Warhammer: 40,000 - Rogue Trader - CRPG by Owlcat games

That's probably a decision from GW to be fair. Seeing as how they have been very hands-on about what can and can't go in video games, especially the big ones.
Is it still a conspiracy theory that GW demanded they keep Yrliet as a colossal retard you can't fuck, and Argenta as a mild retard you can't fuck?

Oh boy I can't wait for more DLC about the Imperium and the Imperial Creed and Imperial taxes and law and more loyal Imperial Human companions for every DLC until the end of time in this ROGUE TRADER game, hell yeah.
As bored as I am of endless Imperium wankery, Rogue Trader at least does something else than Space Marines. I just wish we got proper Iconoclast companion that aligns with views Iconoclast von Valancius can express.

That, or at least an ability to "corrupt" your party in your direction. I went Iconoclast (and later leaning Dogmatic when needed) and recently had an event where I was called to the bridge and (despite me thinking it was another chaos uprising) they just praised the shit out of me for being such a decent fella and said that people were lining up to join me and my dynasty. You'd think at least a few of the companions, particularly Argenta, might see some value in kindness in the grimdark future and thus start to support you and your choices more.

Lex Imperialis Expansion - Meet the Familiars!

Lord Captains!

The Lex Imperialis expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is just around the corner, and today, we begin our reveals with its biggest and most exciting feature:

The Familiars!

From the hints we dropped in our latest AMA, and with the expansion revolving around the Adeptus Arbites, many of you have already figured out that the good boy is on his way.

What most of you probably didn't expect is that there is not one but FOUR creatures that may now accompany your Rogue Trader, thanks to the brand new second-tier Overseer archetype!

Abelard, introduce:

1) The Cyber-Mastiff

Often seen accompanying Rogue Traders with the Arbites origin, these mechanized canine predators provide martial support during both combat and exploration, protecting their master with utmost ferocity. Notably, Solomorne Anthar, the new companion hailing from the ranks of the Adeptus Arbites, also employs one of these fearless beasts.

2) The Psyber-Raven

Available to Psykers, these specially bred avian creatures channel and amplify their master's psychic abilities, increasing their range, damage and number of possible targets, as well as providing additional effects.

3) The Servoskull Swarm

A useful tool often employed by imperial Officers and Operatives, these constellations of hovering servo-skulls provide surveillance, relay their master's abilities across the battlefield, and excel at harassing the enemy.

4) The Cyber-Eagle

Valued by imperial Officers and Operatives for their speed and agility, these cybernetic aerial predators soar high above the battlefield, diving on command to blind and maim their master's enemies. They may also serve as the perfect distraction, sowing confusion among enemy ranks, and even potentially causing friendly fire.

Are you ready to unleash your new potential?

Stay tuned — we'll be sharing more about the new Overseer archetype, the new Arbites origin, and other info about the Lex Imperialis expansion soon!

Picked this up on a recent sale, guess might as well wait for the DLC before starting a playthrough.

apparently the new companion in the DLC, Solomorne Anthar:

Meanwhile in a parallel universe: "How can they make a game called Rogue Trader and not have any ship combat? It's literally what Rogue Trader's do. They put all this time and effort in and they couldn't even put in a basic type of ship combat!"

Not directed at you particularly. Just an observation that ironically, those who write the games can never win.
I need to figure out a way to backport the ship combat from the vidya to the tabletop, because I run Rogue Trader and the ship rules in that suck a big fat dripping genestealer ovipositor.

Do they still make Battlefleet Gothic the table top game? Could integrate that. Or if you want to do more work but have an outstanding base for your system, Star Wars Armada from FFG was the best table top ship combat system ever devised. But the problem with anything designed for ship combat first is that it's going to approach ships as being disposable because it's designed for successive games where the base unit is a ship. Whereas in the RPG you probably have a single ship for the campaign and if it blows up, that's a TPK.

The player's inexperience is also likely to make a larger difference. If the party is in a gun fight the opportunity for catastrophic errors in strategy is low. Maybe you should have run into cover, maybe you should shoot this instead of that. But in a ship battle you make a poor decision and now the enemy is behind you, they have their lances on you and you have nothing to shoot back at them with. And getting out of that could be very difficult. I'd make sure to build in rules for emergency warp jumping and repelling boarders that give a good fighting chance of rectifying bad piloting, even if costly.

It shouldn't necessarily be that hard to port in the rules from this game though as a start. Even the manoeuvring is done on a grid with defined turn angles. Could codify what you observe on screen into a ruleset easily enough.

A big part of that though is the way they move. And that can't be depicted in static artwork. Imagine even a normal person with normal proportions, but he never blinks, never twitches.
Sounds a little bit like the vampire hominids from that one Peter Watts novel. Which isn't inappropriate considering the Dark Elder are kinda like vampire elves anyway.

I'm not familiar with the meme, I just saw a "DLC release" notification and it's a fucking 400MB shovel.
If it's 400 MB, it's probably the prepwork for the DLC. Maybe we'll get some new info from dataminers on what to expect from the DLC.

It's fascinating how supposedly "anti-woke" kiwifarmes love to play woke trash like this, or it's just woke reddit guys who take over the farms.
At least get it for free https://repack-games.com/warhammer-40000-rogue-trader-v1-3-2-13-p2p-free-download/
Bunch of slack-jawed faggots around here.

Alright, I'll take the bait. Your images start with Argenta, a Sister of Battle (also known as Bolter Bitches), who are trained from a young age into religious zealots wearing power armour (assisting in strength and endurance to be able to handle the recoil of the automatic grenade launchers they carry into battle) to take the fight to the enemies of Mankind with bolters and flamers. Your female space marines, if you will. Second is Idira, a psyker. A magician, wielding magical powers. Doesn't need to be strong to do that. Happens to be a nigger, yeah, but is written well, nothing woke about her. (That I could see, at least.)

Third is your average noble posing for a painting, and a portrait choice for your main character. Same with the fourth one, although that's more likely a Commissar. Commissars are trained specifically to be stern and ruthless, to keep the Imperial Guardsmen under their control. The 40k universe has trillions, if not quadrillions of humans throughout it, on planets ranging from peaceful agricultural worlds to death worlds where literally everything is hostile to human life, and where all but the strongest and toughest die. Even if you were to exclude all but women from death worlds, whose genes have been refined for hundreds, if not thousands, of generations of natural eugenics, there'd be billions of them ready and able to take up weapons and fight for the Emprah. The universe has got 40,000 years of technological advancements separate from our own and magic no less, so it's fucking retarded to apply the rules of reality to that fictional world.

tl;dr go talk to real girls, faggot

I was really hoping they'd give this game some proper attention and they aren't disappointing. Instead of a polished turd, Rogue Trader is an unpolished gem.
Just started a pyro-blaster build; gonna take advantage of the 1.3 patch metas while they're available.

This was the only character I really had issue with in RT. Not that she was woke, but that she was so one-dimensional. Nigger, if you didn't have utility your Shadow The Hedgehog shenanigans would end at the airlock.

Jae was a close runner too, but it was obvious she was written to just steer into the pirate stereotype and at least she was an Iconoclast.
