I really think the problem with Dark Fate is one of several action movies nowadays, they GOTTA GO for bigger and louder, acting like that was the only reason we were there. Well, the first Die Hard for me is a classic, you know why? Because of the intensity, danger and atmosphire of the situation, every action scene with McCain felt like a very close call for him (and he got more and more wounded with each confront, even if he "won" it). Each sequel has less of that and more explosive stakes to the point it almost becomes a parody of itself. There is a reason the best action scenes are actually pretty down to earth, for example, T2 had the canal chase, the music, the shots, the stakes, the intensity of the situation were all amazing...they didnt need planes and granades raining from the fucking skies to grab our attention...for what it was it was just a truck, a motor-bike and a motorcycle chasing each other but its the smallest of details (like that sweet one hand reload), the T-800 constantly rethinking its strategies (like, he tries to shoot the T-1000 to slow it down but its clear it wasnt doing much, so he changed the strategy to reach John before it could reach him).
Its like movies act like we got ADD and need to constantly throw giant explosions and fucking plane crashes to keep our attention, thats the problem with action movies, they become so over the top they become parody of themselves, not understanding bigger explosions arent bigger stakes.
