I think it mentioned somewhere that since it's an alternate history, people are more used to weird stuff. Like the ocean disappeared and they were just worried about the town instead of how impossible it was.

Good point. I mean it's a cartoon so oblivious people (especially adults) are gonna be kind of commonplace but then at the same time it posits some of this stuff in a more serious manner (like Connie's mom in general) which feels weird alongside them not recognizing fantasy shit

I've never really cared about about how "progressive" things are in general but I realized shortly afterwards that Tumblr is probably going to have a field day with this.

Yeah, probably will bring back the "Steven is ~trans~ uwu" crap, but I didn't see it as progressive so much as being able to identify with Steven at that moment, not just in fixing a mistake made but also in being feminine and a guy. It's been something I've seen little of shown positively in the media.

oh please. Western toon dressing up in drag. Bugs Bunny did the same shit 70 years ago and you hear no one handling Chuck Jones a medal for that.
