Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Just noticed this on the Haslab page.
>This HasLab project marks many firsts for Transformers. In addition to being Hasbro’s first Japanese canon Transformers figure,
Sooo… are they just IRL retconning this thing out of existence then? Not that I'd complain, it was shit.

Retconning TR Metalhawk, POTP Metalhawk, TR Overlord, TR Ginrai, TR Sky Shadow, Universe Sky Shadow……

EDIT: There’s another Japanese character coming out this year, Artfire!

Yeah it's a nonsense statement, but TBH I wouldn't mind getting new figs of those guys because most of them came out during the Prime Wars "all characters must have X gimmick even if they didn't originally" era which always bugged me.

That Liokaiser always just stuck out as particularly lazy and halfassed to me, I would kill to get a new one that's actually accurate.

The Metalhawks actually work well, the larger one is the inner robot and it’s headmaster can actually store inside the shell.

But I get the sentiment, Overlord could really do the commander size class justice.

Well TF Source FINALLY got Earthrise Scorponok back in stock, so hopefully I will have mine soon. I'm really looking forward to finally having it and putting on all the DNA upgrades I bought for it. I'll post pics when it's finally here.

The scorpion leg upgrades are the most involved of the current available kits, though that will probably change when the robot leg extensions are out.

Edit to avoid double post: Star Saber is at 5007/11,000

Yeah, I've got the articulated scorpion legs and shield kit, and the blaster kit. Don't plan on getting the leg extensions kit because I'm not worried about him being taller and don't have a Fortress Max figure to display him with.

My Scorponok shipped out today and should be here in two days. I'm excited to finally be getting him. I've wanted a Scorponok since the original figure was first released in the G1 toy line. My son's Ark should hopefully be arriving in two weeks or so.

I’ve wanted a Scorponok ever since I started collecting TFs as an adult. Getting him finally after all these years has been…… fulfilling almost.

I really think they should’ve focused their efforts on a tail upgrade, Scorponok being slightly shorter than Max isn’t a big deal and it’s a fun throwback to their old height difference.

The lack of ability to deploy the tail in robot mode however, that is disappointing.

The Crossover line has been doing some cool shit and it’s always a fun mystery to see which franchise gets the treatment next. The Jurassic Park two-pack is pretty popular.

Next up, based on leaks is Dracula.

I'd love to see a GI Joe/Transformers crossover where they make transforming versions of the old 80s 3 3/4" GI Joe vehicles. Maybe even an entire line since there are so many cool old Joes vehicles. I know that a 3rd Party Transformers company makes an Optimus Prime-esque figure with an alt-mode based on the Rolling Thunder GI Joe vehicle, but could you imagine a Decepticon that transforms into a Cobra Rattler or HISS tank, or an Autobot that turns into a GI Joe WHALE or the Cobra Night Raven they captured and stripped down to the shiny titanium?

Alright, coming into thread, with a very honest approach.

I’m a new fan. I know frighteningly little.

I got interested because of a single track, from a single scene, that came on when I was just clicking videos on my recommended mix feed on YouTube at work.

It was called the Death of Optimus Prime. And if honestly moved me to tears, which giving it a few listens again I’m not afraid to admit. There’s something terribly haunting about it. Like a nuclear bomb went off, and I’m witnessing the final thoughts and feelings of everyone who was to have a bright life ahead, only to have it erased in a flash and bang. It feels like the funeral to hopes and dreams the birth of monstrous uncertainty. And, after having watched the first 2 seasons and the movie, I was right. And, having my feelings on the matter be that accurately reflected into a music piece is god’s work.

I watched the show for 2 seasons, which I know is referred to a Generation 1st, or G1. I had been watching it in the background of work, vaguely interested, because it was better then serving the drunks that came in as often as they did for their wine. It distracted me and reminded me of the goofier cartoons I watched in my childhood. There was a wholesome comfort to it.

This was the point in where the movie belonging to that particular music track would kick in. I wasn’t expecting the auto bots and deceptions to have their insides cooked inside out with the light leaving their eyes as they die forever while a trail of their soul through smoke escapes through their mouth. Then, the very hero of heroes fatherly figure just. Dies. Like really dies, and you see his corpse turn to hardened stone. He’s really gone. And nothing can bring him back but another alternate universe, in another iteration.

I cannot begin to imagine the immense emotional trauma people in the 1980’s felt in theaters seeing their robot dad and moral support burn the edge of his mortal coil and pass on into the equivalent of heaven.

It’s not a good movie, in all honesty. It’s not. But it sure as hell is a jarring and fascinating one. I liked it, for all of it’s flaws. Those moments, the quiet moments between the fighting really made it for me. The “Everything will be okay, let’s goof off“ to “War hasn’t changed, life is meaningless in the face of an uncaring universe, and if all of this, all we have done, is truly meaningless, then all that we must do is give all meaning.”, it’s a surprisingly really touching and soft way to tell kids about the harsh reality of earth with a degree of separation.

And for an 80’s cartoon meant to sell toys much in the same way He-Man (a show I love and know well) did, that’s morbidly real.

I looked into it and the more I did the more confused I became with several continuities, factions, planets, and altered back stories to the cast, in particular, Optimus himself and Mega Tron. I’m interested, really, but I wasn’t prepared.

I’d like something to read, or to watch, from a personal perspective. What is your recommendation to someone like me?

Tl;Dr a soundtrack from a children’s movie on a soul sucking day of work made me cry, I got embarrassed then intrigued to find out it was from an 80’s Mecha Cartoon, watched some of it in the background, watched the film the track was from, and now it has fueled my interest. What to fuel it with is the question.

Broadside as the USS Flagg?
This should’ve been what they started with. We’ll probably see a painted prototype soon if the grey product shots are out.

Been having a blast with my Scorponok figure. He's so BIG and CHONKY! I'm really pleased and impressed with the build quality and detailing. I'll get some pics posted when I can. I also scored a new-in-box Rodimus Unicronus for $30! I'm really tempted to start saving for a Masterpiece Megatron, but there's also a couple of Third Party figures that have caught my eye. Looks like Planet X is doing another run of Apocalypse/War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron Trypticon figures that have both the A and B components. There's also a Thrid Party Overlord that has an updated look to it that I really like. Going to be buying a nice rack of shelves soon for my son and I to display our figures on.

@Thundermania I can't quote you because of the bug currently plaguing our beloved Farms, but could you imagine a USS Flagg/Broadside that's six feet long like the original USS Flagg playset from the 80s? That would be fucking insane!

Scorponok is the best Titan hands-down, it’s no wonder they revealed his repaint less than a year after his release. His problems are so small in comparison to the problems that plague the other titans.

Figure this warrants a doublepost. Keep your eyes peeled on Hasbro Pulse tomorrow. Rumour has it that more partner exclusives and Wave 4 are going up on the site, Roadrage, Buzzworthy shit, Waspinator, Slammer, Pipes, Shadow Panther and maybe restocks. It’s usually an hour or two after their livestream that the stuff goes live.

Star Saber is almost at 7,400

I made my first "expensive" transformers purchase a while ago. By expensive I mean $100, which though it's big cash for me to spend on this kinda shit considering there's a lot of people out there that constantly dish out 200 to 500 dollars per figure It's not much. Now, the transformer in question was one of those weirdly colored "test shot" copies of a figure that are usually either leaked from a factory or sold off from some employees collection. I was surprised these things vary in price so much I thought all of them were in the thousand dollar ebay scalper realm but no some actually were up for 40 or 100, completely legit ones too, mind you. The figure in question is also one that's final release version is currently being scalped for 50, 100, or 300 dollars depending on the time of day and if the scalpers are feeling particularly greedy. My logic was more or less " well shit there's no way I'm gonna get the normal one for a good price this one's cheaper and it's one of those kinda oddities I'm generally interested in so I might as well just get this fucking thing and be done with it. "
He's quite possibly going to be the only "modern scale" rhinox I'll ever own, as all other options are fucking scalped to shit, or look like shit and are also scalped to shit because distribution is shit on modern transformers. Considering it's one of those "entirely clear plastic aside from the joints which are milk white" test shots I guess i could consider it rhinox's ghost from when he showed up for a second in beast machines after he died though the colors aren't really right for that lmao. I'd post pics but I'm mildly concerned to transform him though the previous owner clearly converted him between modes and even stored his little gatling guns in the rhino mode body before they shipped it to me, especially when I'm barely awake as I've been lately.

TL;DR I now own a weird variant of the 30th rhinox that there's probably like maybe 5 or 6 copies of in existence, and it was cheaper to buy than the standard version that spiked in price once the shitty kingdom one was revealed.

EDIT: after doing quite some digging online I found a photo of one of these things. This is generally what it looks like. Not my photo obviously, but i've now saved it, compressed it, renamed it for convenience when I need to check it again sometime in the future.

100$? Damn, thought factory prototypes went for way more than that. Nice catch though.

What’s the plastic like on that thing? Is it like normal translucent figures or gummier?

But I wouldn’t lose hope on Rhinox, I’d put money down on the current one getting cleaned up with a better paint job in the Takara “Premium” line or outright redone in 1-3 years.

Or he’ll be outright retooled and rereleased in the “Golden Disk” line.

It's a test shot so it's pretty much just normal standard clear figure plastic. and yeah as I said after I saw the price on that one I ended up finding ones that were cheaper than it but I think they're all sold out where I saw them now.
Thing is even if they slughtly retool and recolor kingdom rhinox to be more accurate he's still weirldy flat and skeletal in comparison to the thrilling 30 versions. Weirdest thing is they're the exact same height and size but kingdom rhinox is all janky flat while the thrilling 30 rhinox is thick as hell. I've seen side by side photos and I have no idea how they can salvage Kingdom rhinox. he feels like a half assed last minute rush-job of a figure, and considering all the promo stuff seems to have thrilling 30 rhinox yeah it really seems they were initially just gonna reissue him.

Draculus revealed and up for pre-order on Target or Hasbro Pulse. He’s a retool of TR Mindwipe, new hands, new chest, new head and the Headmaster gimmick removed entirely. There is a guy on TFW who has it in hand, we’re waiting to see if the wings have been fixed.
