working with it
You can beat just about anyone with heavily unoptimized shit if you know what you're doing or you have some gimmicks. You can have a fleet of fucked up, barely working ships but if you and your officers are insane enough you can come out...alive. Just alive. Ludd.mp4. If you're having trouble, it could either be you, your character's skills, fitting the wrong officers with the wrong ships, or all of the above.

nigger.
also what was the deal with spacerpg? can a port of that game be made into starsector without gay bullshit killing it? since spacerpg4 main dev called it quits.
