Speaking of this, it's pretty cool that running backs are seeing a resurgence. It's not even just running backs, but "older" that used to be conventionally dead once they hit 28 or so. Not really sure what shifted the course. Most likely a combination of insanely optimal recovery/rehab programs, more decentralized workloads (i.e., workhorse that gets 30 carries a game), and smaller, pass-centric defense.

We saw the pendulum start to swing back last year with the offensive outputs decreasing, but teams are definitely returning back to the run game. I just wish there was a dominant power guy, in the mold of Jerome Bettis or Mike Alstott. Derrick Henry kinda fits the bill, but it's not quite the same. I wanna see a massive 260lb nigga carry 2 dudes for a ride. One that defenders are afraid to tackle. Like Brandon Jacobs. Imagine being some 210lb safety trying to tackle that bald, 6'4, 270lb, literal gorilla of a man.

Not really sure what shifted the course.
Teams seeing that pairing dual threat QBs and generational RBs behind brick wall OL's like the Eagles and Ravens have, make for a really dynamic offense that's difficult to scheme against.

Its also easier to allow the offense to run. You don't need to teach Lamar or Hurts to read the entire defense, understand shifts, and make a bunch of reads within 2-3 seconds. You can run a play where they read 1-2 players and make a yes or no decision

That's a recipe to maximize a window for sure, but it's not ideal for the QB's development. The better run game independent of the QB will help get you over the hump in his 20's, but he'll be ill-prepped for when his legs can't save him anymore.
Not to mention it's not like that obsolesces the need for a good passing game. There is an important difference behind the Eagles' continued post-season success and the Ravens getting found out. And that difference is why I know Philly has AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith offhand, but couldn't name you a current Ravens receiving target besides Mark Andrews, and that's only because the Lamar Stan Squad used his name like a comma to explain why Baltimore choked early, again, in these last playoffs.

Its not but that's part of the point of why teams do this. You don't have to spend a few years developing a QB, which could get you fired before you see the full results of this development. And you can grab a new QB a few years down the line once the legs run out.

Who would have thought propping up tons of low IQ black QB's and 2 decades of making it illegal to play Defense would have consequences...

I sometimes forget how spoiled we are to have two star wideouts, they'd make any QB look like Joe Montana.

This is your regular reminder that the Titans traded AJ Brown for Pick 18 which they took Treylon Burks with. They declined Burks' 5th year option two days ago. He currently has 53 receptions on 92 targets for a career total 699yds and is questionable to start the season with a knee injury.

That footage of Vrabel almost storming out of the Titans war room in reaction to Brown getting traded was enough for me to take his side in the resulting back and forth he had with management, no matter how many people Amy Adams pulled out of the woodwork to badmouth him.
Really hope he proves to be what New England needs, and that the Mayo fiasco taught Kraft to go back to being hands-off.

I am so glad that we have another stupid owner in the league who will make stupid decisions. Someone has to replace Jerry Jones when he dies soon

You raise a good point. For the mixed ones, like Jordan Love, it's always hoping the white side takes over. Ya know what I'm sayin'?

When a player is full darky, but rly good, I'll elevate them to "honorary hwite man" status. At least until they fuck you. Then they're immediately demoted.

Kinda like when the Vikings traded Randy Moss for pick #7, which was a WR. Fast lil' dude, but that was about it. I get why teams value draft picks (younger and rookie contract), but it gets absurd at times. Trading a guy (like AJ Brown) who is already good, and on the precipice of taking the next step, for the potential of drafting a good player (at the same position) is just plain retarded.

Especially everything surrounding situation. New GM comes into a team that's trying to take the next step and immediately trades one of their best weapons. A weapon whose head coach, a head coach that shifted the team into a winning culture, was very fond of. Then the GM fires said head coach the next year, only to be fucking fired the year after.

What's funny is that basically everyone viewed Vrabel's firing as a mistake, Titan's fans included. It all came off as a GM wanting to install his own guy at HC for the sake of his ego and it makes sense. I get it. GMs are always kinda skiddish walking into a situation where the HC from a previous regime is still there. Both need the same vision to run a good football program, and that doesn't always happen when two guys with no background or history are saddled together. What doesn't make sense is firing the GM one year after he started to put his fingerprints on the franchise. It reeks of incompetent ownership.

Vrabel will be fine in New England though. If you listen to Bussin' with the Boys, the guy knows how to run a locker room. Where the risk comes in though is who he installs at coordinators, especially on offense. Josh McDaniels is a Peter principled guy and obviously rubs players (except Patriots) the wrong way, but if there's anyone not named Bill Belichick who can manage McDaniels, it's Vrabel.

We need to resurrect Al Davis, the crusty hyper-progressive Jew that he was, really knew how to be entertaining. Fucking drafting guys purely based on their 40 times, or firing Lane Kiffin by wheeling out an overhead projector was pure kino. Mark Davis isn't nearly as entertaining other than his cool haircut.

Fun fact: The Raiders traded up to #23 in front of the Packers in the 2005 NFL draft. I was convinced the Raiders were gonna take Aaron Rodgers because they needed a QB and Green Bay was the next possible destination for Aaron Rodgers. Nope. Fabian Washington. CB. Nebraska. His 40 time was 4.29. He was awful.

This is also where I learned I don't know shit about the draft. I was PISSED Green Bay took Aaron Rodgers. Mostly because he was a Jeff Tedford guy. As it turns out, I've never been more wrong in my life.

We need to protect and nurture this woman in Tennessee. Not only is Al Davis gone and Jerry Jones on the way out, but we lost the Detroit owners. They have become competent. We will be stuck with Mark Davis being smarter than his father (not much of an accomplishment but he won't be pure kino), the Jets, the Bears, and the Jags. That's not enough fun, especially with the Bears trying to make good decisions

"Players, not plays. Picks not players. If you're not getting younger, you're getting older." Age-old wisdom from Vic Ketchman.

Don't forget the Dolphins. They go under the radar because journoscum fellate McDaniel and try to pretend Reek isn't a washed up domestic abuser, but they've been irrelevant for 25 years and and an absolute shitshow for the past couple. Thanks again for running Vic out of town.

Need to demand Green Bay be run via shareholder votes.
Please don't. These people are fat, drunk, and retarded. And half of them are women so they will be drafting shitty players with heartwarming back stories

The Dolphins get away from their lolcow owner status due to the fact that he lives in New York and they win enough games to get into the playoffs. If the owner was more involved and/or they were winning 4 games a season then it would be funnier

Rofl. Apparently the team was split into thirds and one of those thirds split into another third after Bud Adams died. Something like 70% of the franchise was owned by 3 different women whose only affiliation to football was Bud Adams. They eventually shifted it around so she's the controlling owner, but talk about a recipe for disaster. He's probably flipping the bird down there in black heaven.

Also, how could you forget the Browns??? Easily the top of the list. Jets may be number 2, assuming all the stuff about his son treating the roster like it was Madden was true.

Jags are interesting. Like, they're owner kinda has the opposite problem that others do in that he let's shit continue for too long. It's not like he doesn't invest into the team, but questions arise when you're pounding your hands over keeping Trent Baalke. To only fire Trent Baalke a month later.

I'm trying to think of an area where the Dolphins have excelled since Marino left. Other than popularizing he wildcat, they've been uniquely meh on offense, defend, and in general. Just had has Miami done this millennia??? They don't even have the excuse of "same, stagnant" owner either. It's probably not a good sign when the only notable things from recent history are a head coach claiming they were tanking and a QB whose really good at getting concussed

Reminds me when profootballtalk has a comments section. It was the best demonstration of how insanely retarded football fans can get.
Who actually makes the administrative decisions for the Packers without a traditional "owner". I never really understood how this works.
It's the President, who gets voted in every so often. Team owners, such as myself, get a ballot every summer to vote people in for various roles. I'm a very important person on the team and make very critical decisions. You could say I'm a "big deal", so I do thorough research prior to casting my ballot. In-depth research as: "Is this person a hwite male?"

There's more to it than just voting in whoever, for team president though. I'm not familiar with the specific process to get in the running, but you get the gist. Currently Mark Murphy, but he's stepping down soon due to age limits.
