The Matrix Resurrections Thread - Woah

The first one is the only good one. I'm dobutful 4 will be any good. Maybe so bad its good. So is this gonna be a retcon of the ending of 3 (With Trinity and Neo Dying), a soft reboot with Neo / Trinity remembering the last 3 films, or a interquel set between 1 & 2?

Edit: Matrix 4: No One's Ever Really Gone.

There's that fan theory floating around that the "real world" is actually another level of the matrix, which is pretty much the only way I can see them continuing the story with any kind of coherency. To be perfectly honest, i'm excited to see much further past the bottom of the barrel the stunning and brave minds behind Jupiter Ascending can drill.

Matrix Ascending gonna be wild yall, bees can smell agents now, Neo is trans and his autism powers are even stronger. Trinity comes back as a dog-girl awooo
IIRC, Switch (or someother character) was going to be trans in the first film (Female in the Matrix, Male in the real world). But someone at WB made them scrap it.

I bet the action scenes are gonna be 100% cgi now that we can get photorealistic rendering.

This is gonna be a fucking shitbomb and I cant wait.

It's not like not having photorealistic rendering available stopped them from doing exactly that in the sequels.

They haven't made a good film since they trooned out.

Counterpoint: Cloud Atlas, though they needed a 3rd guy to pull that off.

This is what I assume it's going to be about, what we thought was the "real" world was just another Matrix and the real reason humans are trapped in the Matrix isn't because machines use us as "batteries" but something stranger, how deep does the rabbit hole go?

There is potential in this if that's the direction they go in, no clue whether it will wind up being any good, but I am interested.

If this is a faux-prequel or involves any kind of time travel I'm going to kill myself

I assume Trinity is returning as an AI Construct of some sort (unless this movie takes place in the real-real world)

To be fair, the Matrix world is the only world that being transgender would be okay. After all, if you can literally edit yourself to look like whatever you want and experience anything you want with the right coding, then what's the harm in being the opposite gender? At least in the Matrix, you can experience what it is like to be a "real" woman/man.

That being said, I expect this movie to handle the issue poorly. I can already picture it now: Neo meets a cute young woman in the Matrix world, only later he meets her and finds out that "she" is really a man in the real world. The young man will lament about how he wishes he could really change his gender like he can when he's in the Matrix. Neo, in his infinite coolness and wisdom, will place a hand on the young man's shoulder and shock the boy by telling him that gender is just a social construct, and his girl dick is totally valid.

Alternatively, we'll meet a new character in the movie that is a transgender woman in the real world. She will totally pass and be attractive. She will explain that there is a glitch in the Matrix that causes some young people to be born in the "wrong body"; basically, after they awake from the Matrix, they realize their real world body doesn't match the gender they were when they were stuck in the Matrix.

There is no way to "fix" this glitch in the real world. However, this woman will explain that they figured out how to provide "gender affirming care" to ease the dysphoria they feel outside of the Matrix. She'll explain that hormones are hard to come by in the real world, and surgery is super risky, but they are worth it because the results are just as good as changing your gender in the Matrix. She'll explain that there is no difference between a trans woman on hormones and a real woman. Somehow, the movie will work in a scene where we find out that she's totally a "lesbian" and her wife totally loves her girl dick/stink ditch. Some secondary character will scoff at the notion, but our Progressive and Woke™ Neo will give them a constipated look before saying "Trans women are women".

A final alternative I could picture: there is no overt transgender messages in the movie. However, after the movie comes out, Lana will drop a "bomb shell": Neo or Trinity was transgender the entire time!

edit: I had forgotten what the directors look like. For those who are curious, this is Lilly Wachowski, unsurprisingly a Contra fan:

And this is her "sister", Lana Wachowski:

Admittedly, "she" passes way better than Lilly, but when next to real women it's pretty obvious:

Jesus god I cannot believe they are doing this. For the sake of Keanu I hope it's decent. At least we'll maybe get some cool trailers out of it, but I am not hyped for this shit.

I wonder what a residual-self-imaged-vagina would look/feel like.

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana,”
Who?

and her sister, Lilly
WHO!?
