Whatever you do, don't google image search "trigger."
The trend of tagging any photograph or drawing of a human (or even an animal) looking towards the viewer as "scopophobia" is one of the dumbest of Tumblr trends.
Somebody who actually had scopophobia explained that it was fucking stupid, because of course a person who's irrationally afraid of being watched can tell the difference between a photograph and a real person, but Tumblr told them just because they felt patronized didn't mean that somebody didn't appreciate it, OMG.
This actually brings up a good topic, though; people on Tumblr tend to make up imaginary victims who are triggered by everything under the sun and need to be protected. There's nobody in the world who is legitimately triggered by things like fruit, anime, or website changes, but Tumblrites like to pretend there is so that they can look thoughtful and enlightened when they "protect" them by tagging fucking everything and tearing down anyone who doesn't.
Christ, I know people like this IRL. Every week there's some new self-diagnosed mental illness or past trauma. If there wasn't so much fucking bullshit self-diagnosis of "PTSD" going around on tumblr, trigger warnings would actually have a point. But tumblr is awash with people who are pretending to have PTSD and therefore think being triggered = 'this makes me feel a bit icky, or slightly pissed off', as opposed to "I have real-for-true PTSD and when I say I am triggered, what that actually means is I will have a full fucking meltdown panic attack, unable to breathe, chest constrictions and all, I will completely be incapacitated briefly."
People with actual diagnosed PTSD are not triggered by a list of twenty things including sponges. This is tumblr bullshit perpetrated by muppets who think that being mentally ill is kewl and speshul. It is neither. If you would like confirmation of that, find anyone you know with a diagnosed mental illness and ask them how cool and fun it is. Be sure to stand outside punching range whilst you do this.
dude not cool it would have taken 5 seconds to tag that "TW:Nested Spoilers" i'm seriously shaking now holy shitView attachment 25385 the colour blue is a trigger for me
This, this, this. There are literally an infinite variety of triggers. Somebody raped by somebody wearing red could legitimately be triggered by the exact shade of red, so you'd have to trigger warn for the colour red - and every other colour, too, because who knows what rapists might wear?
I wish I had taken screencaps of these, but I think the stupidest trigger warning posts I've ever seen was "twoffee" and someone claiming they got triggered by Pusheen.
This is one of my favorite Tumblr posts, holy shit. It perfectly encapsulates the mentality of these Tumblrinas.
