The General Thread

so my sister is going off on facebook about what a terrible mother she is yet refuses to talk to us about it
and my dad is currenlty seeing two women, one of them a nutcase he's dumped several times before...for being a nutcase

My car has a flat tire all of a sudden. At least it wasn't what I initially thought it was (I thought I was dragging a dead cat). Now I can't find the wrench to take off the hubcaps. Life is hell.

I haven't had this PC for a month and it's already throwing problems at me that necessitate wiping my hard drive. The day I decide to back things up.

*stress sigh* Time to start getting things back in place.

On a less grouchy note I think I'll teach myself CSS. I'd like to be able to compose web layouts.

I've been trying to do that for years.
I don't think I'm trying hard enough though :P

My mom's been trying to get me to do that for years (it's part of what she teaches), but I don't think I'm gonna have a use for it. Me and my brother as well as one of my friends do help her out from time to time, though, if only with aesthetics.

The only CSS I'll be touching these days is Counter Strike Source.

I had a nightmare where Dr. Thredson from American Horror Story was my dentist...

Well, I went to an HMV today, and found the last two James Bond movies that I was missing (Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), both in a double-pack. The pack had a 2/20 deal on it, so I figured I'd find another movie with the deal. I was just about to get another double-pack with Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, but something caught my eye. I saw all four Scary Movies in a quadruple-pack with the 2/20 deal. I wouldn't have bought it on any other day, but for some reason, I had the urge to completely deteriorate my brain. I just seem to be drawn to bad movies for some reason. I might as well watch them. I want to see how bad these things really are. I can tell I'm not going to get most of the jokes from the earlier movies, considering how dated they are.

TL;DR I just completed my James Bond collection and bought the first four Scary Movies because I'm a moron who has a thing for bad movies.

I started reading The Well-Cultured Anonymous and it's hilarious. It also has some pretty good tips.

I also evaluated a speech titled "Are you a stripper?" No, not that kind of stripper. It was about home repair.

Figures the only time I miss a day in government class, there's a freaking quiz that I missed. It's not going to be counted for me, thank god, but now I'm ranked 5th in the class. :C Well, there's like, 35 students, so I'm sure it's not that bad...

We live in a magnificent age, people. We live in an age where we have Open Course Ware (OCW), where top universities put up courses (usually including videos of lectures) online and it's absolutely free. I've been wanting to learn about sociology, just get a taste for it, but I had no idea where to start. I looked up some books to get, which I got from the library, but I just realized there's probably OCW for Sociology. Turns out Yale, UC Berkeley and NYU have Intro to Sociology courses online (well, Yale's is "Introduction to Modern Social Thought" but it seems to be sociology-esque) so I can watch lectures from these top schools in bed if I want to. Hell, I don't even have to wear pants (try doing that when attending actual college).

Also I've been reading "Lies My Teacher Told Me." Great stuff, it's been a while I've read a book that could really hold my interest like that. Also reading "God is Not Great" by Christopher Hitchens, also good as well.

ugh catching spring fever. don't. want. to . work. at. all.

Yeah, I heard about those. I wanted to take one of those intro to neuroscience courses offered by Brown last year, but I didn't think I had the drive to take an online course and not get bored of it in a week.

I'm pretty excited. On friday I take a tripe to the Tulalip reservation for some cultural exchange with the tribe there. On Saturday I'm volunteering at the park cause it's Earth Day. :D Later this year I hope I can be a tutor for Native kids in math or something. I'm also gonna volunteer at a Pow-wow next month, too... It feels good to take part in the community again.
