Tesla Hate Thread - oh and come seethe about EVs in general with me

Is Tesla Gay?

I saw one in the wild while walking my dog and had to do a double take. There's a number of cars where the idea someone would look at them and think "Yeah, I want to be seen driving around town in that," baffles the mind.
Certain cars just scream "The person who drives me is insufferable". I automatically assume anyone who drives an expensive German SUV is a turbo Karen and anyone who drives a cybertruck unironically is a gullible Elon fanboy.

Can't wait to see the the first results of accidents with pedestrians. Instead of getting smashed or squashed, the people getting hit by cyber trucks will also get sliced into pieces.

"Nothin personnel kid, while you were undergoing quality assurance I was studying the blade"

Following Fisker's Chapter 11 Bankruptcy declaration, they will be fire-selling their remaining ~3200 Fisker Oceans to American Lease, for ridesharing use, pending judge approval. Each sold Fisker Ocean is valued between $2500 and $16,500, and the total sale amount is expected to be for $46.3 million at best, and Fisker is also trying to absolve themselves regarding repairs and warranty claims on Fisker Oceans.

So basically, the suckers who bought Oceans are SoL, as those cars will inevitably become paperweights, and the resale values will be pretty much nothing.

Some more EV News:

Several dealers have filed a lawsuit against Hyundai, for artificially inflating EV sales. The dealers accused Hyundai of overstating EV sales, by telling dealers to report unsold EVs as sold, and they would get discounts and more stock of popular models. Dealers who chose not to do so, would not get the discounts, and would get more stock of the less popular models instead as punishment.

Ford will bringing back the Capri name, but making it a 4-door CUV Sedan, using VW's MEB Platform for EVs. The car also looks very similar to the Polestar 2:

So it's basically reviving a car's name, to make a boring CUV or EV (and this is both) out of it.

Audi announced that they may be ending the Q8 e-Tron's production early, due to low sales. They also said that if it does get discontinued, the Brussels, Belgium factory where it is built at, may get shut down.

Nothing likee a little chichanery to get the targets over the lines. We've had plenty of this in EV's and the auto industry in general, more to come for sure!

Of course they have to cook the numbers. The true believers really think EVs in their current state are a winning solution. I'm sorry but after rich people all buy their shiny new toy and companies switch over their fleets with government subsidies, the well was always going to run dry.

The only EVs affordable to average people nowadays are still shitty Nissan Leafs and Chevy Bolts, with a handful of other sub compacts. Or I guess you can also get a low model Tesla with 60k miles on it, too. Meanwhile for ICE you can get relatively new 3 rows.

Imagine a family of four with a single car choice all piling into the Bolt. Most people are NOT going to do that, no matter what the savings in gas money are. For better or worse people want CUVs/SUVs, whatever. 2+ rows of full seating with storage in the back. EVs are not doing that for 30k, even used.

Just for fun I took a look at used EVs within 100 miles of my metro area for 30k and under. 80% bolts and leafs, couple of teslas (one with 120k on it), A decent handful of Mach Es, and a few of these Hyundai Konas. I had to look that last one up. Another compact.

Koreans don't seem to have learned since overinflating the MPG numbers of their Kia Soul that faced a similar legal hiccup.

Hyundai later responded to that lawsuit, with this statement:

UPDATED: After the publication of this story, a Hyundai spokesperson reached out and offered a comment in response. The statement follows:

"Hyundai is aware of the new case that was filed after Mr. Edward F. Napleton recently contacted us in advance to discuss. We do not condone any intentional falsification of sales reporting data and have launched an immediate investigation. We intend to take any and all corrective and remedial actions required based on that investigation.

"We asked that the Napleton organization pause the filing of this lawsuit pending the completion of our internal investigation. They chose, instead, to file the lawsuit after we made it clear that we would not agree to withdraw from our litigation against the Napleton organization in South Florida. In that litigation, Hyundai sought to terminate Napleton’s two West Palm Beach stores after executive Edward W. Napleton was widely reported to have been involved in a heinous sexual assault against another Napleton organization employee and he was charged with a violation of the Florida criminal code described as Sexual Battery of a Helpless Person. The Napleton organization refused to place Edward W. Napleton on leave or, we contend, fully investigate the allegations. Mr. Napleton ultimately entered into a best-interest guilty plea to felony battery. Hyundai contended that the reporting of the incident, the arrest, the plea, and the Napleton organization’s public support for Mr. Napleton damaged Hyundai’s reputation, and the federal district court in Fort Pierce, Florida, ultimately agreed with Hyundai and entered summary judgment on the termination claims against both dealership stores. The Napleton dealerships have appealed that decision to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. We intend to vigorously defend ourselves against the claims made by the Napleton organization in this new case and to continue to litigate the termination claims to conclusion."

So either this dealership did some really fucked-up stuff and is trying to get a payday out of Hyundai, or Hyundai did indeed cook the books and is using sexual assault allegations (either true or false) as an underhanded tactic to get the lawsuit dropped.

I thought EVs were going to free up car design from evil ICE. once you get rid of the prop shafts and gearboxes you can make the car any shape you want.

And yet all the new ones are shitty SUVs.

Here’s ford’s latest name raping piece of wank.

The nu Capri

Look at it, it’s fucking massive.

Modern EV SUVs and crossovers all look like those little cars you got in Kinder eggs in the 2000s. Homogenous blobs, indistinguishable from each other. I miss it when brands had their own, identifiable design language.

Sadly, even Chinese EVs are just as homogenous blobs, even though they have more sedans, hatches, and EVs that are not SUVs. Some examples include:

XPeng P7:

Xiaomi SU7:

Wuling Honugguang Mini EV:

I'm still annoyed that Ford hasn't come out with a fancy electric convertible and called it the Thunderbird.

The Chinese are already coming out with an EV Convertible, the MG (which is Chinese now) Cyberster:

And no, Chinese EVs won't be the savior of the EV movement, no matter how much their dick-suckers praise them, even though they look good, are cheaper, and even at times perform better. They still have the issues about being government subsidized, the stuff that you don't see on the outside and the interior is cost-cut to hell, and their issues with battery fires are just as bad, or even worse, than the American/German/Korean-made EVs.

NASCAR is also trying to jump on the EV bandwagon, with this prototype that is, you guessed it, an SUV:
