I'm downloading Ghost of Tsushima, excited to finally play it. Anything I should know before I start?

Thoughts on Cris Tales? It's just a few bucks on sale.
It's very much middle of the road. Not awful, but not great and it gets repetitive pretty quick. Enjoyment seems to hinge on whether or not you like the art style and story or not.

I really wish the "extraction shooter" trend would die, just hearing those two words kills any interest I have in a game. It feels like every time I see a trailer for a game with a cool eldritch horror setting it's an extraction shooter. It's even more annoying because these settings seem like they would make for really cool single player games. For instance, The Hunt: Showdown: I would absolutely love a single player weird west game where you hunt down monstrous abominations.

Isn't the new Marathon one of those? Instead of, you know, sticking to the style that made it into a cult classic series. Let's turn it into a copy paste Tarkov clone with some sci-fi assets.
Hard to think of anything more soulless than taking a beloved old game and just appropriating its name for something completely unrelated like a parasitic skinwalker.

I wanna rant about a something I find extremely stupid. I've started playing Wasteland 3, which I put off for a really long time seeing as though I enjoyed Wasteland 2 almost a decade ago and 3 has been out for like 5 years now.

I'm at a part where a group of raiders was let into a town with inside help and you're trying to find out who did it. You get proof that the local shady club owner is responsible and show it to the sheriff who gives you permission to kill him because of it. When you go and talk to him and attempt to arrest him he initiates combat and him and his goons all immediately attack. It's about 8 enemies, including the owner who is a boss level enemy and I'm playing on the hard difficulty so letting them get a full turn before I can do anything is not feasible at all as even regular enemies will two shot me if I don't have any time to position and get the first strike. Well, that's simple... I'll just shoot him in the face first since I obviously have permission from the Sheriff!

Problem is one of my companions who was formerly a direct underling of the Sheriff and still works under the umbrella of the same leader tells me "You can't attack civilians or I'm leaving!" and prevents me from doing so. This is obvious BS as it makes no logical sense based on the circumstance. Well, I got back to base and leave him behind, now 1 person down with my 4 custom characters and another companion. This time I am luckily able to take the first shot after getting set up and because I am able to take out a few of the enemies turn 1 I can survive their onslaught and am able to win despite being down a member. However, after the fight the OTHER companion says "You sick bastards attacked an innocent unprovoked, I'm leaving!".

This guy who let the raiders into town... is directly responsible for the death of this character's entire family and the only reason she's traveling with us! It's really a terrible oversight for narrative purposes to not have some kind of flag that sets this guy as killable without watching a dumb cut-scene of him pulling out out his guns and getting the first strike even if you straight up choose the option to attack instead of trying to arrest him. So I just had to reload an earlier save and now I'm gonna have to go leave this companion back at the base too and do it with only my 4 custom characters. I swear, if I do it again and like somebody tries to arrest me or something I'm not gonna be happy.

I remember just arresting the night club owner because I had proof he was guilty. Gave him to the Sheriff and got a lot of favor with them for doing it and didn't have to fight anyone in the club.

I've started playing Wasteland 3
My condolences. I was a big supporter of wasteland 2 and loved it to bits (despite its shortcomings, but given the budget and scope it was understandable) and found wasteland 3 a downgrade in every single aspect possible. How is this game sitting at a "very positive" rating on Steam is a mystery to me.

I'm a bit late to the Risk of Rain 2 DLC SotS, but judging from the reviews holy shit it's bad. Not to mention that even if you don't own the DLC you're still getting shafted as the update messed with the base game enough to ruin it for a lot of people. It says a lot that the second highest downloaded mod pack on the Thunderstorm with 102071 downloads is a mod pack solely made to fix the issues with SotS. The other largest mod packs are mods that add a shit load of content to the game and have been around for far longer, so it really says a lot to how awful this DLC and update was.

Yeah I tried to get into it, I just couldn't. I didn't think it was completely awful per say but it certainly wasn't good. It had its moments basically, not many though, especially with the fucking writing my God. The intro was where the game peaked for me, all downhill from there. It's "very positive" because it's a good entry for normies into the CRPG genre at the time, not the mention the reddit humor and other normie appealing things in the game. I talked about it in another thread I believe. You see the gaming history of the people who disliked WL3 vs people who liked it and you'll very soon realize what the audience for that game is comprised of.

Ok, I have to shill Nuclear option here (Steam Link) because I feel like its worth more than $18. It's a combat flight simulator with muliplayer pvp and co-op set in the near future. It's main gimmick is that every air vehicle has a very detailed damage model. Parts that are hit if they don't break off immediately will enter a damaged state where they won't be able to handle as much g-force as they would usually. This means you can get hit by a missile, survive but eventually break apart because a part of your wing was really fucked up and you turned too hard. The other gimmick is obviously nuclear weapons. For $18 the value is amazing, I bought it on release and have been coming back to it consistently.

They have a bunch of game modes but by far the best is escalation. It works in multiplayer or singleplayer, you pick a side either the Bascali Defense force or Primerva air force. At first unless you've modified the mission you start with a little tiny propeller CAS plane then by killing stuff and doing objectives you work your way up to larger aircraft. On either side there will be AI ground, air, and sea vehicles doing their own thing that you can defend or attack. As the war gets more intense eventually nuclear weapons will be authorized and youll pretty quickly see players dropping them across the map, game ends when one side looses all their spawn points. They also recently added an economy system so you have to defend factories from being hit too.

They got other neat features like being able to shoot down missiles and bombs, so if a nuke is heading towards your base you got a chance to defend it. Controls are pretty easy I would compare it to like warthunder in terms of how hard it is to figure out.

For $18 you get.
  • Fully custom near future models for everything.
  • OST with a theme for every aircraft (And it's got some bangers, the sax hits hards on the revoker)
  • Mission editor
  • Early access but fully functional.
  • A new aircraft usually with new mechanics each update
  • 7 Aircraft as of today
  • Customizable loadouts for every aircraft with a shit ton of weapon options
  • It's pretty stable I have yet to run into a major bug since the free pre-release demo.
Dev is pretty active on a discord too, looks like they are currently working on a VTOL c130 with gunship variant and the ability to drop vehicles. Pretty excited to see that.

10/10 buy it now.

Unfortunately the only plane games I've been able to play have been the Ace Combat franchise using the casual controls. Anything where I have to manage pitch, yaw and roll are just too much for me. Looks neat though, I like the idea of NPCs fighting alongside you in multiplayer games.

In the original Wasteland (from the 1980s) there was a point where you encountered a rabid dog and if you happened to visit the town where the dog's owner was, a kid would follow you for a while ("A youth you recognize stands up. 'You killed my dog, you dirty Rangers!') and potentially attack you, so a lot of players ended up killing him too.

Realistically, in Ace Combat games at least, you only need to manage pitch and roll and occasional deceleration for better pitching angle. Yaw is there because it is part of the movement axis but not as important as the former two.

It has mouse controls major difference is the effects of speed are a lot more noticeable than ace combat.

For me it's Roguelike. Game looks fun but nope, hope RNG doesn't fuck you over and waste a good part of an hour, even finishing a run doesn't matter anymore because you fucking know it's going to pull some bullshit time loop so actually you need to do multiple successful runs/counter intuitive actions to reach an ending.

It is in the last mission in AC5 where you fly through a narrow tunnel.

Yeah but that is exactly why I said it is not as important, as it is only ever useful in tunnel diving. Even in Zero during the V2 tunnel I can just roll and pitch around without ever yaw once.
