Are videogames for children?

Impending disaster published by Paradox interactive Prison Architect 2 has been delayed again this time they have no release date set and are refunding all pre-orders which is a weird step I haven't seen often. They also brought on another development studio called Kokku onto the project.

Maybe paradox is learning from it's recent fuck ups? Or it is just really really really bad right now. Either way I believe it is going to be shit because the 3d environment is going to be impossible to mod and adds nothing to the game, also the art style can be best defined as "Funko pop mobile game style" oh well another series ruined by publishers.

Is that the bloody soundtrack that is all terrible bleeds and bloops that was apparently made by a guy pretending to be deaf in Japan? Fuck man, i'm not kidding when I say this but that OST is so bad that it is a hazard to your health, no joke. It melts your ears and starts to turn your brain into a crumbling sponge cake. Don't ever listen to any track or you will regret it.

Whenever I put on the RE safe room compilation on Youtube I make sure to skip that awful OST because I don't even want to hear even a second of it. You could play that shit over loud speakers at a riot and it would drive everyone away instantly.
I've never been sold a video game soundtrack harder than this, looking it up now.
Are any of the Titan Quest AE Expansions worth it?
Ehhhh on sale they are... Well maybe not embers.

The original was rated M, this one was rated T, so it's already going to suck even before we get to the wretched art style.

Prison Architect getting bought by Paradox was really heart-breaking to what I considered the best game I played in the year 2016.

I'm really pissed multiplayer was never expanded upon. I am pretty sure a part of the sale deal was the game had to add multiplayer, because the previous devs added the most barebones buggy system ever then sold the next update.

Then paradox doesn't do jack shit with it. It'd be super fun to have your friend trying to escape mode from your prison or playing as a guard while your building it. In fact escape mode needs some work too.

But paradox would rather just make shitty DLCs using the existing systems and reskinning it.

Yeah, I was disappointed how shit the DLCs looked. All the features I really wanted—co-ed prisons, firing squads, prison farms...none of that happened.

Did they censor any of what I assume were Patreon donor submissions? Some of them were pretty funny, there was one for Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner.

Are you still alive?

The worst one is the RE directors cut save room OST (or is it the directors cut analog edition?).

People say that Lavender town is insanity inducing but they don't know the true horrors of shit video game music.

Saw this and thought of this thread. Small reminder most game VAs are pozzed to hell and back and AI replacement (even though I myself am ambivalent on it) can't come quick enough for these sellouts.

I believe Geralt has taken out contracts on monsters that have impersonated women/children and has no patience for rapists.

Psychonauts, a game from 2005, somehow runs smoother on my laptop (from 2021; Iris XE iGPU) and my Steam Deck than on my desktop. Even docking the monitor's refresh rate down to 59.94hz doesn't change anything. It's still perfectly playable, it just has very slight skips that are indicative of not having Vsync. Even though Vsync is on. Weird problem.

I've been having severe technical issues with my pre-built PC and it has sort of killed my motivation to game. That's what I get for trusting someone else to do a job I should have done myself. Been playing through Trepang2 on the Steam Deck to fill the space until I get the refund sorted out.

Honestly I think this game is way better than Fear. Fear is fun, but the AI is mostly smoke and mirrors and the combat in this is very satisfying. Moreso than Fear.

Anyone have any suggestions for a longer but not too difficult SRPG? Something I can play for 20-30 minutes per mission and put down where I don't need to min-max to get through the story.
I don't know if it fits, but Valkyria Chronicles games. The missions are a bit longer (some can go 45 mins plus) but you suspend at any point. VC in particular has the story in bite sized chapters, and each chapter is divided into several sub pages. There isn't much to min max, with a couple of notable abilities you need. (In 4 you need the snipers penertrating shot for the end game bosses). I've not played 2, but that was a PSP game with a focus on smaller battles.

Mechanicus (though the difficulty is front loaded, once you have a few levels and so gear the same is substantially easier), but that doesn't have much of a story. Ditto Xcom Enemy Within. Play them on the lowest difficulties and don't be afraid to lose a guy or two from time to time.

Not a strategy game, but a squad based third person shooter. The Bureau Xcom Declassified. The game has you manage and upgrade your squad throughout the game through a very simple upgrade and class system. Again, put it on easy so you don't have to save scum some of the trial and error sections.

Honestly couldn't care less about a voice actors political opinion if the games quality is good I'll buy it anyways it's a non issue. Don't see why I should care.

I gave Conscript a shot and I stopped playing after reaching the third level.

The game is top down PSX style survival horror set in WW1. I gave up mainly because it is just unbearably slow and added with fuckton of backtracking and boring map design (with arbitrary routing), the game became more of a chore to play than fun. Yeah I'm not expecting fast paced action but the horrors of the trench go away once you waste an hour looking around for the item to unlock more of the map.
I'm up to chapter 4 now. Probably the closest thing to an actual survival horror game in awhile now. The issue is when you forget that one area you didn't explore and then realize you have to go back to it. Not crazy about having a merchant/currency in the game. Signalis never needed that crap.

It helps to enable the repeating cycle of DEI values being put in games. It popularizes the sentiments they carry the flag for. It pulls the normies in further.

I myself wouldn't give a fuck because I don't really care about a VA's politics either, however this has nothing to do with how I think. Fans place these people on pedestals, they treat them like full-on celebrities if they're autistically bound enough to their favorite piece of media. It's much of how pop culture operates today and for them, video games are no different.

The Witcher, being an incredibly popular series with a huge portion of its enormous fanbase being she/theys who love nothing more than to worship their favorite fictional character while inserting them as stand-ins for real life inspirations; not only inadvertently normalizes such concepts, but makes them desirable. Not through the media itself, but by the people who care for it. An approval from the VA who voices their favorite "silly little white haired meow meow" only pours gasoline over their bonfire of caustic autism.

So what? Well, unfortunately this is what young people and teenagers interact with, en-masse. It's the new vogue. It's how we got Twitter culture. And it's why, when you type in "Geralt of Rivia" into Google Images and scroll down far enough to find a blurred picture and make the mistake of clicking on it, you're likely to get a drawing of him with a pussy and mastectomy scars.

And sure, I can switch off the computer, I can go outside and touch grass. But when I'm writing a paper on translation practices in video games and half the resources I find mention queer-coded characters and how best to represent their gender through the medium of language, then the lambs start, and won't stop, screaming.

One of the benefits the rainbow cult get out of turning every single property into the same grey ooze of trannies and Seattle Starbucks hipster humor is that it's a lot easier to then create cross over games where it's so much easier to consooooom. Game of Thrones meets Baldurs Gate meets Witcher Vs, Nazi Fascist Christian Sunday School Teachers.
