Are videogames for children?

That was both faggy and autistic. Does it get any better once the actual round starts?
Micspam is typically a pre-round thing, and it's less common on some servers. This was admittedly an extreme example; usually it's just people shooting the shit and often someone plays a song over the mic when moving to the first point.

Yoshitaka Murayama, creator of Suikoden, passed away on Feb 6th. Won't even get to see his last game come out.
That's terrible, I hope it does well. RIP.
I couldn’t believe that it was almost a week since I’ve been gone offline and this was the news that shocked me more than the Pop Tarts creator and twomad dying.

Suikoden and Suikoden II will be forever the best games that made me appreciate the JRPG genre.

Even the music was fantastic:

I only played the first Suikoden, but it's one of my favorites on the system. I wanna play Suikoden 2 but I'm too lazy to find and install Suikoden 1 save data for the carryover content, and don't want to play without it.

Railroader is a pretty decent austim simulator.

Bit of a random question for everyone, but does anyone remember that Neverwinter MMO made by Cryptic Studios years ago? It's still going, and free-to-play, but how does the game actually play these days? I was considering giving it another go sometime in the future, but is it even worth it?

Aye I remember it, it's the one and only MMO I've ever actually played and that was only cause one of the boys wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. I can't comment on how it plays these days as the last time I played was about 2 years ago. It's pretty good but their prices were shocking. There was a way to earn in game currency (diamonds I think) that you used to be able to farm fairly easy however they severely nerfed it so you'd need to buy boosters if you wanted to upgrade your gear without wasting a week. I wasn't doing that shit or paying them money so I fucked off out of it.

Bought one of those snazzy Razer Kitsune Chun-Li arcade controllers. Pretty sleek piece of hardware, but going to take hours to get comfortable with it.

I've always wondered how popular those actually are. I think I've only ever saw 1 dude actually use it in a tourny. Don't think I could get the hang of it myself I'm too used to a controller. How does it go?
Ever wanted a crossover between W40K and PowerWash Simulator? Well, here you go:

That goes surprisingly hard for a fucking power washing game! I keep saying I'll try to get into W40k after playing Space Marine but I've no fucking idea where to start.

I went to two tournaments in 2022 and saw a bunch of hit boxes, but that was also when the "controversy" was big, if I recall correctly. It's weird, I am used to arcade sticks and have my muscle memory, but surprisingly it doesn't take too long to get the basics down when switching. Booted up SF6 and was able to win a couple of casual matches and even land a SPD or two with Zangief. GGST was a bit different, but I was able to win a round. I think if you're not used to arcade sticks, it's probably easier to switch to leverless. It all comes down to preference, but I think with time and effort, leverless is probably the best option.

Ah I got you. It looked - and I can't think of a less wanky word for it - pretty "innovative" when I first scoped it. I thought it was one of those gimmicky things at first but seeing it in action made it look like a pretty viable option. I don't trust any companies when it comes to their own products so I like to get an unbiased view on things like this. They are expensive as shit too at 350 fucking bones so I wouldn't sink that much into something that could be a gimmick. Being able to do Giefs SPD is a nice test but I'd love to see how it handles Guile's or Vega's super. I dunno if SF6 uses the same command prompt for those 2 mind you, so maybe it's not even necessary.

I do because I still remember how hard cryptic fucked up and how much entertainment playing with /v/ at launch was. they (among a few others) managed to completely crash the economy with no survivors by duping and exploiting the fuck out of it - which got unfixed for so long anything cryptic could do is either sing into kurt cobain's last microphone or only put a bandaid on it (the actual rollback was mere 7 hours for shit that went on for weeks). but hey, at least we got a nice cape out of it: https://neverwinter.fandom.com/wiki/Caturday_Survivor's_Pack

it's even worse when you know how and why. the first was a dupe-bug. in true f2p fashion you had to buy a protection or upgrades might delete stuff. well turns out when you quickly change the item in the slot while doing it, that gets destroyed instead - because a) the slot isn't locked and b) it's per slot, not per item.

the second was a free crystal bug, that ironically also happened in star trek online a year earlier. and was already fixed there. apparently no one on the neverwinter team told them about it or they bothered to check it. can't remember it exactly, but iirc you could simply list something for a negative amount... which them either became free or even gave you astral diamonds.

all in all it was more hilarious trying to find ways to fuck with the game instead of the game itself.

Out of all the options, leverless is the fastest and most precise, with time and effort. Doesn't matter for 99.9% of people. I am a casual and won't become an EVO champion because I bought some weird controller. Games are my favourite hobby, and I have the leisure and disposable income to just buy something like that. But it is too expansive. Somewhere around 150-200 € would have been an acceptable price point. Definitely makes sense to get an unbiased opinion. It is a great piece of hardware, but you can get cheaper alternatives. I booted up SF6 this morning and won a match with Gief because I was able to do the Bolshoi Strom Buster so it definitely isn't a gimmick. I know they changed something with the inputs because you could buffer opposite direction, which made charge characters crazy good. Guile is still dangerous because of the speed of your inputs with a leverless. At least from my understanding, otherwise you will have to ask someone who plays him. Only Gief for me.

If only buying a weird controller was all it took to be an EVO champ! I can see how a leverless setup would be johnny-on-the-spot precise because there's no travel time between directional inputs and it's got to be nigh on impossible to accidentally hit a direction you didn't mean to like can happen on a normal pad. Same goes for why after a bit of fannying about with it it might even feel more natural to use it that way than with a stick or d-pad. Something has literally popped into my head there, now I can understand why you have some people who play fighting games with a keyboard. I thought they were merely autistic to the max but it's no doubt that it must have the same feel to it.

Aye I totally understand that as I'm the exact same as yourself. The amount I sink into games and their paraphernalia gives Mrs Brigadoom high blood pressure. :story: I've had some unforeseen shit happen that's sapped a load of cash so I'm trying to be a bit more cautious for a few months before I get back on my bullshit again. I've no doubt you'll have generic versions of those pads popping up all over the place soon if they haven't already. You'll know yourself anytime anything is even remotely successful you start seeing generic versions everywhere.

I'm not a charge character aficionado myself so it wouldn't really affect me either. I mostly care just out of sheer curiosity. My first thought usually goes to gimmick when it comes to novel ideas like the hitbox, mostly because normally any good way to play a game has already been thought up and exploited by now. So it's not often you get a unique, well thought out and an (actual) good idea.

The dual directional input ability was banned from Capcom's official tournaments and most likely other tournaments too I believe. I don't know if the manufacturers would completely disable that ability on the pad via an update or if it's possible to be able to toggle it on or off. I assume it's likely the former option though.

How the hell do crossovers like that happen? I remember a rumour that Kingdom Hearts only exists because Disney and Square employees shared an office.
Crossovers used to be this cool rare thing, now everyone does it and its just another form of entertainment slop.

If you thought Payday 3 was just as shit when it comes to it's predecessor, the indies are just in the same boat.
