I hate to break up the conversation but new leaked audio dropped: https://www.reddit.com/r/SULeaks/co...urce=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
This is important to note because it confirms a rumor going around; Steven tries to propose to Connie Ruby style and gets BTFO’d. With this in mind, some other rumors are mostly confirmed.
-Greg’s van is crushed thanks to Steven and Greg ends up in the hospital (Seriously what is their problem with Greg?)
-Spinel and the Diamonds are now “craftswomen” who focus on healing gems (Progress I guess?)
-Steven gets corrupted and possibly brings back the Cluster (Oh wow, yet another twist everyone saw coming)
-Steven eventually decides to leave Beach City in order to “find himself”.

Yeah, this is totally a story that needed to be told in 20 episodes.

>Having the titular fucking character who has spent the whole series whining about love and sparing villains turn completely corrupt during the last handful of episodes.

Quality writing, Sugar. Truly on par with the likes of Paul Dini, Genndy Tartakovsky, and Aaron Ehasz.

I liked it. I thought it had a lot of interesting ideas and I was willing to stick with it until it revealed a twist that I just thought was fucking bullshit because people saw it coming from a mile away. So no, I don't love it, but it's not because I don't "get" it. I had higher expectations for it, and that, along with the fanbase, I was finally fed up.
Man watching the fandom implode in on itself like that was a fun day. Everyone kept bitching at the people saying this twist was inevitable, while everyone else in the main fandom patted themselves on the back, saying there's no way the show would pull a plot twist that dumb given the show's high quality standards. And then when that episode dropped, you had all the Pink/Rose people come out shoving it in everyone's faces, whilst the fandom tried desperately to make it seem like this was somehow still a genius move by Sugar when really it added horrific context to an already horrific situation.

Speaking of which:

Can I just go on record and say that I nearly fucking called it?
Just replace White Diamond in that whole thing with Steven, and you got almost beat for beat what I predicted would end up happening. Course, them going the extra mile and having him bringing back the Cluster and having the Diamonds/Spinel become ol' craftswomen grannies was a whole 'nother level of exceptional that I wasn't expecting, and is just the icing on top of this shit cake.

10/10. Best series. Amazing writing. Truly Rebecca is the greatest writer known to man woman gayspacerockkind; the next Shakespeare no doubt.

What amazes me is that Sugar thinks that THIS is what little kids want to see--all the couples breaking up, our main character's lovable father fucked in every which way, our main character (The one they're supposed to be relating to btw) completely losing his mind and making the worst choices, etc.

Stupid stunted woman-child fanbase aside, this is a show for kids. And yet the way this series is wrapping up has pretty much nothing kids would find hopeful or charming. It's a black hole of lazy writing and forced themes that will go completely over their heads because kids want to watch a coming-of-age hero's journey and not a stupid mental illness story written by hack tumblr writers that have no idea what tone or pacing is. Yeah, I get that the show is supposed to be challenging them with adult concepts but I've spent countless posts discussing how ATLA pulled it off much better so see that for reference. Kids wouldn't find this stuff appealing. Little boys would be put off by the fact that Steven is too much of a wimp to take proper action and little girls would be pissed to shit that all the romances between some of the series' prime couples are falling to pieces in the most unnecessary, heartless ways imaginable.

I just can't believe they're going full Eva and are not only leaving all of Beach City and Earth in disrepair and turmoil through a cataclysmic event like the Cluster reemerging, but also having Steven go full on corrupted and turn into some sick worm creature for the rest of his life because his attempt to find himself completely backfired...and that that's how they're supposedly gonna end the series. For any kids watching, I imagine that's gonna fuck them up something fierce, seeing this hero and beacon of good from the original series just become some horrific Lovecraftian beast through his inherited temper.

I mean, to an extent, I have to respect them on principle for having the balls (or lack thereof) to just go full scorched-earth on everything they've worked up to up to this point, and just completely and utterly fuck everything, but it's the same respect that I give the likes of The Rise of Skywalker. In that I am just blown away at how shit got this bad, this fast, and for everything to be under this much disrepair.

What the fuck is with their seeming obsessive hatred of Greg? Jesus Christ. The one character in the show who actually feels more like a real person and they just treat him like dirt.

Because he "stole" Rose from them. Garnet never seemed bothered by him, just Amethyst and Pearl.

yes, let it end badly to then see the shitstorm in social media. it'll be Game of Thrones ending 2.0.
As amazing as that would be, everyone, from tumblr to reddit to even 4chan, have been dickriding Future since it aired. No matter how it ends, people will be praising it as brave and stunning and one of the best shows of the decade. Just look at Adventure Time.

I've still never understood the insane amount of praise Adventure Time receives. I tried to watch the show but holy hell I just could not force myself to give a shit about any of it. Didn't help that the theme annoyed the shit out of me, either.

The first seasons were pretty decent. At the time it was just a fun relaxing show rather than anything dramatic or plot driven.

The show was definitely better at hinting at a deeper story than delivering.

The first season ended on a good note and was on the right track to actually becoming something interesting and action-oriented. It's literally everything that happens afterwards that sent the whole thing spiraling out of control imo. Not to mention that's around the time the tumblr shit became more and more prominent.

The Rose=Pink was the killing blow. And when you know that spoiler, the whole rest of the show falls apart with hindsight. There was no saving it after that.

I've heard stories about how younger kids find SU to be a dull show or just not enjoying it.

GOOD. At least it gives me an idea of why ACTUAL KIDS - whether they want to admit it themselves or not, like what most of us adults think of as nothing more than junk food like TTG!, Total DramaRama, and yes, even Gumball (Damn Shame I'm labeling it like that - I actually like Gumball, even if its last seasons weren't that good, honestly.).

Gay Space Rocks are even less healthy for actual kids to consume than those other examples, admittedly enough.
Well, that's what I take away from this madness, anyway...

Well... Credit where credit is due Private, you sure called it. And I am begging the cosmos to give me the time I wasted on this shit, what a fucking shame.

Adventure Time got praised because, like Korra and OK KO, they had last minute lesbos to mask all their glaring faults. SU already has lesbos everywhere so they cannot use that without it coming off as "nice try but no". (Unless they *GASP* have gay DUDES smooch instead oh my gosh what a daring concept I know!)

Just doing my part to add a little drop of common sense to the bucket of dumb takes that is the Multimedia subforum.

Tell more jokes, you purple fucker.

My nephews all love TTG and Maomao. SU used to share their ability of just watching any random episode and jumping right in, but they had to go thematic and up their own ass with REP-REE-ZEN-TAY-TION they lost that ability for good. SU should've been an [adult swim] cartoon but then they wouldn't get all the asspats for being the first CN toon to have gays smooch. And that's not good enough for non-binary woman bisexual married to a man Becky Sugar. (that's all her labels, right?)

I mean, you laugh but between Sadie and Lars splitting and Connie all but confirmed to be separating from him, it would not surprise me the least bit if Steven hooked up with a guy in a last minute montage, like in Regular Show. After last minute lesbians, the logical next is obviously last minute gays.
