The Final Fantasy Thread

They're separate dev teams, so this is apt, minus the piss baby sarcasm.
Unless Business Unit 3 is the Dragon Quest team, it's very, very hard to trust anything out of Square Enix. I want the game to be as great as you're hoping it'll be, but man, they don't have a good track record at all.

They're the team behind FFXI and FFXIV. While the latter had a rocky start, they're both pretty beloved games in their own right. You mention Dragon Quest - it's worth noting Naoki Yoshida got his start at SE working on DQ spinoffs as well as X before being put in charge of FFXIV after it bombed, which he undeniably saved and made into the WoW killer that it is today. I understand caution, but FFXVI isn't like FFXV where it was actually intended to be a spinoff jerked around by wavering circumstances over the course of a decade. Unless the game drops next year and is an absolute garbage heap top-to-bottom, I see myself getting it day one when it's on PC.

A new Final Fantasy game is coming out.

I feel nothing.
I didn't either, but then Wokeists rallied against it, and now I'll just accept Final Fantasy is dead but we have a cool new medieval DMC clone. They really put things in perspective for me, thanks globohomo.

Business Unit 3 is in charge of FFXI and FFXIV. Considering the quality of the latter, I’d say it’ll be fine.

All I know is that Tetsuya Nomura is not involved, which says a lot about its higher quality by itself.
Years of playing and enjoying FF14 has solidified that I have an amount of trust in Yoshi P putting in an actual solid effort and probably won't be unfinished jank bullshit.

Don't ruin my faith Yoshi P, make the game good.

Then again, everybody believed that FFXV would be good based on the pedigree of its second director, and look what happened with that.

The writing was on the wall with XV with how it was supposed to be part of a trio of games surrounding XIII, and how it went through at least 1 complete restart.

I just can't bring myself to be interested in 16, the darker and edgier vibe isn't doing it for me, and this is coming from someone who enjoyed the more recent installments. Normally I like medieval settings but I dunno, this just feels off. I might try it out at some point but it's anyone's guess as to when. Cool that you have a dog party member though.

I haven't bought anything beyond FF7 games and that's come to an end after the shitty remake that I didn't even bother to finish. But I'm going to keep tabs on 16 for the simple fact they told SJWs to fuck off and in not so many words didn't want niggers in it. And going forward, that's the core selling point for me if I ever decide to buy a new game when it's been so few and far between.

Does anyone know who the guy on the left is? I know the lady on the right is Jill and that’s her dog but I can’t figure out who this guy is. Did Odin’s dominant get a haircut?

Forget what I said. That’s Ramuh’s dominant.
