The Sims

A bunch of guys in chat were talking about Sims so I'll bump the topic.

From a mechanical interest I take a deal of pleasure from the Sims just because it has so much shit in it. I just wish that the social interactions weren't made for late-30s women on menopause and it wasn't plagued with the hallmarks of being by EA. Honestly, if Valve took the Simulated Life concept and ran with it on Source, they could publish a game 50x better and more dynamic with Workshop accessibility and they'd make more money off shit like hats in a year than Dota and TF2 combined in their lifetime.

Regardless, here's my dude.

And in case you're wondering, no, I didn't cheat to get anything important. I have a lot of money and an alien for a funny reason.

1. Made a dude character.
2. Found out that if you play a guitar in the subway you make fucking 10,000 simbux in a few hours.
3. After making bank and getting the guy married an alien touches down.
4. Dude was at the subway making money so wife was the one to make first contact.
5. After you meet an alien you can actually use your phone to invite them over.
6. Established a relationship with alien
7. Made them fuck
8. Dude becomes horribly depressed and I kill him off so alien can get married to wife
9. Wife begins to hold my glorious alien mary sue down
10. Kill her
11. Move alien out of town
12. Reconstruct entire house on the +50 beautiful view moodlet lot.
13. Alien gets hot butler and summons meteors on peasants.

So how much better is the game now that all its expansions and crap are out?

Cuz uh... I intend to get them all at once ifyaknowutimean winky face.

Your house is so cool, Null, I love it! It's waaaay better than anything I put together for sure. I'll have to take some pictures of my not-as-cool house in the near future to share it.

I play the sims 3, and I need some help. I installed my sims 3 games onto an external hard drive, unfortunately I had to system restore my laptop. Which meant when I tried to play the sims 3 again, it wanted to install the game again, and when I installed the game onto the external hard drive again, it would come up with the launcher has stopped working.

I don't want to lose my current game with a family I made. And I don't want to loose all the stuff I brought from the website. Will I need to unistall them the games and expansion packs, and reinstall them again? Is there a way to keep the current game I have saved?

Also I know this is probably cheating, but are there any cheats to slow down time? The timer seems to go too fast even in normal mode, and it's annoying trying to get people to do things, and get to bed at a decent time. Is there a cheat to make them not to go to the bathroom, and not be so hungry all the time? I have sims that are whining because they are tired and hungry, so end up sleeping in their food, or sleeping on the ground.

Can I also ask if you can suggest any cheats for me to use in my game? Sorry if that is rude.

You don't sound rude. As for cheats, here is a link from GameFaqs:

As for the problem, sorry but I don't really know. As for the time thing, I pretty much freeze time in-game. As for not going to the bathroom and such, all I know is that there is a life-time reward that allows your sim not to go to the bathroom except voluntarily.

I haven't played the Sims since the first iteration back in the early 00's. As I recall I had fun with it, but mostly because I didn't play the game "by the rules." Pretty much five minutes in, I was cheating and giving my character like 3 million bucks to build a mansion. I also recall I eventually made like some kind of control chamber where I locked up my characters for days and they were forced to increase each of their stats until they were maxed out. Then... I dunno.

Oh, and there was the death house which eventually managed to kill like 20-30 sims. Tellying ya, the front yard was nothing but headstones and urns. It was fantastic.

Ah, now I'm gonna start playing Sims 3 again. I have like every expansion. Except the latest one, I think, isn't there one now with medieval shit in it or something? Not the time travel one, I have that.

Anyway, my standard play style is to make a guy, give him a normal career, invite women over for woohoo, and when one shits out a babby, trap the woman in a pantry and remove the door til she starves to death and raise the child as the next generation. Actually, I pretty much murder every visitor to the house eventually. I wonder if there's a mod where you can take accumulated tombstones and combine them into furniture.

Hilarious alien Sim-Sue life story
You need to play more sims and write more life stories about them.

I haven't played Sims 3 in months because it crashes whenever I try to run it on my new laptop (which uses Windows 8). I was under the impression it's a glitch for all Windows 8 users, but they haven't released a patch fix for it yet. Hell, the last patch was back in January so I'm worried it's already been abandoned for Sims 4 so they're not going to fix it.

Better question. Why get a new laptop if it runs Windows 8?

Played the original version for fun a few weeks ago because I watched Jace burning his house down due to the grilled cheese (:ween: :csand:). Nothing too special and a pretty good time waster and the only interesting thing I got is that I almost burned the house twice.

So how in the hell did Jane manage to get Sims 3 to run as well as it did to stream it? I don't know much about specs, nor care, and "Stryker" struck me as the sort of individual who'd pay for PC games despite his need for weed for whatever prestige conspicuous consumption is worth. I'm imagining it may have been years since anybody looked at Sims 3, so few could say for certain all the hoops you have to jump through to get the game to run smoothly on a modern machine, but I remember the community was tragically disorganized outside of NRaas's bug fixes.

I'm guessing he had an older machine? Either way it's not that hard to run, it's not like Sims 1 where you can barely play it on modern machines (at least from my experience)

Those 'you've done fucked up' alarms brought tears to my eyes when I was a kid. True terror.

I just started playing Sims 4 because Origins had a nifty sale not too long ago.
I was expecting shit, but I'm having much more fun than I thought I would!
I hate that I can't super customize my colors, but other than that the building mode is absolutely incredible. I can't stop. I'm currently trying to replicate my house exactly.
Of course, the world needs much, much more (honestly, I'm kinda glad there's no TOO much or else I'd never stop playing) but it's very entertaining.
Anyone else like the Sims 4?
