Warhammer: 40,000 - Rogue Trader - CRPG by Owlcat games

Just finished it. Act 5 plays as rushed as expected. 4 systems with space combat and some necron tombs scattered inbetween act felt rushed as hell
Agreed. Barely anything happens. I cared so little that when wolf boy was like "I need to go find my pack" literally right before the final planet I just told him whatever, good luck with that.

They're really expecting me to care about side shit that late into the game?

Final boss went like a little bitch from two arch-militants. Adepta sororitas and Adeptus Astartes. She with a bolter, he is a devastator. Both have abilities doubling shots fired with bursts. Plus, Cassia as officer giving extra turn to them. It was absolutely broken and I loved every minute of it

Is there an astartes HB variant?

Arch found that discussion too.

So I finished Act Two. Have had a lot of fun. I got a little bit into Act Three because I'm really enjoying the combat in this and want more and to see what my levelled up characters can do. But the opening events of Act Three are... not fun. And I can already get the feel of how the game just isn't really finished.

The thing is, Owlcat might fix the outright bugs but I'm guessing the chance of them actually filling in the content they originally planned is low. Which is a real shame.

Also, the voice acting for the Dark Eldar with all the vowels seems to have suddenly stopped. When I met him in Act Two his dialogues was voiced. When he's reappeared in Act Three (I'm only at the start of Act Three so don't know if we see him again), his lines aren't voiced. Which is a shame because the VA for him was exceptional.

I'm not getting my hopes up for any restored or expanded content in future updates. People begged them to do in their last two games and they never did. The Enhanced Edition for Wrath of the Righteous in particular was a shit show because they teased expanded content for the later chapters but never delivered (instead what we did get was... a photo mode).

At best, the upcoming expansions might restore some cut plotlines. One in particular is meant to focus on Theodora's legacy, which the game already clearly sets up but never really follows through on.

Honestly just play through it all. It's not worth stressing over if you're playing the "ideal" version or something. It's fine enough as it is to finish once. And who knows, months-year later they actually flesh it out and stuff? A 2nd playthrough won't hurt.

Yeah. It might be somewhat worth waiting to pick it up again four months down the line for the sake of fixed bugs but it's really what I'm hearing about dangling plot threads and obvious missing storylines that is putting me off. I've already seen smaller cases of that in Chapters One and Two. But if that's not going to be fixed ever, the bugs are not enough to dissuade me from carrying on by themselves. It's a real shame, though. This game has started off really strong. I particularly like how rich the talents and archetypes are.

Yeah, I guess I'll do this and just try to reign in my expectations. It's such a shame, though.

Slowly making my way through in my spare time.

I am really impressed with the story writing, as its actually convinced my rogue trader to consider the "humanity" in the perfidious Xenos of the Asyruani. My rogue trader sadly decided to engage with Yriliet, and as consequence decided there was morality to be found in her alien philosophy. At least until betrayal anyway.

Making my way through Commoragh, and, I still can't bring myself to condemn the Aeldari or Yriliet. How do I justify this position? Simple. I am better then these scum.

The false Commissar was immediately executed, while Malice was forced to fight (and die) in the Arena{/spoiler]

Of all my companions I am most disappointed in
Abelard, who literally caved

So I wonder. Can I convert a craftworld Aeldari to the worship of the God Emperor? This had better be an option. Otherwise I will hand this Xenos bitch over the inquisition once I get out of this fucking murder elf city and don't have to rely on her anymore.

I get why, narrative wise, the Rogue Trader is forced to spend an entire chapter as a literal "accident that failed to die" in the Drukhari domain, but fuck me if it's a chore. I rate this level in the same pantheon as the water temple from Ocarina of Time, and as the god emperor is my witness someone is going to die horribly for it. Either Yriliet, Abelard, or the potential Dark Eldar companion. Probably him.

Yeah it is really hard to justify having a rabid DE around your ship. The eldar you can say "ok this is your fault, 500 years of serving me will pay you back" if you are being a super nice person.

Guess he is good for a heretic playthrough?

Kinda wish she could use DE equipment.

Im trying to imagine situation where engaging with DE in anything but a firefight will be considered non-heretical and I come up short. The literally live off the pain, it says right on the tin.

Inquisition certified explosive collar if you are really radical, but even then most DE would rather eat their own wrists off than put up with that...

Cooperating with the DE up until you get out of that hell hole and immediately throwing his ass to the inquisition was so satisfying.

The DLC expands upon a lot of local stuff, but it's a little disappointing. The DLC page on the PS5 store says the 1st one allows you to explore the ship and get a death cultist and the second one gives more content to the local affairs of the planetary governments. For example you get the option to decide how much tithe goes back to the empire and the conflict that happens if you tell them to eat shit on some or all of the demands. That one looks a lot more interesting and gives you an adeptus arbites (judge dredd).

They do say the DLC will expand and effect the main story. I was just hoping for some crazier shit like Fighting/negotiating with the orks and Tau and having more alien companions.

Tau are unlikely, the Koronus expanse is far far away from Tau Turf. In fact it is on the opposite side of the galaxy. Tsu are in the lower right, Koronus upper left part of the map.
