Far Cry 7 will reportedly see players attempting to rescue their kidnapped family against the clock (Eurogamer)

Oof, a ticking clock not only takes away from the freedom that Far Cry games are supposedly about, but the typical person that would be an Ubisoft fans strikes me as being someone who doesn't enjoy having to race against a ticking clock even if it is 24 real time hours.
and seemingly must be completed within - 72 in-game hours, equating to 24 hours in real-time.
That just says to me that the game is either going to be extremely short, or it'll be nearly impossible to beat without microtransactions that extend the clock.

IDK

Far Cry campaigns have never been that long IMO. I think if I rush through them without fucking around they're like 8 hours tops.

If this is true, it just feels like a gimmick that people won't like. I could see this being a case where Ubisoft will get bit in the ass for not just naming the game something else because retards who can't handle time management will cry that it isn't "Far Cry". (then again, they've cried that for every game since 3 and the shit still sells)

This is ridiculous. It's like they have no idea of what Far Cry is all about.

i mean, at least its going for something different this time. most of you guys complain about this game being 100+ hours of work basically and this switches things up (plus it was sort of a game mode for the past 3 far cry games already i think) i will watch with caution what happens

As someone who loved Dead Rising before 4 came out, this sounds mighty interesting
As someone who knows how Ubisoft works, this will be a safe game with little to no challenge and the game won't actually punish you for anything. It will be another micro transaction ridden mess, and the time limit will be there more so that people will buy the "remove time limit" DLC than for fun gameplay purposes
Still not playing it, FC1 and 2 were the only good ones

Some mod crapped the thread title, because of this here is Jade and Pey'J Netflix adaptation:

What in god's name is that? Please don't tell me this is supposed to be BG&E

What a weird computer=real time ratio. I distinctly remember people whining about it when far cry 2 had a 4/1 ratio and thats insanely low compared to most video games where its roughly 30/1 even dead rising was a 12/1 and again had people angry about the time scale. IIRC even modders can't set the time scale to under 6/1 in a lot of engines because shit starts breaking. Why not make it a week or month? Especially because most casuals would get pissed about loading the game only to be stuck at 2am again. And thats if there will be any notable differences, i have a feeling whatever shithole this far cry game is set in will have 24 hour everything.

I'm a Far Cry fan at the end of the day, which has gotten me shit on here.

I don't think the idea is awful in itself for a game. I think the fact they are tying it to Far Cry is a bad idea for marketing. As a guy who's favorite is Far Cry 2, maybe that will explain my thinking on this.

I have similar thoughts to how they kept calling them "Assassins Creed" when most of they turned them into half baked RPG's.

I could see it working if they took the Dead Rising route where you are expected to fail a couple times and can carry new skills and equipment into the next run to improve your results.

The games are all about wandering an open world, hunting animals and exploring shit though, so unless it's just enemy camps : the game, I'm not sure how much fun it would actually be in practice.

I actually liked the first Watch Dogs quite a bit. Blowing up chunks of Chicago with my phone while gunning down mooks with Rise Against blaring? Damned fun.

Then Watch Dogs 2 turns it into a quirky hipster satire thing, and I bounced off that hard.
I actually like Watch Dogs 2. It's a better GTA than GTA now. However, the quirky, happy-go-lucky characters with their anti-establishment mantra goes against the trigger-happy, guns blazing formula this genre is known for. Or, it's an accurate representation of how morals would go out the window to achieve whatever you want in the name of social justice.

Either way, as a game, I enjoy the freedom it provides to the player.

So last night The Division had a livestream update for the new season, and it was the usual fucking mess. Why is their community manager so fucking useless? Couple of hilarious things though. First they're adding an extra week to events that absolutely do not need it as a way to pad out the length of the season. Secondly they're nerfing the new exotic SMG from the PTS version. However they're not nerfing it because it's too OP (even after the nerf it's something like ~60% more powerful than the current meta weapons), but because apparently their servers are so fucking shit the insane RPM was breaking them. So TD2 is a looter shooter where the loot system is so fucked there isn't enough stash space for every piece of gear (and they can't add more), and the shooter aspect is so broken that the weapons are causing the servers to commit sudoku. Multi-billion dollar company BTW.

Former Ubisoft executives arrested for sexual assault
Five former Ubisoft executives have reportedly been arrested by French police following a year long investigation into sexual assault and harassment within the company.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, Serge Hascoët and Tommy François are among two of five executives to be arrested following an investigation into their behavior.

The investigation proceeded allegations that came to light in 2020 of harassment and abuse at the company. At the time over three dozen current and former Ubisoft employees blew the whistle on how women were treated by the France-based game studio.

Shortly after the allegations Serge Hascoët and Tommy François both left the company. According to the plaintiffs’ lawyer in the impending case, the behavior of these former Ubisoft executives “reveals systemic sexual violence.”

Why not make it a new game at least so people know what to expect? A 24 hour campaign is also really fucking bad, since fucking up will mean losing days of gametime. Either make it extremely short or give us infinite time.

ass creed 77.png

Another half-billion dollar investment that goes nowhere.

I actually didn't even know this game would be released soon.

I watched the skillup review just out of curiosity and he said it was supposed to be a DLC.

Resident Evil 3 scenario. Only UbiSoft to copy one of the biggest mistakes of recent years. Capcom learned it the hard way but these idiots thought it was an amazing decision apparently..
