Eldar are technically forced into chaos.

Humans have to muk about with chaos artifacts or touch something chaos related. But other than that, they are usually fine. The Emperor sort implies that he can cure chaos corruption, but if he could do that then the Horus Heresy shouldn't have been so bad.

Eldar were screwed until Ynnead came along because their empire (Eldar Dominion) had the entire reincarnation cycle eaten by Slannesh. Since the gods who were regulating the cycle were absorbed/eaten whatever by Slannesh.

I highly recommend the Dark Eldar Trilogy by Andy Chambers. Fantastic look into Eldar and great series overall.

The final Fabius book for all it’s many faults, Lucius: The Faultless Blade and the second book in the Word Bearers trilogy are also good showings for the Dark Eldar, showing how simultaneously cocky they are when they believe they have the upper hand and how utterly terrified they are of their creation and it’s desire to collect them.

It’s also smart of the writers to have the chaos chads go against even worse foes. Plus you have Lucius saying “xeno whore” and laughing his ass off as he humiliates them on their home turf.

He also unintentionally causes the biggest loss of Eldar life since the Fall.

Lucius is a fun villain, people hyperfocus on his curse and think they can gotcha Slaanesh as if the god of excess wont just ignore any attempt to impose hard rules.

Unrelated, got a refund from Black Library of the e-book ive bought, how tf in 2025 a support email is so trash they think an IP adress is an offense, and basically force you to start the process again? The support offered to try fix on my end, but gonna be honest, if I cant even read the books ive bought, why keep using the site? Gonna just delete my account on it.

At this point we should just make a tabletop games thread for the trench crusade autism. Also isn't Aktion 47 or whatnot already WW2 with magic?

What book had Lucius go to Commoragh? Sounds like a fun one.

On Lucius, I really like of how a daemon explains why she likes him in Faultless Blade, which really represent his character

‘Because of you,’ she replied, with the smile that always reached her golden eyes. ‘You, Lucius. You fall, you rise, you continue on, refusing to believe your failures until once more they strike you down. You return, slowly diminishing, but unwilling to stop, unwilling to succumb. You are your race, Lucius. You are humanity, and as with the rest of your kind, I delight in your dance, all the way to its end.’

All the Ian St Martin stufff for Lucius is gold and some of my favourite 40k fiction, Faultless Blade, In Wolves Clothing, Pride and Fall and Embrace of Pain have the same great cast, he’s consistently written and he’s hilarious. I don’t know much about Martin but he’s really good at writing Lucius and it’s a shame we don’t have more of this stuff.

It also helps that Lucius knows cheat codes are on for him and while he doesn’t care about dying, there is less and less coming back with him each time. So he might get a kick out of his warband hating him and being unable to do anything about it, privately he knows that there’s a problem brewing.

His post-resurrection rituals are pretty funny too, check for the sword, whip, break in new body and say hi to the new guy on the armor.

This is his reaction to anything that crosses his path and compared to the melodrama of say, Ahriman (wayyyyyyyy too many books for a boring character), the wangst of the Night Lords or even the inner turmoil of his brother Fabius, it’s such a simple joy to have a Traitor character who loves what he does and is never gonna stop doing it cause it feels like heaven each time.

Edit: Forgot to mention, he makes secondaries seethe and inspired a wave of copycat characters in the HH novels and they all suck dick by virtue of the “perfect swordsman” schtick being done by the most boring and edgy-wank characters with none of the Eternal’s charm, Sigismund, the ultimate boring 40k character. “OH MY GOD HE ALMOST BEAT ABADDON!”

Im neutral on Sigismund, but I found really funny a post where the guy was arguying that if GW would kill Abaddon, they should make Helbretch being possessed by Sigismund and easily beat Abaddon, please ignore that the same Abaddon was more than a match to Celestine, and in general should be way stronger than any Living Saint.

Really, if Abaddon was to die, he should get his objective done, only for Drachnyen to eat him. Hes now the Emperor of Chaos by all rights, no more reason for the End of Empires to obey him. His plans for a dark empire for space marine supremacy would burn down because he thinks he can control chaos.

The Ork gods are largely much like the Orks themselves in that if enough Orks believe it to be true it is, which is why Orks can pull all kinds of funny beliefs like certain paint schemes do certain things. It works because Orks believe it to work.
Its more limited than people think. In general, its basically a reality grease. In Engine of Mork, a Mek boy and 3 of his helpers make a Gargant out of a battlewagon engine. Thats the Waagh field doing, but the science behind it is solid, he explains its plasma being fed by tractor beams with a magnetic field to stop it from cooling.

I just don’t like the wanked author’s pets, I prefer when a guy gets an assignment and goes above and beyond (Helsreach, Lucius, the recent Eidolon novel) as opposed to John French (faggot) and Dan Abnett-Filoni’s persistent use of the “their characters” and building their really faggy interconnected sub-universe, French less so but he’s the reason the Fists have 20+ named characters in HH and my Salamander friend doesn’t have shit.

Abnett on the other hand is unforgivable, using the HH finale to set up his stuff (MUH YELLOW KING) and not have a small thing like the Emperor getting interned be in the fucking book.

Sigismund is the poster child for this, ABD, French and Abnett wanked this really boring “too edgy 4 me” guy who the text calls “wrath made flesh” which is standard 40k description but not during the Siege of Terra where everyone is wrath made flesh. It’s just gay, like we have numerous pages of Keeler marvelling at Sigismund being a badass motherfucka and killing Kharn and being everywhere, meanwhile we’re just gonna ignore the immediate aftermath stuff we’d all like to see (Roboute glassing Mars, Emps getting installed in the toliet, the meeting of the Primarchs afterwards) but no, what was JOHN GRAMATICUS DOING?

Abaddon in denial about being as much of a puppet as his dad was is never not funny, the man is living on several bombs, is wielding one and genuinely doesn’t think they’ll go off. At least Horus acknowledged time was running out and planned to drink from the warp to kill everyone to save himself.

Abaddon denial is specially funny since The End 3 shows that he bought when Erebus basically said "Ok, we need to work twice as hard to get the blessings of Chaos". At that point the Gods had fully retreated. All daemons were banished, all blesings removed, there was nothing stopping them from running off and becoming renegade. Instead, they go with Erebus.

And now his best friend is a Daemon who dont lie, he knows well hes doing the business for Vashtorr and still think hes free of Chaos

You do realize they aren't done, right? GW can easily get another half dozen books or more out of the initial scouring alone.

HH was basically Abnett’s Star Wars prequels moment. He should’ve been restrained on so much instead of being given a free hand and the fact EatD dragged along in so many places was a sign of that. It was somehow the reverse of the first 3 books where they rushed Horus into being corrupted by chaos with a chaos knife and a few side lines.

Edit:

Reddit is having a normal one with Trump as president

No fucking shit, I’m saying the final hour of the Siege should’ve been in the Siege of Terra boon instead of wasting time with characters nobody and I mean nobody gives a baker’s fuck about.

I love the smell of retards crying. The opposite side of things was going

“40k yeah!” With the Mars part of the speech.

Do people forget Trump was already president? What they expect, that he will do things he didnt done on the first presidency, end democracy and shit?

I swear these guys just all used the neuralizer from Men in Black and forgot 2016, cause only way I can explain them doing this shit again.

Trump made Space Marines when?

They're the same people who assumed in 2016 that Trump was going to have his private security from his properties, roaming around the countryside and gunning down trannies in the street so they all needed to(and of course didn't) flee to Canada. If they were that delusional then, of course they're just as retarded now. Expect this shit to pop up in tabletop gaming, video games, movies, tv, social media, etc. for at least another couple of years.

The rest of us will move the fuck on with our lives as we aren't miserable 24/7. Hell, I fully expect yet another tabletop mini game somehow "free of the chuds" to pop up and die like a fart in the wind over the next couple of years once trench crusade eventually gets forgotten about, and GW still continues to dominate the market because no one is willing to actually compete with them.

Back on topic https://www.warhammer-community.com...enix-lord-leaping-into-the-new-codex-aeldari/

I guess they're going with the warp spiders phoenix lord having been hinted at previously in one of the psychic awakening books for lore? I suspect if we do get a book for this character, there's a 50/50 chance it'll be awful.

Its a shame that pretty much only Gav got interest in writing full eldar novels. JC Stearns, who wrote great eldar short stories, talked on how he would do the Ynnari, focusing on their "fuck the prophecy" aspect, they cant get the last crone sword? No need to go and brainstorm how to invade Slaanesh's Palace, they would look for alternatives, they already created Ynnead by fucking the prophecy, lets do it again.

Besides him, I guess Guy Haley does great eldar?

All I know is Gav Thorpe wrote books about a freaking imperial guard detachment invading, of all craftworlds, Alaitoc. The "obsessed with networked information and scouting" craftworld.
