The General Thread

I just walked 6 miles of a planned 10 mile walk in what I'm now told was 110 degrees. I'm not a complete moron, I brought a gallon of water with me and had saved the last half for the final part, but someone apparently called in a rescue on me because their opinion was it was completely insane to do this and I was going to die.

I'd have been fine, but whatever, when someone offered me a ride back on their golf cart (people drive those around here), I decided it would be an extreme breach of etiquette to refuse (it had nothing to do with me pussying out).

Sweat was literally pouring off of me, as in I could look behind me and see a trail, but I had sufficient water for the return.

It's when you stop sweating that you really have to worry. If you're sweating, you still have water to sweat with.
what community?
Did you see the triangle? Probably that community.

I want him to say it.

Heatstroke can sneak up on you if you're not careful, but actually calling rescue on someone out on a stroll is a bit...much

I almost never use any food delivery service because not only are you getting smacked with delivery, tip and like 3 other fees for the service itself, but the actual food itself is marked up ridiculously (as much as 50%) compared to picking it up yourself which is something I don't understand. I have one exception - Uber Eats is always sending me promotions probably intended to make me a repeat customer and the longer I ignore them, the better the deals get until I use one and it resets. I don't take them until I get 75% off the food - which after all the fees ends up costing as much as if I had just picked it up myself, but at least I avoid the gas usage and can just relax at home.

It's usually a month or two before I get up to 75% off coupon which I got recently, and it's still hard to use well due to the (in my mind questionably legal) markup on the food. I ended up only picking up one place with acceptable prices. The deal tends to be something like $15 off of $20, so not a true flat 75% off, but Burger King has always has a combo deal for 3 Whoppers, 3 cheeseburgers and 3 medium fries for $15, as well as 8 piece nuggets for just over $1 to meet the price minimum. This always ends up being 4-5 meals for me and I consider it an actual good deal, and the only one I know of on the service.

Well, with my new coupon I went to order... and I think I found an oversight were they forgot to up-charge the food for delivery. Now the combo was increased $5 (25%) and the nuggets have literally doubled in price, it's nuts. There is of course Bidenflation, but those increases are far above that which is why I think I was taking advantage of a pricing loophole for a year or more. With it no longer available, even 75% off is laughably insignificant in the face of every other restaurant's markups and despite the price now not providing 40(!) chicken nuggets it would have covered 3 months ago, the now $20 combo I mentioned is probably still the best deal I know of...

I don't think I can justify even going for the 75% off coupons at this point. If you guys know of any food not marked up to Hell or any good deals in general on Uber Eats I'd love to know since occasionally getting reasonable delivery food was nice while it lasted...

Does anyone else fucking hate moving? Everyone I know finds it fun and exciting, but it makes me so irrationally angry the entire time. Even having to pick up a singular moving box makes me want to burn the whole building down. I could not tell you why. Not to mention it's like 80 billion degrees outside, and why does my lease always end in the summer? Just for once, I want a fall or Winter lease, minus the whole having to go month to month thing.

They must be fake because no one likes moving.
People lie to themselves about the simplest damned things. The prospect of moving can be exciting, I suppose. The newness of place can be fun, I guess. There are some positives, sure, especially when moving into a better place, or from renting to owning. But the process itself is exhausting and stressful, even when hiring a moving company.
