TGWTG Tony Goldmark / "Some Jerk with A Camera" - Some Jerk with a Trust Fund

Can one's mind imagine the horrible little monster that Moviebob and Tony Goldmark would have if it didn't ravage the mind even thinking about it?

Why does he hate It's a Small World so much anyway? The ride is harmless, The worst thing I can say about it is the song can get a little annoying sometimes, but it's not a big budget thing, it's an innocent kids ride.

Also, if he's such an SJW shouldn't he enjoy the diversity aspect? Or is showing all kids as equals problematic?

I know, right? He's actually compared a ride that teaches little children the message of diversity and equality to the Nazis. He's nuts. Speaking of which:

Tony, "i gotta idear" is not absurdism. It's just you being an autistic idiot as usual.

He seem to be confusing absurdist with being an idiot. Serious fucking "idear" just makes him seem even dumber and just condition me to groan already at what ever words follow it.

Every interpretation of that doesn't work out that well. Either he's implying the Dems are weak and outside groups want them in power or there's a restriction on everyone who's not a "cishet" white man registering to vote or other conclusions that aren't a good sign for any party involved. This is another case of being too partisan to think. People who place all their hopes on a political party are universally lolcows.

Between 3,000,000 and 5,000,000 illegal immigrants committed voter fraud in this past election and voted for Hillary Clinton while not being US citizens, and she still lost. So what was that about the Democrats winning every time? Maybe the Dems would have a better chance of winning if they ran a candidate who isn't scummy, human trash?

Not to mention that the whole point of voter registration is to avoid things like people from other countries interfering with our election process by ensuring that only US citizens can vote.

Didn't want to mar your post with a hard disagree, but I don't buy the 3-5 million number for a second. That is a huge number of illegal votes, to the point there should be massive, unignorable evidence of voter fraud and inferred disenfranchisement of legal votes (i.e., that illegal immigrant's vote cancels out your valid one). That being said, I do agree voter fraud is a much bigger problem than the Dems or the media (BIRM) want to admit, and absolutely an ingrained element of Democratic strategy. Bit of a powerlevel here: I live in a reddish / purple island in a deep blue area. When my mother died a few years ago, we found out it is absurdly difficult to get a dead person off the rolls. They require the death certificate, an in-person visit to some bureau, proof of relationship to the deceased, etc. It was especially difficult at the time because, of course, everyone was still raw from the death, and by the time we had gained a little equilibrium about it, no one was thinking about getting her off the rolls anymore. If there's a valid reason to keep a dead person the rolls, I'd like to hear it ... but every time someone tries to get the rules changed here, the Dems fight it tooth and nail. It tells you something. I certainly agree with Tony that when the dead can vote, yeah, the Democrats will win every damn time.

We may never know. Sorry for the :offtopic:

Tony can't take someone poking fun at the fans of Rick and Morty, news at 11:

what's his complaint? they more or less agree that it's a great show, so why does her saying that the theoretical physics in it gives it a sense of depth that only those with a grasp on it can really understand such a bad thing? and not all of it is just scifi nonsense. did he really grasp the quantum uncertainty plot in the season 2 premier? that's an actual scientific principal that someone who doesn't know of it would probably guess that the episode was just about timelines branching off à la Back to the Future

I've never seen Rick and Morty, but I have to agree with him that that first line -- you have to have a high IQ to understand it -- sounds like complete horseshit, and is almost certainly the kind of self-congratulatory garbage you hear from people who think their chosen chunks of the pop culture landfill make them better or smarter than other people. (Or, for that matter, the self-congratulatory twaddle you hear from people who brag about not owning a tv. Two sides of the same coin, really.) The issue is -- why get so angry about it? Fandoms gonna fandom; this guy's rage is slopping over into increasingly inappropriate areas.

Did Tony catch a strain of MovieBob's anger management issues?

I mostly agree with you here, but like I mentioned it's more understanding it the concepts they're playing with. I think that anyone can enjoy it (personally haven't really enjoyed season 3 and stopped watching), but the sciences that are actually in it give it something extra for people who understand it beyond the "scifi gobbledygook" that someone like Tony writes it off as

Like I said, I haven't seen it, so I can't comment intelligently on it. (Not that that's ever stopped me before.) But I sorta sympathize with the guy that it's ridiculous to think you have to be highly intelligent or otherwise of rarefied tastes or knowledge to understand various things. I just find it kind of self-flattering.

On the other hand, I can completely appreciate that a smart show will have bonus nuggets of entertainment for people who are in the know for certain things. Futurama was like that (personal favorite such moment: "You changed the result of the race by measuring it!").

And yeah ... it's frustrating when dimbulbs like Tony write off the smarter concepts as just technobabble or what have you.

For those of you curious, the reason that Tony hates Fury Road because it's a "thoroughly unpleasant look into the future". Hating a Mad Max movie having a depressing future is like hating Star Wars for having spaceships.
