think Judge Dredd vs Death is limited in the resolutions you can use, and overlays like Steam and Discord crash the game.
Worked fine on the Steam Deck this summer Dredddeath.jpg

The last one that really did it for me was Aerobiz. I played it on an emulator at the time. It was very disturbing how I forgot about time. Dangerous even.
So one day I came home from work, decided to play a SNES game and picked Aerobiz. No idea what it was. Tea is nice so I filled a saucepan with water and put it on the stove. Then I went and started playing. I stopped playing because I was parched, then I discovered that I had to be back at work soon, then I remembered the saucepan! The parts that hadn't blackened was glowing red.
That day at work was rough.

Aerobiz is a good game.
I liked the second one(Aerobiz Supersonic) better, but Hell yeah, I've killed a lot of hours on that. It might be the game that got me into economic sims. I remember the first time I rented it at the video store and my friend looked at me like I was crazy. Then he became more of an economic sim/4x autist than me. Good times.

How about Theme Hospital, or the Rollercoaster Tycoon Series? So many hours of my youth. And I'm old enough to remember when TTD meant Transport Tycoon Deluxe (ohhhhh, my heartstrings, thank the Lord for the fine people at OpenTTD) and not Total Tranny Death.

Been thinking about a Steam Deck, but I wanna look more into the ROG or Lenovo handhelds before I make a decision. Anyone have one of those? Any thoughts? I've used a Steam Deck and like them, but wanna look a bit before I drop several hundred bucks.

So, I'm asking you, dear Kiwis - which games have the ability to turn you into Tyrone Biggums? Which are the games that can make you neglect food, drink, sleep, hygiene and loved ones?
Oh god probably Skyrim. I was pledging at a fraternity at the time and loads of brothers and pledges were playing constantly for the first week or so, all comparing experiences. It was the last time I experienced that as a lot of dialogue surrounding games moved online afterwords.
Hard Reset
It's been a long time since I heard anyone mention that game. I'll probably have to replay it to see if it was as good as I remember.
And then there's the indies/boomer shooters like Dusk, Boltgun, Ion Fury, etc. I've not played most of them so can't comment, but again, most people seem to love them.
Turbo Overkill is excellent. I've only put a few hours into it but it's the best indie fps I've played all year.

Two Point Hospital is solid fun on the Switch at least

Campus is a mess tho.
That's a shame. I've had Campus in my backlog because I wanted to see them branch out instead of cloning old Bullfrog games.

Same. I've not played it since 2014 according to Steam.

I have a soft spot for indie games or even small AAA games of that era that were considered great at the time then were never mentioned again. Games like Hard Reset, Renegade Ops, Trials, Assault Heroes, or Shadow Complex. I forget which thread I said this in, but it's strange to me how so many of the astroturfed indie like Fez and Gone Home still top "best indie games of all time" lists.

Those were fantastic as well. One title I've mentioned in other threads is Capitalism+, it's a really fun economic sim.

Another forgotten title that I really liked was Patrician.

FEAR is also good, and I'm including FEAR 2 and 3 in that. The sequels get shit on, but they're fun. Fear 3 also has some fun co-op if you can find someone to play it with. It's a crime Fucking Run never became a staple co-op mode.
Trepang2 is basically FEAR 4, and fell off the radar this year...

Just wanted to say that the original XBOX console celebrated it‘s 22nd anniversary two days ago

I still have to get around playing OddWorld Munch’s Odyssey. In fact, I was surprised to find out that Conker: Live & Reloaded was the remastered and improved version of Conker‘s Bad Fur Day.

So after a couple of misfires, WarTales has successfully pulled me in and has been the only thing to distract me from finishing Yakuza. It's slow as hell, and even more punishing, but I found myself playing until 2am last night because "there's time for just one more contract".

Low fantasy sandbox mercenary game is something I never thought I'd be this into. Might start a thread on it later and see if any other Kiwis are active.

Grim Dawn got a big ol' update, and rebalance, in preparation for the expansion that's coming out. I haven't played it since I'm in the middle of a couple things but it seems pretty cool that they'd do it for free; and it all seems pretty player friendly (cut down on junk loot, getting rid of archaic level restrictions tied to difficulties, a shit ton of skill and item re-balancing, etc). Not sure if I'll get to it before the expansion comes out, but I plan on buying it if only to support a studio of people actually interested in making good games.

From a couple of hours of what I played of it they added a dodge mechanic and made all the "you need to toggle this skill to activate" skills automatic. I am liking the changes so far.

Gameplay videos of the upcoming Vanillaware game Unicorn Overlord, releasing in March 8, 2024.

Looks awesome, like everything Vanillaware touches. Like Vanillaware Ogre Battle. Hope it comes to PC or something emulatable.

I just finished up the Super Mario RPG Remake after just under 9 hours. Was fun revisiting a classic. Not sure I loved the new 3D artstyle but the music arranges were great and all the quality of life improvements were nice to have after having already played the game a half dozen times over my lifetime. I'm not sure if it's worth $60 bucks, maybe $40? I emulated it because the Switch is so underpowered I can't deal with the frame drops and it ran almost flawlessly.

Got some questions about a game: it's called Mutant: Year Zero - Road to Eden. It was a launch title for the PS4, but I don't really remember seeing many people talking about it after it came out; saw a few posts here and there, some negative, but not much really being said about it. So... how is the game, really? I know that it had a DLC released for it, but how is the game really? Is it worth picking up for cheap?
