This. Seriously.
I had gender identity crisis when I was in my mid-teens (I think it was a way of coping with abuse). Luckily tumblr didn't exist, I don't think or else I would have been wrongly validated constantly or something.
If you are a confused teenager everything these people say makes sense. I believed the whole identity crap and I guess had I known tumblr I would have become a special snowflake too.
The thing is - the more you get involved the crazier you get because critique or pointing out contradictions is absolutely forbidden and everyone who does it is cisseixt/transphobic and so on and gets harassed. There are seriously mentally ill people and narcisstis in this community who can't deal with any form of dissent. Really cultish if you ask me.

I grew up and learned things about the trans community/identity politics that changed my mind completely. Now I'm still gender nonconforming but I laid all my labels and identities to rest forever.
I'm sure I would have been a special snowflake too if I joined tumblr during my most impressionable/confusing times. That's what's so scary about looking at these snowflakes-- I was just several years off from potentially becoming one.If you are a confused teenager everything these people say makes sense. Why do I keep coming in late to the most entertaining threads? Oh, well.
@Stray Sheep : I'm waiting for you.
I find it amazing how many people on Tumblr have no clue that the Internet as a whole doesn't work like Tumblr. Every time I maybe start thinking that the site isn't terrible I see something like this too late.
I feel bad for the dumb 14 year olds-- everything on Tumblr is easily saved, and if someone reblogs your embarrassing thing it doesn't easily disappear. Having all your dumb young phases archived with people having the power to spread it even more with just a hit of the reblog button sounds terrifying.I like to think a lot of the stupid 14 year olds on Tumblr are just going to grow out of it eventually.
The problem when they're 25 and still acting like a special snowflake.
The most infamous people that I know who act like this are in their late 30s and 40s. They don't grow out of it.I like to think a lot of the stupid 14 year olds on Tumblr are just going to grow out of it eventually.

What's the most amazing thing about Tumblr is that it doesn't even need to be widely shared. You can find anything ever posted on Tumblr, even if it was later deleted, as long as it has a single reblog. That's all it takes to keep it online forever. Artists trying to hide their loli/shota rape guro past can't do that.I feel bad for the dumb 14 year olds-- everything on Tumblr is easily saved, and if someone reblogs your embarrassing thing it doesn't easily disappear. What's creepy is when I see the 30s/40s year old validate EVERYTHING a young teenager says in order to further their own weird agenda.The most infamous people that I know who act like this are in their late 30s and 40s. They don't grow out of it.
