Are videogames for children?

I think I never had any faith in Microsoft game console since its inception. It's all about making generic dude bro shooters from the start and they want to fix the toxicity? Trash talking in FPS is natural thing. They are so clueless about gaming culture, no wonder they failed in Japan.
To be fair to Microsoft back in the Xbox hueg and 360 days they did spend the time trying to publish games outside of the military/sci-fi shooter or racing genres, Microsofts real flaw was expecting every game to sell Halo numbers

I've got some time to kill, and the house to myself for a few days. Someone sell me on the PS4 version of Kingdom Come - I thought of playing the witcher again, but never touched KD.

OT - None of the games in the OP poll are ones that interest me, but I remember playing Zork, so my tastes might be... unconventional.
Zork was proof you didn't need graphics for a good game. I miss those games, even if you can probably warez/abandonware them.

Has anyone played the new Leisure Suit Larry? How is it?

(Also, why is LSL the only Sierra series that still gets games?)
I've heard they're pretty much shit, and they have been ever since Al Lowe stopped working for Sierra.

KC is really charming and immersive, but can be frustrating at times. Despite the production value, it still has some of that Eurostank on it, which I love (STALKER is one of my favorites), but those less tolerant of visual glitches might be annoyed. The AI can also be annoying.

It's sort of a reach, but you could think of it as an Elder Scrolls game with actual love and effort put into it, minus the fantasy. The game has a huge history compendium (since the game is based on true events and locations) and you can tell the devs had a real passion for the subject.

Combat is finicky and sometimes frustrating, but goddamn does it feel good to club some bandit faggot with a fucking mace in the head. Money also feels like an actual reward and it's always exciting to get a new chunk of change to drop on shiny new armor or a kickass sword.

All in all, it isn't perfect but I love what I've played so far (I have like 10-15 hours in it). I'd recommend it, and I can hopefully answer any questions you have.

Are any of you playing Tropico 6? Any tips for the mission "The Referendum"? I need to please 4 factions and nothing I do seems to work. It's fucking enraging and no walkthroughs or forums have any good information at all.

Been playing Nier:Automata recently, about halfway through route B, and while it's good, it's not this ZOMG AMAZING 10/10 game it's hyped up to be. It has too many problems and annoyances, and so far the story is just okay.

Also 9s > 2B. I'll take a slightly annoying but still interesting character over one with next to no character. Pascal is still the best, though.

That's honestly more on their userbase than anything. This gen alone they've had a very diverse lineup from shooters, fighting, platformers, rts, survival/zombies, metroidvania, etc.

I'm playing the 3DS version of Dragon Quest 8, modded with the music from the Japanese release and the outfits from the PS2 version. I'm at the Albert manor, met Lorenzo (who I plan on cucking), and threw every piece of pottery and all the barrels around for items.

Probably a little late to the 3DS hacking party, but I finally went through with it about a week or so ago and it's really rejuvenated my love of my 3DS.

Pretty much just sat around collecting dust these past few years, but now it's all I'm playing.

Something I have noticed about the newer Mortal Kombat games, aside from the dumb costume choices for MK 11 is the new tradition of including horror characters as DLC guest characters in every installment.

MK9 had Freddy Kruger while MKX had Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, Alien, and Predator, and the newest MK game has Spawn.

The issue is that with the Disney buyout of FOX, we probably won't be seeing any return appearances of Alien, Predator, or other FOX-owned franchises like Terminator since Disney is notoriously stingy with licensing their IP's.

However, I do have an idea for guest fighters as DLC in the next Mortal Kombat game. Maybe not as main headliners, but they could be included as part of a DLC with other Warner Brothers-owned horror characters.

I'd include Count Von Tokentakker and Evil Marie from the old 90's light gun game CarnEvil as guest fighters.

Yeah, it's obscure as fuck but it is horror-related and more importantly, CarnEvil is a Midway franchise that is now owned by Warner Brothers so there's not an issue with licensing costs or other legal hurdles.

Apparently, the same deal that allowed WB to acquire the Mortal Kombat IP also included the rights to CarnEvil and a few other Midway games from back in the 90's.

I know it will never happen, but there's nothing keeping it from happening other than the age and obscurity of CarnEvil.

On that note, I miss light gun games. Shame that Time Crisis 5 still doesn't have a console port, so it might as well be Japan-exclusive.
Why hasnt somebody tried making a lightgun game system that works on modern TVs

It will be a game fun in short blutz but becomes a real grind after 20/30 hours

It's funny that you said that.
It's a Switch that doesn't switch

Seriously, for whatever reason, you can't plug it into a TV, even though the Switch's whole TV connection thing runs entirely off of the USB-C port on the bottom. There's no way that functionality's not gonna be hacked in, and frankly, Nintendo should just add TV support to it, just to give one less reason to hack your Switch Lite.

Other than that:

-no detachable joycons
-no HD rumble
-no kickstand
-it has a proper D-pad
-5.5" screen
-smaller
-pretty colors *yawn*

It technically works with every game, but not really, because of situations like with 1-2-Switch and Mario Party where everyone has to play off of a cellphone-sized screen, and use separate joycons, and then have a way to charge those joycons because they can't attach to the Switch Lite. Labo kits probably won't work too well, either.

It's coming out in September, and there'll be a Pokemon edition of it in promotion for Sword & Shield, so I figure it's sort of geared towards a younger audience, akin to the 2DS. The original Switch's Joy-con rails are kind of fragile and really don't like being dropped, so I can see this being much better for kids. Still, no TV out at all is retarded. It's like it's against the law for Nintendo to release a platform that doesn't have one giant, bizarre oversight.

Eyyy, look what dropped on Steam

The Lite's extended battery life interests me but 30mins isn't exactly enough of a jump to justify trading in my switch. That said, I have dainty lady hands and the slight decrease in size might actually be a bit more comfy for handheld use. I haven't actually played all that much of my Switch yet because the only game I own for it until Animal Crossing comes out is Breath of the Wild. I have this problem where the main appeal of the console is the ability to play formerly non-portable games that I already own on the go, but I got most of those games dirt cheap for PC and non-exclusive Switch games are just too expensive to justify purchasing even secondhand. For fuck's sake CeX, I'm not paying £45 for a secondhand copy of Skyrim for Switch when I own it on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC twice over since they gave me the remastered edition for free.

I'm gonna play the fuck out of the new Animal Crossing but the Switch is a console for me that's probably going to see the most use when it becomes old and irrelevant and the third party games become dirt cheap secondhand or when piracy without any danger of being b& becomes a thing, whichever comes first.

I'm not sure how it would work, arcade games that moved from CRTs used a matrix of infrared lights behind the (flat)screen that the light gun picked up, a very bespoke solution. The closest thing to that was the Wii using the sensor bar but the accuracy was not good.
