The Matrix Resurrections Thread - Woah

The first Matrix film was an accidental masterpiece. Everything about it had been ripped off from other properites (The Invisibles being the primary source) with some new age eastern crap added on top of it. Toss in some cool sounding technical jargon, bullet time effects, and somehow it all came together into something cohesive.
It's success also came as a result of the then new format, DVD. The next time the Wachowski brothers were given a chance at the big screen, they proved how incompetent they truly were. Not one single film the troon brothers have made since the first Matrix has been good. I pray, for the sake of Warner Brothers, that some bean counter doing their finances realizes what a flop this thing will be and puts the breaks on it.

The Wachowski Brothers must be desperate for attention since trooning out didn't get them enough asspats.

Every single movie these two guys have made sucked with the possible exception of the first Matrix.

And to be quite honest, I never thought The Matrix was that good in the first place. Decent, but not great.

I can see why it was popular back in 1999 since it tapped into the zeitgeist of that era fairly well and capitalized on the DVD format, which was a new thing at the time. But it has not aged well.

Trying to update The Matrix to 2010's sensibilities is going to suck even worse than the sequels did.

Oh wozers, do you think this movie will explore the concept of people who are one gender inside the Matrix and a different one outside of it?

Speed Racer was ok.

Cloud Atlas is enjoyable if you read the book

Back in the days, when a Nokia 8210 was still a thing.
Maybe they'll re-equip the resurgent model in time for part 4? The 8110 is such a cheap, lazy phone. Give it quality materials, decent screen, and the whole array of band support and it could be a smartphone killer, for those who don't want to carry around a goddamn slate.

Too bad the only two good Matrix movies were the first one and the Animatrix.

Please God, let it die.

The Animatrix is the best thing of this franchise, even better than the first movie.

The Second Renaissance (scripted by the Wachowskis) especially can work mostly as a standalone short film, it's blend of historical imagery with a science fiction twist is really clever and not something I've seen done anywhere else, as well as it's Religious flavored but still grounded in science fiction take on the Apocalypse is also very clever, whenever I watch it it never ceases to scare the living shit out of me.

Also the Machine ambassador's comment at the end about "the flesh is only a vessel" is kind of interesting in light of both of the Wachowskis since becoming trans.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I believe there may still be some potential in this franchise, I'm willing to give Matrix 4 a shot.
