Salvation might happen soon, but not now.I am fully aware that WHF was in a bad place.
But they could have nuked the rules and kept the lore. I heard AoS is good for rules.

It's amazing how they seem to go through these cycles of not being able to write coherent rules. After 8th edition they realised they'd forgotten a bunch of "too obvious to mention" rules and had to put out an early FAQ, then with 9th they made sure all that stuff was in the rule book on day one, and now in 10th they've gone back to basics and already have an 18-page FAQ for a game that's not even out yet. Including some of the exact same rules they forgot to put in 8th.The new ork rules have some of the lowest quality control in display, who wrote this? How come meganobz don't have the mega armor keyword? How come the mek boy workshop can make your entire army impossible to charge?? How come Ghazghkull is infantry and can fit into trukks??
@Ben Kenobi is right though. They capitalized 0 on it. Release a fucking "iconic legends" line where you have 2 heroes pitted against each other like one of those faggy vs ganes that are all the rage or a hero with a 10 model escort. Shit out whatever piece of shit skirmish rules you want since gamers will just want the models and GW fanboys will play it even if the rules requiren breaking your hand with a hammer. Malekith has had a shit model since the start of time and Tyrion would appreciate a make over.People werent buying fantasy and the video games came out as it was dying/dead. Fantasy in its 8th edition form was a hard game to just pick up even compared to 40k at the time. Its easier for people to put their money where their mouth is for 20 dollar dlcs for a total war game then it is for a $1000 for a real full fledged fantasy 8th edition army. Age of Sigmar also does really well. Does that mean GW killed off the game with grace and skill? No. But at the end of the day for the position they were in it was probably the correct decision. They are bringing back the old world, maybe they through you a bone my dwarven friend.
AoS is good for rules for GW standards, which is not very.I am fully aware that WHF was in a bad place.

None of this would make any more money then just making more warcry teams. They capitalized 0 on it. That Old World is still vaporware after wasting all 3 release windows of the total war games shows they are unable to capitalize on anything related to classic warhammer. Also notice how they have never mentioned Kislev or Cathai again after dropping some heavy hints about them years ago.
Hard disagree. There is a good chunk of market that know what a Karl Franz is and not a "warcry", they don't give a shit about a "warcry". They just want a few models for collection purposes of all those neat characters they've been using in total war.None of this would make any more money then just making more warcry teams.
If they even knew what a warcry even is, then they would've actually been writers.Hard disagree. Might just be me being retarded, but I've read this phrase a few times and I still honest to god don't know what you mean. Mind rephrasing that?If they even knew what a warcry even is, then they would've actually been writers.
On more 40K related topics, I do find it funny that the usual "PRO 40k PLAYER" streamers and sites have stopped jacking off GW furiously due to the corporate mandated hype cycle and are starting to scream bloody murder in some places (https://www.goonhammer.com/goonhammer-unhinged-an-adeptus-mechanicus-rant/). I know to my dismay that GW will rebound from this again since they could put a shit between binders and most of the player base would still purchase it but I always love a good saltfest.

You don't even have to go into schizo theory, this is far from new from GW. Model company first and all that. Their rules department has always been ass and probably has horrible retention power, so nobody stays there to remember any of the lessons learned from prior editions. But since it's the biggest brand around in the standard 40k only player is the equivalent of the fusion of a buck broken plantation nigger and an abused housewife, they come back crawling even when they declare "enough is enough" when a small whiff of competence creeps out.My schizotheory is the non-marine indexes were written at last minute so people won't have to use 9th edition rules and GW can earn brownie points with plebbitors over free rules.

They probably saw the lore as baggage that few people cared about and wanted to replace Fantasy with something bigger and flashier in the hopes of hooking 40k players.I am fully aware that WHF was in a bad place.

TWWH2 was my introduction to warhammer. It made me want to get into the tabletop and I even wanted to play Skaven. After a week of looking for people to play with, I gave up and switched to 40k.I think the biggest missed opportunity in regard to GW and Total War is that they completely failed to capitalize on the popularity of Skaven from TWWH2 (and Vermintide). Skaven are still stuck with their WHFB range in AoS, even Lizardmen getting a refresh first. And then Skaven are explicitly NOT going to be in The Old World.
That's why they have to deal with OceanGate.Chaos thunderhawks got rules, but regular marines do not.
Downloaded the 10E points index. Christ on a cross, they need to trim the fuck out of the Space Marines. I don't care if they're the most popular army, two pages just listing points is retarded bloatChaos thunderhawks got rules, but regular marines do not.
They are Hunter laptoping the longest standing aircraft.
But hey , you need different rules for primaris captain variant a,b,c,d....
