Today I have... Thread.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I went through 2 """gamer""" chairs (GTRacing red) and they were fucking terrible. IDK why people fucking shill these things, but I'm never buying them again.
Most of them are just cheap crap by like a half-dozen or so chinkware companies that scammers put their own label on and resell at inflated prices. My last chair before this was some crappy Wal-Mart chair with bonded leather that, as usually happens, completely fell apart after a year of use.

I don't think I'm ever going to buy a horrible cheap chair again.

Didn't sleep last night. There's a heatwave in my part of the world, combined with massive amounts of humidity, and it's so muggy and unpleasant that I've spent the last few days holed up in my bedroom with a portable aircon. This morning, as soon as it was light enough, I started in on the chores with the intention of smashing through them as quickly as possible so I could kip in front of the aircon during the hottest part of the day. I'm a little proud of myself; all the cleaning and errands done, and a little gardening as well, before 10am. I just woke up from my nap, and now I'm watching the weather radar for storms so I can bring my laundry in off the line before the storm hits.

A very ordinary kind of Sunday for many people, but I'm really not the motivated type so getting everything done in quick succession is something of a personal achievement. When it cools down enough I'll mop the bathroom and then all I'll need to do in the next few days is clean the fridge and run the donations pile down to the op shop.

Today, I have:
  • Completed all but one of my professional educations classes I need before year's end.
  • Fixed the on-off push button on my desktop that I initially believed to be irreparably broken thanks to superglue, Velcro, and finally finding something online that explained how to access the switch mechanism.

Replaced a flat tire with one of those horrible, shitty jacks that come with the car.
Does your car have a spare? I know people that have cars with a repair kit (basically fix-a-flat and a tire inflator) in lieu of an actual spare tire. If such a person has a flat tire that can't be repaired, they're pretty much screwed. Even a temporary 50-mile (80 km) donut is a better option.

Yes, otherwise I'd have been kind of fucked. It was well beyond repair. Luckily I'd also actually inflated it recently.

Also today I got a potato ricer and a bunch of potatoes, cauliflower and turnips to experiment with mashing things. I want to see if I can get a palatable shepherd's pie with riced cauliflower.

I stopped at one of the last real op shops in my city today and tripped over one of those random little treasures that you used to find in op shops, but never do now because op shops are now shiny souless corporate clones. Anyway:

I turned around and propped up in the corner was the insert from the Jeff Wayne's Musical War of the Worlds record set. My initial thought was that I could cannibalise it for the art and frame my favourite spreads, but now upon close examination it looks like it's from the very first press when the musical was released in 1978, so it's definitely staying intact. It's not immaculate; it's yellowed and worn, but there are no tears or stains and it's such a lovely little treasure. My father used to play the musical for my brother and I when we were little kids, and it was one of the rare times that we weren't at each other's throats.

Best three dollars I've spent in a long time.

Today I finally installed Magic Actions for Youtube after a 240p music video from the 80s couldn't even buffer and the tab itself was stuttering like it needed all 32 gigs of my RAM. Disabled recommended, disabled comments, disabled autoplay, disabled some of the unnecessary buttons, and it finally runs like it did 15 years ago.

Not really in the spirit of this thread, but I can't find anywhere else to post it.

Today I have learned that an old enemy of mine, a violent, wife-beating, drug-chugging alcoholic chainsmoking piece of shit, who tried to fuck up my career and whose last communication with me was to send me a death threat because I found out he was cheating on his wife, has had a massive stroke which has left him bankrupt and destroyed his ability to do all the things he loved. He's now had to sell all his most valued possessions and is begging for money on the internet to pay his gigantic medical bills.

Today I have laughed heartily at this news. Dave (not his real name), you are the biggest piece of shit I have ever met. You have ruined so many people's lives and you tried to ruin mine as well. You are also the most bigoted cunt on earth, and that's coming from me, someone who posts on Kiwifarms. I hope it really hurt you massive shitstain. Your life is ruined, and I hope you think of me as you drool and stumble towards your grave. I hope your nurses smack you around and you can't tell anyone, just like the people you threatened into silence after you beat them up. I hope those nurses put salt in your tea, just like you used to spike women's drinks and rape them. I don't believe in karma, but this was a direct result of your lifestyle being fuelled by drugs and booze for the last 20+ years. Hahaha you fuckhead. Enjoy your own personal prison.

Today I have experienced schadenfreude. Rest in piss, Dave, after however many decades it takes you to finally die. I hope it takes fucking ages and your wife leaves you, you can't beat her up for wanting to any more.

Today I have debated within my mind whether to start getting an account on Coursera and get free education on subjects that I never took the time to study in university.

It may not be the same as getting a degree these days, but I just can’t stop learning.

On my way home from running errands, I saw a petition signature person standing on a street corner that looked like SecretGamerGirl when they still had their buddha-esque beard. Thank Godbear their part of Kiwi Land and mine are nowhere near each other so that there is no chance this person was really them.

Had family dinner today at an Olive Garden, then walked in the mall across the street from it.

The mall had an FYE, which I thought had died out a long time ago, but it's not the same as it was years ago with CDs/DVDs all lined up against the wall, but instead Spencers #4587646587 with 90% of the items being "retro" stuff. Most of the DVDs and CD's they had in stock looked "bootleg-ish" except for the boxset collections which looked legit. Wound up getting Beetlejuice The Complete Series, and this thing...

It's fucking adorable, but the in-game screen looks NOTHING like what's shown in that picture. Basically it plays like someone took FlashFlashRevolution and stuck it inside a toy. Only 3 songs: Keep On Movin, Make It Better, and PARANOiA (with an out-of-sync chart). Dissapointed Brilliant2U wasn't on this, but whatever.

Afro-engineered a solution to my dead cable modem. It wasn't the modem that was dead, but the power adapter. After testing it with a multimeter (which gave weird and eldritch results) I replaced it with a similar adapter, substituting an output 12v/2a for a 12v/1.5a (the replacement part on Amazon that said it was compatible with this specific router was also 2a so I figured this was safe). Back online.

Technically did this last night but i was too tired to post it... anyway, i did a smart

You know that website that had all the south park episodes in full, but were broken up into 1-2 ads in between the episodes? Apparently it still exists - https://southpark.cc.com/

i tried to see if yt-dlp would rip them right from the website, but unfortunately it kept spitting out an error message

[download] Finished downloading playlist: Cartman Gets An Anal Probe

copy-pasting that entire divrsvc.mtvnservices.com link into a browser auto downloads an m3u8 file to your computer so I decided to copy-paste the link into VLC to Convert/Save instead, and it actually worked.

So basically the way this site operates is that each episode is not really a "full" episode video file with ads that are scripted in the specific spots that the commercials would normally play, but one episode split up into multiple video parts and saved as a playlist, and the ads are shoved in between the files. Add to the fact that the videos are 1080p (even though the original early shows are 4:3, it adds black borders on the sides, so it's a fake widescreen), so the conversion process takes a little longer than usual. So if you were actually bored enough to save every video on this site (rather than hunt down the DVDs on ebay or something or settle for LQ rips online), it would take about an hour for each episode to be ripped from the site. That's not even including daisy-chaining the parts in a video editor if you don't want to be lazy.

A lot of work for something that doesn't seem worth it but believe it or not, this shit interests me, and I've been craving for South Park as of late.

Today I wonder if I'll live to see the next day as I find less and less motivation to finish my book, the depression mounting. Not suicidal but I fear I might get some form of heart attack from the stress of being-what I perceive myself to be at least-a failure.
