Chris was trying to get Catie in the bag. Aha, you signed it and took the ring, no turning back now!

Open relationships are a difficult thing to deal with even if you're a well-adjusted, mature adult. Chris doesn't even understand what a relationship is, so he had no chance once Colin had her warmin' his bunk below decks.Wow this really does highlight the whole 'Colin' freakout a lot better; he vows that he'll tell her if he ever chases strange but then doesn't write in that she can do the same. Chris wanted a clause so he could sleep around but wanted Catie to not be able to do the same.
Am I still meant to be feeling sorry for Chris cos she 'wasn't real'? Cos even if he knew she was fake writing in something like that is a pretty huge dick move.
Most definitely. If she'd taken him up on his offer of staying over Christmas, she'd have discovered that the guest room only has a door handle on the outside.Chris was trying to get Catie in the bag. Aha, you signed it and took the ring, no turning back now!
I know it was an open relationship but am I the only one that thought this was mad douchey?-to fully maintain honesty and loylty (sic) to
you at all times, now and forever.
Even when and if I should feel need for
a break, or to find fun with anyone else,
Well at least she'll be informed of your indiscretions.-I vow to inform you of such times
and with who, and all other details.
of such.
You'll be the most important woman in my life....... besides my mother who I'm absolutely devoted too.-to keep you topmost on my heart
and soul (alongside my mother, who
remains of my utmost loyalties, honesty
and such that goes in the mother-child
relationship, respectfully), and all relate
priorities as well.

Remember we don't have context for this yet. It's entirely possible that Colin was nothing more than a friend in the platonic sense and that Chris still flew into a jealous fit... even though he sees nothing wrong with screwing around when it's him.Wow this really does highlight the whole 'Colin' freakout a lot better; he vows that he'll tell her if he ever chases strange but then doesn't write in that she can do the same. I sort of put the blame for that sort of thinking on Barb. If that's what he was thinking, Chris was trying to trick Catherine into being in the relationship. It's a shame that this kind of manipulation is one of the only things she taught Chris.Chris was trying to get Catie in the bag. Aha, you signed it and took the ring, no turning back now!
I know I'm late to the party here, but I've just got to point out how fucking creepy this is. If the texts released earlier were anything to go by, Chris and Catherine were never in a relationship at all, and Chris just sent her what amounts to wedding vows. I know this is Chris we're talking about, but how clueless do you have to be to send this shit?
Yeah, I caught onto that as well. Ultimately I figured that since it's a set of vows it's not something by which you dictate terms to the other party, but something you pledge on your own part. The other thing I noticed is he doesn't talk about what he expects of catherine in this arrangement - I feel like what he's really saying is he expects her to passively agree to these terms and not question then, so later he can say (in fact he basically did when he was trying to manipulate her in those texts) "I'm upholding my part of the contract - you uphold yours!" and whatever that is is up to Chris.
I would say it's the responsibility of Catie to specifically shut Chris down if she's uncomfortable with him thinking they're dating. (I don't remember the details behind their situation and how much she's at fault.)I know I'm late to the party here, but I've just got to point out how fucking creepy this is. Chris honestly believes that "no takesies backsies" can be forcefully applied to a romantic relationship.Chris was trying to get Catie in the bag. Aha, you signed it and took the ring, no turning back now!
Actually, it doesn't matter if the proponent can prove by clear and convincing evidence the intent of the testator. Not notarized by an impartial state witness. NULL AND VOID
