This announcement reminded me that i still havent played TW3's expansions yet. Might be a good time to get on that, ive heard great things about them.

If they had to do Ciri as the sequel, they could have really gone in interesting ways. It's hard to pull off a good multiverse game, but imagine being able to jump between time periods, dimensions, parallel worlds, doing all sorts of crazy magic shit. Really go high level fantasy with Ciri, just trying to find a place to really call home, to be left the fuck alone.
But no, let's just do another (probably lesser) Witcher game and just put Ciri in doing the same shit Geralt would. But take out the bath scenes, the sex games, and any hint of beauty. Or horror. Or wonder. And make sure to include, THE MESSAGE.

There was no need, but a Witcher game needs a Witcher. It's so fucking dumb. She has elder blood powers that make her the fastest human on earth, now she can drink potions and use signs?? How fucking OP is she now? Unless the pull some lore shit like " Over time, Ciri's powers have waned and she can no longer rely on them to get the job done" is the ONLY way I see her completing the Trail of the Grasses make sense.
I'll still give this game a try, but I dunno man..fuck it's a hard maybe.

The best ending for Ciri was always becoming the heir to the Empire; it's where she can do the most absolute good. A Witcher is a dirty pest control agent that will forever be putting out small bushfires; and achieving nothing more than literally killing monsters. Not even massively powerful ones either. Drowners and Nekkers mostly. What a complete waste of Ciri.

Yeah, the empress ending always seemed to be the best one. Plus, aren't monsters supposedly becoming more and more rare in the world? iirc, it's one of the reasons why Witchers are looked down upon, since they're no longer really needed and a reminder of a darker age.

I literally have zero interest in The Witcher 4 after watching that trailer. The story should have finished with 3, and a new cast brought in, not changing lore to make Ciri (who was a boring character anyway) into a Witcher; she's not Gerald, and shouldn't be a female version of him.

Normal difficulty? I did a playthrough not too long ago and B&W has one side quest (called Extreme Cosplay) that's completely busted on Blood March + enemy scaling enabled.
The PS5 version is an unstable pos as well, had the game lock-up multiple times, corrupt save games, slow-mo glitches.

I'm confused, the demand for Gamer outrage doesn't even outstrip supply, bizarre to see so much grasping at straws to force a Cee Dee Pee has le fallen narrative when they have been consistently making great games (yes, current Cyberpunk counts) and there are plenty of dogshit corporate products to satisfy the lust for flops. The trailer was pretty underwhelming, because it retreads themes we've already seen in the whole of Witcher, it's too safe. Ciri goes from looking like a very faithful age-up, to looking too gaunt, to looking too fat scene by scene. I think it's a shading issue, they were bragging about rendering it in UE5, so it's inconsistent. It's also outsourced to Platige Studio, who did the trailers for their other games, so just like 3 it's not going to look like that anyway.
I don't like that they made her pass the trial of the grasses somehow, it was unnecessary. She does become a Witcher (profession, not genetics) in the most popular ending, in Polish she is even called the version of the word they use for female Witchers, she doesn't need the potions. Everyone expected she'd be the next protagonist, and I'd have genuinely been interested in a Witcher game where you use her unique Elven abilities, or with a bit of a stretch the more dilute potions Yen has given to her. Probably "Witcher game where you don't have Witcher powers" was too radical and they wanted a safe game. They need a really well written reason to explain how that happened, or what her motivations were, or what Geralt did about it. They did say that all W3 endings will converge into the new story somehow, so Empress Ciri is also canon, so perhaps Emhyr was too much of a cunt and she sterilized herself to fuck up his plans. Who knows.
Character creator memes ruin storytelling, unless it's purely a visual/stats customization that has barely any impact on your roleplaying or main characte's personalty (think New Vegas) or you go the complete other way like CRPGs and have autists write hundreds of variations of dialogue and events to take account of your custom character. Witcher was always RPG in name only since you had little input on Geralt's personality and choices, a custom Witcher game would feel off. Just compare Vermintide and Diretide to see the absolute soul exsanguination when corporate demands a character creator. Should have either been an established Witcher in the past/future or Ciri, and they went for the fan pleaser option.
The game is years away from release regardless, getting mad about a story you conjured up in your head is unhealthy,

Although this is old news from November, I haven't seen anybody brought it up. A Senior Experience Designer at CD Projekt Red insulted a user on Twitter when she brought up the DEI/ESG stuff.
Screenshots taken from this video since he wound up getting suspended for whatever reason and I doubt it was this interaction. The individual tweets were archived, though.
