STARSECTOR - Best $15 you'll ever spend

Ya know if you really think about it. Starsector is actually just one gigantic galactic real grift war. Pretty based.
"See those guys? They're pretending to be the Domain, but not us, we're better than the Domain. Ignore the fact that our economy is in shambles and our military is questionable."

Having read through this thread again it's disappointing to see how insane the clustered Starsector community is. I could guess easily enough that Alex was a bit of a progressive but given that the official forums are somehow worse than reddit it makes me wonder if he's secretly Caves of Qud tier or just totally detached from the community.

In what way?

Alex is 100% a progressive btw, because he did that gay reddit thing where he dumped Xitter for Bluesky. He may not have made a huge dog and pony show over it like the furry retards, but he shown his colours enough.

Oh absolutely, people have made a point about it before. I think it's because Alex didn't put a stand for what should and should not be tolerated earlier enough, he still doesn't until it's extremely late (the malware incident). And since indie games are swarming with troons and far leftist faggots it's not wonder the official shit is so awful. Not to say the unofficial shit is good but it's leagues ahead of the forum. I even remember there being a dicksword that is as pro-free speech as possible on that platform. I'd argue he's less Qud and more detached since he rarely ever talks politics or anything that isn't involving his work. Not sure about his jannies but he himself rarely interacts with the community at large. Even his Bluesky, that leftist shithole, is pretty tame last I checked.
I can't think of another community I've seen where a modder deliberately inserted code to sabotage save files if the mod detects you're using another mod that offended the modder ideologically.
I think there may have been a few, I mean malware in mods is not new but I rarely ever seen people make crash code and whatnot to spite someone (or in this case multiple people) who did something they don't like. In fact the only time I've ever seen this was with an older Minecraft addon to Tinker's Construct called "plustic" made by "Landmaster." He made crash code for someone specific he didn't like but nothing else, even then it wasn't to the extent of the rapesector incident. I'd argue the larger Starsector community has done quite a number of things I've rarely seen from any community, in the most negative way possible. I remember that one Starsector YouTuber (IroncladLion?) getting attacked by them and banned off the """unofficial""" dicksword for like...a 3 second joke. Then there's Ymfah, that based motherfucker, who just randomly made a Starsector video, and just started making mods and trolling the "usual suspects," including removing crash code from mods and posting them somewhere else.

Haven't watched his content in ages but that alone earns my respect.

Any overhaul mods that would make trade and colonization more rewarding? Also interested in any mods that add ships that are balanced and in line with vanilla fleets.

Am I the only one who doesn't like anime portraits being used in most big mods for this game? The art styles clash too hard with eachother IMO, either make it all anime or none of it.
It's annoying. Shoi at least recognized how jarring they are and just made them optional in Arma Armatura.

Nexerelin is probably the most "overhaul" mod out there which also touches upon both trade and colonization. Dynamic Tariffs is also a good choice since it makes tariffs increase/decrease depending on faction reputation, meaning you need to smuggle less often just to get a good price. For colonization specifically, there's a bunch. Industrial Evolution (IndEvo), Ashes of the Domain (AotD), Terraforming and Station Construction, DIY Planets, Grand Colonies, RAT I believe touches on that (but I mostly know it for it's abyss content), and as a bonus one that might not fit your criteria since it's not balanced, Astral Ascension.

As for ships balanced around vanilla...God there's so few balanced ones. Xhan empire I guess? HMI probably. Definitely Roider Union...last I checked at least. Underworld, Ko Combine, Ship/Weapon pack, not much else I know of. The general consensus with mods in Starsector (and honestly every modding scene) is
>mods
>Balanced

Pick one.
Guess if everything is OP then nothing is OP...

I didn't know that Ironclad Lion drew cartoons of Null and Lidl Drip.

It eventually happens in any games with mods. Kenshi comes to mind because Genesis has stirred so much drama and retardation.

I'm glad Lion was able to compile this nonsense into a single video for easy viewing. Even learned a couple things I missed. Just wish I could be shocked by all this.

Reactions: Computer God Autism
The video included 3 really funny/interesting tidbits.
1: The Moderators of the Discord went and edited the ban message log to change the original ban message, since it directly accused Lion of promoting rape. They did the same with the ban message they sent to Iron Lion, which also supposedly accused him of having the evil hacker known as 4chan brigade the discord in his honor.
2; The Moderators of USC (The discord) also went out of their way to contact the Devs of starsector to try and get Iron Lion totally depersoned from the community.
3: President Matt Damon, the modder who started this whole drama, was almost certainly friends and in league with the Mods of USC.

But the funniest thing of all, the real retarded cherry on top of this autism pie, is that the entire drama seemed to be spurred from the fact USC is ran by Furries who are mad Anime exists.
