I wouldn't be surprised if this was entirely made up. Ubisoft released a list of planned AC games a couple of years ago and there was no mention of this setting.
There is a worse idea coming and it is probably aimed at the wine aunt audience: AC Hexe, the one with the witches.
Pretty much this. If the game were in pre-production, which would make sense with hexe presumably in production, then we wouldn't even be seeing this supposed post civil war game for another what, 4-5 years? We don't even have a trailer for hexe yet other than the announcement back in 2022 so even that game is likely still 1-2 years out(remember, they were planning to get at least 6 months or more worth of bullshit out of Shadows with DLC and crap).

I'd suspect at most this was just some shit on someone's ideaboard that got a "No" from middle management.

Speaking of nigger-worshipping propagandists, what ever happened to the disgraced (((Limey))) fanfiction writer? Did he get tired of self-editing and sourcing his own wikipedia pages on yasuke?
The interest went away with the game. You can ask the same about where all this shilling and defending went when the game released and was forgotten like barely a week later.

It is sometimes truly incredible (when you step back and look at it from a distance) just how fucking fast all that support evaporates once the product itself flops and it becomes clear it can't be salvaged. All that effort to astroturf an entire academic career, prop up a completely phony narrative, and score a "cultural win" by contaminating Japanese history with a blatant lie just vanished like a fart in the wind.

I know it never happens IRL because the guilty parties have just seamlessly transitioned (heh) onto the next grift, but I wonder what it would be like to get a bunch of them in a little room together, point out all that wasted effort that turned out not to be worth it overall, and ask them how they feel about pissing away all that time, energy and life on it.

You'd have to think that maybe behind closed doors there's at least a modicum of these companies realizing they fucked up by giving into these activists and thinking they would be lucrative for their business. All they get is a bunch of shills and defenders yet when it is time to pay up they're phantoms. Then you realize that in order to try and pretend what wasn't put out was a waste of time nobody would have cared about anyway even without the discourse they go "it must have been the racists because we totally had another hit idea that would have knocked your socks off." and the same people that didn't even buy Shadows take the bait so easily and act like that is why the game didn't sell. It's comedically depressing how easy it is to rally this internet slacktivist audience.

FIFY. Reminder, once Whites are minorities in their own lands as opposed to just the world like they are now - the Kike Governments of the west still won't allow them to reap the gib benefits of actually being a minority. It's almost like the end goal is genocide.

What's up with that foot-fetishist jew and putting interracial couples/gay interracial rape scenes in every single one of his movies? I mean I get it, "Semite" and all that... but gay interracial rape scenes? You should never have a disproportionate amount of those in anything, ever. Tarantino needs a coffin alongside Melvin Kavinsky.

Thomas Locksey? Faded into obscurity probably. Hopefully his career is over.

He got fired from his job, after ig has been found out he wrote vast stuff about Yasuke on Wikipedia himself, and quoted himself and his faggy book as source.

Bluesky has been acting as normal as expected since their revisionist propaganda/KKK murder simulator was canceled.

Hope they plan on quartering the Union League too.

They really think the KKK is just hanging out at every Walmart waiting to neck blacks and trannies.

Some septum-piercing was salty over having their high concept pitch shitcanned, so they went to the press. It's also not outside the realm of possibility that someone is floating this balloon hoping to gauge interest in the concept--albeit not necessarily in an AC context.

Nothing hits just right like a fat furry literally who vtuber crying as he calls you a "snowflake" and spergs out about da KKK for absolutely no reason
Good to see the last few remaining Assassins Creed fans circling the wagons like this, I am sure the intern at Ubisoft who spitballed the idea appreciates it.

We're talking about a far left idiot who has no understanding of the real world. The first thing they assume is that the KKK actually had anything to do with the confederacy... tangentially at best, but is that any wonder when these people actually believe that 50% of the population of the USA is a bunch of nazis? They have no idea what the fuck these terms mean and throw them around so often that they have no meaning.

This is a person who goes grocery shopping, and is willing to assume that up to half of the people in the store with them are "nazis". This is not a person that can ever be considered rational.

Ubisoft related, remember the left-wing outcry about Far Cry 5 not being political enough from its separatism setting in contemporary Trump America?

I guess that side mission from Red Dead Redemption 2 or that Southern Union boss fight from Mafia III isn't enough for them.

Note, this isn't against having the KKK as an adversary, it's the blatant political propaganda stemming from the WHY it's a big deal to them.

What an absolute terrible idea. From every level just a horrible idea.

Guaranteed to incite controversy when the country is so tense we're executing YouTubers, and in a country the series has already explored and during a time that's much too close to modern. Assassins (as we've come to know them in the games) are believable in a world that revolves around melee combat - but in a world with fucking Gatling Guns? where Revolvers were becoming commonplace?

It would barely be an Assassin's Creed at that point - not a chance this gets past the ideas stage if it was ever there at all. "Oh so we'd have to rework the entire game and get a whole gaggle of bad press on top of our company dying? Yeah let's do it."

Remember, the original dev team didn't want to do a WW2 entry despite how much they knew people would love it and guns being everywhere was one of those reasons. And here is another team that wants to do just that over any sort of common sense telling you that you shouldn't because muh slavery, Ubisoft really is just a daycare for mentally unwell adult children.

All this talk about Tencent and Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six Siege X is on the decline because of cheaters and balancing issues.

You know it's bad when one of THE prominent Rainbow Six Siege streamers, Jynxzi, seemingly retired it for a mobile game.

>Templars

Hmm.

Man, we've really fallen from "Every side in WW2, allies and axis, were Templars. All of them." all the way down to "literally every group of bad guys in history were Templars." huh?

I'm sorry but why the would big picture secret societies like the Templars give the faintest of fucks about murdering random black people and burning crosses in their back yards? If anything the Templars would be pro-reconstruction, completely overhauling the societal and industrial structure of the South is the perfect way to set up new avenues of control and power. Templars would be all over that shit.

The og KKK also have way too little power in the post Civil War era to be Templars. The original KKK were just random fucks and former confederates running around in forests and killing people, and that group only lasted from 1865 to 1872 before being disbanded and officially outlawed by the government.

The Grand Dragon at the time was the one who gave the order to disband, specifically because they were too disorganized and unruly to control (totally sounds like Templars amirite). They didn't even have an official uniform and were essentially just a notorious gang at the time, who, at their absolute peak, had around 100k members total. Think... MS-13 but white guys.

The KKK people actually think of when you mention the name is the post re-establishment KKK from 1915-onwards, which were the guys in white pointy hoods that had a bunch of politicians and local officials as members and associates. That KKK had well over 3 million members at it's peak in the 1920s and a bunch of political power just from it's high-level members.

The KKK in Mafia III are more likely to be Templars than the ones in this """"cancelled"""" game just from a logistical standpoint.

Though tbf I doubt this was ever anything real. Just a shameless attempt to peddle a racial power fantasy, and more likely than not was canned in the same meeting it was pitched.

I like how nobody at Ubisoft every sat down and thought things through to their logical conclusion.

One side wants absolute control, the other absolute freedom, and yet the former is bad and the later is good?

Surely, I am not the only one that sees the blatantly obvious issue of removing every form of morality, law and order from society, right?

Also, all the leftists masturbating at the thought of killing Templars (which is everyone that disagrees with them), would be the first ones to cry foul at a libertarian/anarchist society and try to impose rules because some people were enjoying their freedom the wrong way.

It's also the issue of that the Templars were likely the forces in the North in the Civil War, as they benefit the most from a centralized federal power structure and the control it brings. Which would realistically mean the KKK being a bunch of much smaller and unorganized cells would put them into the Assassins camp - fighting back against the Templar power grab.

There's also the issue that for a good Assassin's creed game - you need the enemy to be compelling as well. They should be smart, capable, powerful, and most of all - relatable. Haytham Kenway comes to mind - but you can fairly easily romanticize a British Soldier from the 1700s during the American Revolution because so much time has passed. You cannot begin to try and do that with a literal Ku Klux Klan member (or a Nazi for that matter, which is why I'm sure they skipped over WW2).

I'm not even a huge Assassin's Creed fan but even I can see it's just so poorly thought out on so many levels. The series needs to be in the distant past where the conflicts can be romanticized but the player base has an idea of the events. This makes the fact that they entirely wasted the Sengoku period on Assassin's Creed Shadows even worse then it already was.

Don't forget that the "good guys" call themselves "Assassins".

Speaking of Templars, the writers who took over after Désilets was fired all used it to paint the politicians they don't like as Templars.
I remember on AC Unity they wanted to add in the lore/database the current French President (Nicolas Sarkozy at the time) as a Templar and they scrapped it because they were worried about getting sued by Sarkozy. If I'm not mistaken, every Republican US President has been a Templar or a pawn of them.

Exactly. If they had any balls to be true to the setting and history, the Templars would have organized the Union League and used the freeblacks to do their bidding to weaken the South at it's most vulnerable time and take control of its resources which they were exploiting priorly anyway. You could still even have a black protagonist find out they're being used by a shared enemy and work together, or even have dual protags again.

The symbolism of overcoming racial divides to bring the country together again would have been powerful and highlight the usual true enemies as the ruling class that pit everyone against each other. They could even plant the seeds for the Assassin's to end segregation later in history if thy wanted to virtue signal, but they have no nuance or skill to bring that to fruition successfully, let alone swallowing their pride to admit the original KKK wasn't all scary baddies and not paint them in the most horrible light possible. It would just be 'blacks good, whitey bad, now give us our asspats gaming journos.' I can aready imagine the fights if they had an unbiased history consultant come in and butt heads with their DEI department.

I genuinely hate the Assassin/Templar plotline, and the hunt for the dumbfuck alien mcguffins, plus the whole overarching narrative. It just feels so childish, reducing the whole of humanity history to two groups of poorly written dumbfucks duking it out, and every event seen through that prism.

Assassin's Creed should have been a franchise about assassins throughout history - maybe a few games would follow the same character, but in general they'd focus on different protagonists in different historical periods and geographical locales, the only connecting thread being that they want to kill someone.

This would allow you to play as a ninja in Japan, a Templar in Jerusalem, a cowboy in the Wild West, a KGB agent during the Cold War etc., and to reinvent the franchise as many times as you want. so you wouldn't have to always feature parkour, or the wrist blade, or the dumb white hood.
