NEW SHODAN FIGHT?!
I haven't picked it up again to look myself, but holy fuck they might have turned the final boss into an actual boss fight holy fucking shit it's about time
you lazy assholes might have fixed the one glaring problem with your remake I don't fucking believe it
Its Black Mesa all over again.

Nah, but they DID cost you nanites (currency) especially on the higher difficulty settings. Run short of funds and you were dead.

That would be a good difficulty slider for ReShock, actually: have the rez units cost you 1-5 TriOp credits each time.
It only cost 10 nanites, a resource you regularly pick up in bundles of 400 and every item in the game can scrap to 1-20.

>Adds a female model
>Use the masculinity body
>Gives her an ugly face and hair
Why do game companies hate hot woman so much?
They're too busy beating off to the idea of SHODAN turning them into Cortex Reavers while insulting them.

Seriously tho, just about everything in the game uses the male model anyway. I think the only things visibly female are the Enforcers and I guess technically the Exec Bots if you're willing to go full Spengler and stick your dick in a toaster. Everything else is just corpses in the same uniform state of unusual withering not-quite-decomposition, or piles of indistinguishable offal.
It's a little off-putting if you think on it for a moment; like, they shouldn't all look like raisin people after a few days. That's not how corpses work at all.

After a fresh 2/2/2/2 run, I can confidently say the new SHODAN fight is... less shit. It's still a glorified setpiece, and at least on medium difficulty I think you're still functionally immortal - I got pitched off into the floor killbox and popped right back up on the stage. However, it is more dynamic than the previous version, with SHODAN actively trying to kill you with fuckoff sky doom lasers after you clear out the waves of ICE on a platform.

Still, it gave me an excuse to play the game again. I'm not too upset about that.

Re-playing it. I think I'd adjust my score to an 8/10 if that was the final patch because... This is certainly rough around the edges. That's how I would describe it.

The gameflow and everything is fine. It becomes dicey when it comes to:

The A.I. is pretty bad. I am astonished that they never patched the A.I. The A.I. is super basic. The mutants you first face are decent fodder enemies but their pathing is still broken. They get stuck on corners and are very easily kited. But they don't react to jack shit not unless they see you dead ahead. You can shoot at a guy all day or take the pipe/wrench and slap away at a wall and they will not hear you. This is something even Doom had back in the day. Monsters in Doom heard weapon sounds and got aggro'd. Just saying. After that, the A.I. is still super basic and makes you yearn for the days of yore where you'd fight those commandos and assassin chicks from Half-Life.

The guns are mostly very weak too.

I am tempted to use this mod that addresses the A.I. and readjusts some of the weapons. https://www.moddb.com/mods/system-shock-redux

The System Shock 2 remaster which was advertised as having improved multiplayer has arrived!

It apparently does not have improved multiplayer. Every negative review on Steam as of this writing says it is broken to shit. I am under the impression you can't even load mods into said multiplayer, which you absolutely could in the OG busted-ass game.

Nightdive have fucked up. The trailer even says they want to do multi-system crossplay, which at this moment is laughable.

hey you get pretty models alright, trust in nightdive they will fix it and people will be able to play SS2MP without crashing like in the OG, just please buy it bro and enjoy the remaster reworked graphics and shooting animations bro PLEASE BUY IT...
i don't remember seeing much fanfarre outside gman, DF and charlatan wonder videos on it, they don't even try to criticize the game, just a passing note that "it looks better than the original" and that's it, SS2 isn't even that good to begin with and all they do is pull a BF2142 project remaster with the exact same amount of gayness as that mod for 30 fucking dollars.

Truthfully all they had to do was release a patch that unbroke the MP in the OG game. Latest patch caps at 3 players but you can roll it back (if you can find the damn files) for 4 players. Otherwise it doesn't seem worth the price at all. Surprised it took them that long for this. Guess that Steamworks implementation was no joke.

The fact there isnt any good mod to add the OG soundtrack to ReShock is a tragedy. My 15 yo self vibing like a manic whore in Citadel's corridors would be so disappointed. A bunch of them do use some fine remixes, but none of them implement actual dynamic music, and System Shock without weird ass dynamic synth music feels hollow. If I am not taking shots at stuff while the dude behind Miami Vice's soundtrack is having a stroke in the background, it's not the same.

This being said, it's still of one of my fav of these last few years and the modern, more serious/ambient tracks are bearable. I especially like the new renditions of The Bridge and Medical. As said by others, the AI is utter shit. As soon as you're safe above them. They just look up in confusion and walk in circles.

Seriously it's worse than you can imagine.

If any client player crashes they get wiped from the MP session's save file. It's amazing. There is a trailer for having 4 player MP, with crossplay, etc etc.

That's unreal. Can you at least join in mid session at all? If not then I don't see the improvements to the core game. SS2 was always jank in MP but it was actually playable and if it crashed it was annoying but trivial to work with, just have everyone rejoin the session and load the save. If you're wiped from the save on crash and if you can't even rejoin mid game in the remaster (should that bug be fixed) then what's the point?

Take a look here, this is a guide on fixing the crashing issue. That's how little work they seem to have done.
