Tabletop Roleplaying Games (D&D, Pathfinder, CoC, ETC.)

As a fan of Exalted, I'm kinda annoyed.
3rd edition is (supposedly) imminent, and so nobody is playing 2nd or 2.5. But with 3e in its incomplete state, nobody seems to be running that either.
I just wanna play some fucking Exalted!

*stops using the thread as a whining spot*

My group outright refused to play second edition for various reasons so i missed out on a lot.
Cant wait to see what 3rd ed has to offer.

As much as i appreciate the link im going to hold off on reading until i can get myself a release copy with all that lovely artwork.
I never really liked the new world of darkness stuff but loved WOD classic, the 20 year edition of book of the wyrm was excellent
The only two NWOD settings I liked are Changeling (vast improvement over Dreaming) and Hunter (Slashers was a great book, too). Vampire: The Requiem was too steamlined and they took out a lot of the really interesting stuff (no more Tzmisce or Tremere, no alternate paths besides Humanity, blood potency was meh, etc). Not to mention killing a lot of the deep, cultural roots and getting rid of Metis and Lupus in Werewolf: The Forsaken. As stereotypical as the cultural stuff could get for Apocalypse, it was interesting to see spirituality in different lights and that series got me into liking wolves. Mage the Awakening seems limited compared to the kitchen sink aspects of Ascension.

Slashers was a great book.
Never played changeling but loved the art style and how it really captured grimdark fantasy for me.
I honestly lost any interest for requiem after finding out the ravnos and tzmisce were gone.
Promethean seem interesting but i just never found a group interested in it.

I'd love to see an old World of Darkness version of Slashers. The new Deviant: The ? (they don't have a title for it yet) hasn't been too interesting yet, but we'll see in the future.

Deviant just seems kind of "meh".
So good ideas but not really to solid a concept.
And with Beast coming out in summer you kind of figure why bother ?

Has anyone heard of the RPG Tibet?
It's an Organic Rules Components (ORC) game that uses classes and d20s, but also tries to be as accurate as possible to Tibetan myth and culture. You can get most of the game for free, with the downside being that you can only use the monastic classes. I haven't played a full session, but it's a fun book to read.

I've heard Beast being called, "Otherkin the game." From what I've read, I find their enemies, Heroes, more interesting.

I can see some similarities between Deviant and Changeling when I explained it to a friend of mine. (Both have Mortals being kidnapped by more powerful forces, altered against their will, escaped and now have to live with the after effects.) I was assured that while Changeling is about overcoming abuse and going on with your life, Deviant is about pure vengeance. It just seems too one-track.

Beast cant be worse than the furry clusterfuck that was the New WOD changing breeds book.

I came across that and what it had in a review I read. Oh boy.

I loved the old changing breeds book.
The different views on the triat, the war of rage and just the idea of weresharks.

The new WOD version was awful.
There was sections about how your characters could go Yiff and have fanbois draw pictures of your fursona to further your connection to the spirits.
It was awful, not lol awful just plain awful.

Dang. That is something.

As for the old changing breeds, I really liked the Gurhal (werebears).

Session today had plot twists that have been in the works since the start of the game (thats been going on for over a year, now). Not many sessions have the players spend two hours pouring over correspondence between members of a conspiracy to determine the true identity of the mastermind behind an invasion, but it was great fun.

Maybe I'm just naive or very lucky, but even though I'm a quarter-Asian female, I've never really encountered all these nightmare scenarios that I keep hearing about. The guys at conventions (both comic and gaming) have been civil, the gaming stores I've been to are polite, I've never been discriminated from a group for being female, have never been groped, never gotten a rape or death threat from a gaming forum, never been sexually harassed or assaulted by comic geeks or gamers and I've never heard these stories from my fellow female gaming friends. In fact, I find that being an attractive female in the gaming world can get you favors.

Ok, I've come across two white male gamers who were jerks and I'm not interested in MMORPGs. And the party I currently play with aren't the most politically correct, but then again, my sense of humor is pretty off-color at times. Maybe it's just me, though.

Just read that link you posted. Jesus, dude. It's really shocking that someone is willing to lie so blatantly for attention. That lady needs help.

There are some things that rang suspicious to me, especially the Reefer Madness level accusations.

The sad part is that people are taking this seriously, despite so many claims setting off my bullshit radar.

Don't you love how she has to spike in the "white male" part every chance she gets.

Does anyone here play a Paladin in PF, and if so, what is your opinion on the Divine Defender archetype?

Seems to be a mix of tank and buffer with it's features to me.
