BYD is suing the US Government for the tariffs on Chinese vehicles. / Archive

With Chinada already kicking the hornet's nest by cucking out to allow Chinese vehicles to be imported in with much reduced tariffs, this would be like blowing up the said hornet's nest with a bomb.

And another Chinese EV catches fire after a minor crash, and most of the doors wouldn't open. The driver and 3 passengers got out of the car, but the front row passenger couldn't get out and died:

I don't know why that front row passenger didn't just get out of the car through the driver side door...

And sales of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra's sales have fallen from 3000 monthly, to only 45 monthly, meaning that all of the people that wanted the car bought it, and that's it, in addition to numerous blunders such as the duct controversy and the fatal SU7 Ultra crash:

Even the similarly looking Kia Stinger managed to have better sales and lasted longer (MY 2018-2023), while the SU7 Ultra may be killed off soon.

It also seems doubtful that even if Xiaomi was already selling cars outside of China, the sales may have not been that much more.

Flammable liquids like the battery electrolyte?

Chinese automakers specifically like to blame flammable liquids or items being stored inside the car such as perfume bottles or power banks. Although that doesn't make sense, because unless the metal between the car interior and the battery is so thin, a perfume bottle catching fire would probably die out because it burns all the oxygen inside.

Toyota has revealed that the new 2027 Highlander will be EV only, but it looks like the typical generic EV SUV, and also has the minimalist Chinese EV interior too, meaning that if you removed all of the Toyota badges from it, you could mistaken it for being a Chinese EV:

I sat in a Tesla for the first time today.

I cannot believe how poorly these things are put together.

I am indifferent to Musk, but for the money, these are not well built.

Exterior panels have varying gaps, I compared two of the same series 3 model, exterior panel gaps are all over the place.
Inside the cabin the facias rattle and can be moved physically by hand.

It feels like drunk Lego. It fits, but not quite, but doesn't know where it should be.

I've driven the BYD equivalent, had it for a 3 month road test in eastern Europe and it is leagues above this for a fraction of the price.

Granted, spontaneous combustion is a worry, but even so...

You say that it would be mistaken for a chinese EV, but you're wrong, it would be correctly identified as one!

Toyota's first foray into EVs, was a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru. It resulted in the notoriously dogshit car, the bZ4x, which could not fast charge more than twice a day, charged slower than some electric motorcycles with 1/20th the battery size, had shit range, got murdered by winter, and was uncontestably THE worst EV sold back in 2023. The Fisker Ocean was a better car.

Since then, Toyota's been leaning into the chinese Joint Venture mandate (western brands must partner with a local brand for the purpose of money and because gooks steal IP), and have taken their experience with their chinese-made cars and basically just replicated it in other models.

The current chinese-exclusive "Toyotas" are:

Literally all of these are your average chinese firecracker-box-on-wheels. The former bZ4x did have Toyota reliability and is extremely solid, but is just such a dogshit car w/r/t the drivetrain that you might as well not buy one.

Do not buy ANY EVs from Toyota. They are all chinese cars with a PR team.

As if Ford already didn't shoot itself in the foot enough times with the 150+ recalls they had in 2025, they may also let themselves get raped by the Chinese, as they may be in talks with Geely. There were also rumors that Ford was in talks with Xiaomi, but Xiaomi denied those rumors.
Jim Farley is such a fucking retard. Half the reason why the siren song of Chinesium EVs is so appealing right now is because the Big 3 automakers have been on a generational fumble since Covid.

The Vinfast VF8 also released in 2023, and the first year of it was universally panned by both owners and reviewers. The suspension tuning was so awful that people literally get motion sickness while riding in one, and it is very heavy (5700 lbs) compared even to other EVs, in addition to other various teething issues such as infotainment failures.

A VF8 also crashed and killed a family of 4 in 2024.

Ars Technica: Tesla slashes Cybertruck prices as it tries to move (unpainted) metal (archive)
Last night, Tesla made some hefty cuts to Cybertruck pricing in an effort to stimulate some sales. The bombastic tri-motor “Cyberbeast” is $15,000 cheaper at $99,990, albeit by dropping some previously free features like supercharging and FSD. And there’s now a new $59,990 entry-level model, a dual-motor configuration with a range of 325 miles (523 km) and the same 4.1-second 0–60 mph (0-97 km/h) time as the $79,990 premium all-wheel drive version.

Electrek: Elon Musk kills first Tesla Cybertruck ($60k) that makes sense just 10 days after launch (archive)
Tesla just launched the most compelling version of the Cybertruck it has ever offered — a dual-motor all-wheel-drive model starting at $59,990, and CEO Elon Musk is already signaling that it won’t last.

In a post on X, Musk responded to the announcement of the new AWD Cybertruck with a cryptic but damning three words: “Only for the next 10 days.”

I don't care to find a non-paywalled article but Ethiopia is having an EV 'boom' after banning all fossil fuel cars and slashing EV import tariffs. Sure, I guess EVs are a real no-brainer when the government makes them the only option.

say what you will about Ford, their breakpads have been the best in the world the last decade.

Out of those EV sales, how many of them were from Chinese brands?

Hyundai and Kia are also reducing their EV footprint in the US, as the Ioniq 6 sedan will no longer be sold in the US (although the N version will still be available), and the Kia Niro EV may be killed off after this year, leaving only the HEV and PHEV versions.

There is no point with the Niro EV as Kia has effectively replaced it with their EV lineup, I.e. they now have the EV2 and EV3 which would probably come to the US dependent tariffs or manufacturing in the US.

I am pretty sure Kia now has an announced EVx line from 1 through to 9, but excluding the 8
