>Red corsairs AND Iron Warriors before Wordbearers.
Im gonna fedpost.
For the most part I find building GW models enjoyable, but I see Kofi Drinka's point.
The way GW split some models up on the sprue for the sake of their bottom line takes the piss at times.
For example the Flesh Eater Courts Abhorrent Archregent model from AOS has its head split in two right down the middle of the face. Have fun hiding that seam.
UV resin+UV light is cheap and easy to apply for gap filling. A better example would be the plague marine on the poxwalker sprue even when they split the Dark Imperium box into their own sets.

Lmfao I came to this thread expecting a shit storm after the announcements and I wasn't disappointed.

For what its worth, we got this.

I will gladly sacrifice custodes, a range that has already had yhe lore heavily retconned *by existing as a range at all* if it means they shut down the debate now.
It's weird how hard they keep trying to avoid just outright saying "yes they were always male but we changed it"

They really don't want to admit it so they're resorting to outright gaslighting. Wasn't there a rumor this was Amazon's doing by higher ups who wanted to meet some diversity quota for the new show?

I wanna do Corsairs but I know I’d get too into it and have bits of guy’s former chapter identity on each fella, which would lead to the glacial pace, like with my EC each having an individual “fall” visible in their armor.
You like to convert and personalise your models right?

If so I can see the Corsairs becoming a bit of a quagmire, but also really satisfying when they are done. In 2028.

Word Bearers you can use as an HH army, use the new Corsair kits, lean into the Daemonic aesthetic, have more kitbashing potential and you have more lore.

Corsairs on the other hand lend themselves to converting loyalist stuff and making it more salvaged than corrupted and you’ll be getting content for the next while and that admittedly nice kit.

Yeah I'm leaning more towards WB for the extra lore. I'm also worried I won't like the Corsairs aesthetic after I get over new toy syndrome

I got to be honest, I wasn't expecting IW before WBs

Red corsairs AND Iron Warriors before Wordbearers
Well look at it this way, If the defiler rumors are true then we're getting a head for each god, that implies it's not IW specific and Defilers are still great fits for WB. More importantly obliterators//mutilators are just more daemonkin units. It would be really cool if we got a generic Saturnine Obliterator chaos lord.

The leaker said that the Iron Warriors wont be divorced from the codex till way way way later in future years from now. They've already gutted the CSM book to carve out a space for the god legions, I doubt we will see them do it even more without some kind of grace period.

I have these things and also more than one of the model (it was an accident I swear).

I'll give this a go. Cheers for the tip.

I still think splitting a model right down the face is fucking retarded though.

Here’s a quick and dirty pic but yeah, my EC are at that, “when darkness finds you, you will face it alone,” phase from Path of Heaven.

They’re still legionnaires but the rot is hitting them all differently. Left integrated his old mkiii helmet and pauldrons into his beakie armor, mid left is lost to the sauce, mid right is high as shit and right knows he’s fucked and it’s too late to worry about it.

These are great. I like that some thought about the lore went into the building and painting of them.
Right, I'll stop being gay now and just say good work .

They're hoping enough of that 8% will buy in that it'll offset the people who get pissed and quit. Of course, then they go and post that gaslighting hectoring blog post explaining that they've always existed, bigot.
Reality Check:
The reaction from the Custodes community (and greater 40k community) is more than 99 percent positive and this is already going to sell out and make massive amounts of money like every GW release always does.

Now ive had a chance to think, my take on the reveals.

Eldar
The Corsair box is tempting since its either all new models or the Corsairs previously in Killteam. Impressed. I think its a real winner. The Temu Swooping Hawks are a little...eh but i mean, thdyre being compared to Swooping Hawks.

Corsairs
Not a Corsairs guy so wont comment on them beyond its good they are expanding what it means to be CSM. Let the undivided legions also get expanded upon.

Custodes
Custodes in plastic? Great. Im annoyed my models got a very nice upgrade (bigger, more detail) but the tanks and dreads in plastic really open up that part of the army. GW really need to be clear and firm on 30k vs 40k vs both models and not change their mind.

Other
Drukhari sub has a rumoured new box posted. Super sceptical on the fonts and its a little TOO good. But if true, 2x old combat patrol, 2x new and 2x whatever that battalion box is would legit give you everything except characters. If thats the case im super excited for the bdsm elves.

Honestly same, this whole 30k/40k apartheid shit drives me up the wall. Was alot cooler when everything from forgeworld and 30k had a useable place in 40k. Like 30k has a fucking Arvus Lighter model in plastic now but you can't use it in 40k even though Arvus Lighters have been in 40k for ages. I have a bunch of heresy era stuff for my 40k World Eaters that is just not usable.

I use really fine/tiny rocks from my driveway. I'm a cheapskate.
just make sure to either buy it or bake the stuff you find (germs).
I was told to use sand. I live by a beach and was going to grab a scoop full of sand, and everyone I told of this plan paniced and said to never do that. Buy from a model shop.

Eventually I bought old style flock. £2 for a huge bag from some model railway place.

I don't give a drop of piss in an ocean of piss about female Custodes, but I still have to ask; what was wrong with the Sisters of Silence? That's pretty damn good representation of female badasses literally by the Emporer's side.

Kind of like how I didn't care about the whole culture war sperging about female Astartes. I didn't see the point. The Soriatas are far more interesting as a faction anyway.
Because popularity/mary sue. Sisters aren't the poster boys of the setting, and these people are tourists.

There's more to it than that, but that's the answer you're looking for.

Unrelated. I might be showing my autism, but I've run into a strange social ...problem?

It goes like this.
I say I want to get into Spearhead
Friend buys himself Spearhead starter box.
I say I'll buy Seraphon spearhead instead.
Friend buys Seraphon himself.
I say I'm considering a Sisters Combat Patrol.
Friend buys a bunch of Stormcast to kitbash a Sisters Combat Patrol.
I buy Gloomhaven.
He buys Aliens The Board Game.

I don't understand this behaviour. I'm not even sure if it's a problem as it saves me money as I can just use his armies when we play, but it's also annoying for reasons I can't fully articulate. Supposedly this is him "just trying to boss", but I misplaced my zoomer language codex so I don't know what that means.

Dumb question 2. How does doubles work? Saw a doubles game at a lgs and it made no sense since it was Skaven v Stormcast. Doubles wasn't really a thing back in my day. I assumed it would 2v2, but these were two people sharing the same army?

Custodes does attract a specific type of player. The same kind that would have played GK when they're were the giga elite badass most powerful wank faction on both the table and lore
Last year they were the 2nd highest win rate but this is a Horus Heresy box so unless GW says you can use them for 40K I don’t think they’ll be that much of a hit especially when Femstodes first dropped with the new codex and combat patrol (which didn’t sell out quickly at a time bots were going wild). Although that probably may have been to the rules change which saw them drop from their high win rate at that time as well iirc.

Anyway I’m just waiting for those raptor Night Lords KT to come out. Probably my first post Nightmare box pre Femstodes purchase from GW since. Yes I’m a sucker for that.

Eh, codices and combat patrols don't tend to sell out unless the deal is truly insane, what sells out immediately from bots are boxes with new releases like this one, even the Deldar battleforce sold out almost immediately just because a single new archon model was put into it. I expect this and everything that is confirmed usable in 40k(vehicles) bought out and scalped on ebay within the same day it all goes up
