This annoys me to no end. It doesn't matter how often I log into Skype ; there is always an update waiting. I think I've mentioned before that the more often I see software updates, the more likely I am to think it's either poorly maintained or full of useless features/scope creep. To add on, the pajeets keep adding updates to Skype that have nothing to do with remedying this problem
When a past job involved tests involving electromagentic radiation, the professional contact for the project told us the EM radiation we were dealing was significantly less than what we were bombarded with daily by other objects with already-safe levels. One can understand the initial concern over the word "radiation," but freaking out without knowing the finer details just stirs up needless panic.Unless your phone is emitting gamma rays, or multi-gigawatt terrahertz em, it's no more dangerous than standing next to a microwave oven.
This is true of any proprietary software without an open data format that allows for easy information exchange. Worst is that many vendosrs - especially in the US - see no reason or incentive to allow for information interchange because it takes away their competitive advantage in some way.Thats basically the world of business software. Once you go with a particular piece of software youre locked into forever because the cost it would take to get the data out then into another system, train your 100+ employees on the new system AND the downtime you would have from all that makes it impossible to switch.
At my current job, the IT guy tried imposing some sort of security policy with the claim our industry required it. Boss, who has extensive knowledge in our field, told the IT guy he'd agree to the change if this policy could be cited in an industry-related source. When it turned out to be only a recommendation and not the hard and fast requirement as initially portrayed, boss shot down the change as needless hassle given our existing policies.Previous job the system admin for the company set windows passwords to expire every month. No matter how much I tried explaining to him and showing him how dumb that was he refused to listen.
Social media in general has taken a shit... FB used to allow people to view posts in chronological order but that seems to have all but disappeared now. It's frustrating to go on any social media platform to look for recent posts and get something from the last day, week, etc. when you know there should be more recent content available.I absolutely hate the twitter website. You go to a twitter user, and see posts from like 5 years ago and nothing current. You click on anything and it wants you to log in, and its dogshit slow.
I would recommend finding an instance of Nitter that still works since it sorts everything by date. I prefer to use https://nitter.poast.org/I absolutely hate the twitter website. This combined with not providing easy ways to download images and videos, the introduction of barely compatible formats like webp, and going as far as to entirely disable right clicking or selecting on pages has ruined the web, in the effect that trash can be easily generated and shared but anything more quality is usually much harder to move around now. Anyone without the technical knowledge, aka being able to slap a link into a converter or download site, or adding browser extensions to add back what used to be basic web browsing features, will just not share the shit that has become increasingly harder to share. This is even worse when you realize the less something is able to be copied, the more likely it'll eventually be lost online in general. We are stuck in an endless spiral of garbage. This is only part of the problem, of course, but it's a big one.i miss when a website had pages for things instead of endless scroll bullshit. it made it much easier to find a specific image or the like because you knew what page you were on/what page you stopped at if you were manually downloading images. no this isnt a porn thing either, the metropolitan museum of art used to have high resolutions images of all their art freely available online which made great backgrounds, but is now impossible to search through their collection because of endless scroll bullshit.
Physical media is dying because nobody wants it. It takes up too much space, honestly, you are only going to watch the movie once and its going to sit on a shelf, or a box until its non functional. grow tf up.
(the 2nd comment is in response to the argument that streaming stuff can be taken down at any time)But they don’t. This Luddite argument has been around forever.
The new hip thing is to own nothing except an IphoneX and a Macbook Pro, have a P.O. box and leech, borrow, co-share everything else. Because the NEW economy is instagram posts and experiences.
Using "grow up" to try and bullshit one into thinking something healthy is bad.
it is astounding how a pirated copy of a movie or show will be of tremendously higher quality than the absolute slop that is given to you on the service one pays for. i tried watching frasier on whatever streaming service and the video quality was indistinguishable from picking it up with rabbit ears. and then after paying to watch it, you also get ads, so it is objectively worse than if i was picking it up over the air because at least that was free.Streaming services have gotten so bad
CAFE and Euro 5/6 has destroyed the ability to use V6 engines in mass market cars and small SUVs anymore. And the fact that you can get a 4-pot Mercedes, for $82k, is even more of an abomination to cars today
Streaming services have gotten so bad and so fragmented
What if they who look down on those who prefer physical media as "immature hoarders" are paid shills for streaming services? Or are "socially engineered"? Because it is really "exceptional" to think that using streaming only is somehow better than physical media.the absolute slop that is given to you on the service one pays for
oh boy 5 thousand dollar upcharge for a tablet i cant move and that will hit me in the face first in the event of a wreck! Some automakers have now started adding screens for passengers to watch stuff while driving. (insert "DO YOU ALL NOT HAVE PHONES?!" joke here) To ensure that distracted drivers don't peek on the passenger screen while driving, automakers either angle or position the screen where the driver can't see it, or use polarized glass.
Two examples include the new Audi A5 and S5, and the Cadillac Escalade, respectively:

And it's an easy bet that some dumbass driver will still find a way to peek at a passenger screen, and cause a car crash while doing so.
These are the same people complaining that they can’t buy a housetl:dr = The new hip thing is to own nothing except an IphoneX and a Macbook Pro, have a P.O. box and leech, borrow, co-share everything else. Because the NEW economy is instagram posts and experiences.
The guy who made the format isn't who you should hate, it's Google for making it their thing and trying to force it, yet not even bothering to try and get anybody to actually make the format as compatible as anything that came before it.Okay niggers, faggots and Nigger Faggots
After a long, frustrating incompatibility moment I have located the man who invented WebP format and has claimed as much on his xitter account, he's a Google worker from Finland.

He actually has a super impressive resume and seems like a nice guy which is why I'm almost upset about my Jihad I wish to start against him.
