Is GW really just going to keep copy pasting these BL/video game characters in bland stock MkX like we should be excited? Could just have headswapped an intercessor. At least Titus is a character people actually like and they gave him a cloak to slightly hide his blandness.View attachment 8186339View attachment 8186340
Actual nepo-baby marines, just then I couldn’t hate Primaris more.
Not even that, just as a BL character release, it’s shit. I mean do too were Fafnir and Zephon but at least they’re good kitbash fodder and were teases of things to come at the time.Is GW really just going to keep copy pasting these BL/video game characters in bland stock MkX like we should be excited? It almost feels like we're getting 8e primaris releases again after they're finally getting better at customizing them with BT, SW etc(let's ignore the Blood Angels).
I wish they had hired Claudia Black to voice the character.
Nepotism. Her boyfriend was the voice actor in the previous game.
He doesn't try to be, he's a post-heresy marine made by a warband that was struggling to survive.but don't tell me ANY amount of sci-fi surgery can make this motherfucker look like Alpharius lmao
I sort of get it, at least from the business side. The injection molds for plastic are far and away the most expensive cost for GW in terms of miniature manufacturing for any single product. Making one can cost GW thousands to tens of thousands of dollars (I believe it’s closer to the thousand(s) side now, but don’t quote me on that). Comparatively, the plastic for the models can quite literally cost pennies. Is GW really just going to keep copy pasting these BL/video game characters in bland stock MkX like we should be excited? Im not, but Ill speculate that its much easier to design, approve, then create an injection mold for a single character, especially not a brand new single character, than it is for a unit of 5-10 models. A character can be only a single sprue an eigth of the size of a unit of miniatures. It would then be much quicker for the sculpters to actually produce, compared to 5-10 miniatures that need to be unique but cohesive, as well as handling cutting up the model to work with injection molded plastic.. If someone more plugged into the industry could elucidate me on that I’d greatly appreciate it.
And you can mold multiple smaller sprues at a time. But that being said, you're going to sell a hell of a lot fewer named characters than you are troops, elite troops, vehicles, etc. even for space marine characters. Some factions are basically subsidized by space marine intercessor sales with those molds maybe never recouping their costs in any reasonable amount of time.Im not, but Ill speculate that its much easier to design, approve, then create an injection mold for a single character, especially not a brand new single character, than it is for a unit of 5-10 models. True, but consider people get into armies through characters all the time. How many people got into any of the cult legions through the demon primarchs, or dark angels/ultramarines through their primarchs. Im sure the new Titus sculpt (which is fucking beautiful) is going to drag more people into Ultramarines. The Captain with Relic shield isnt named, but it is a gorgeous model you'll only run 1 of. Calgar is another example. The door is then opened to buying multiple 60+ dollar kits beyond that, or combat patrols, or other boxes. Personally, I got into Blood Angels first through lore (vampires are cool) but Dante hooked me as a character. Same with Argel Tal and Wordbearers. When Orikan and Trazyn have models Im buying both, and I bought that one necron overlord thats basically Oltyx because of TDK.And you can mold multiple smaller sprues at a time. Sure but that's still 1 unique character you'll never have a reason to buy multiples of. Obviously they can sell people into buying a faction, but at the end of the day they're not intercessors that are a perpetual money printing marine even though some people have enough of them bought with other shit they could make an entire space marine army if they bothered to assemble and paint them.True, but consider people get into armies through characters all the time. Yes, but that alone doesn’t actually make the characters profitable, it makes them loss leaders (assuming they don’t actually recoup their cost, which frankly is anyone’s guess unless someone here is an insider).True, but consider people get into armies through characters all the time. SoC is actually such a underrated CSM novel, I actually like it a bit more that storm of iron.On a more positive note I recently finished Siege of Castellax by CL Werner. I only really knew him for his old Skaven books (excellent too) but this novel was fucking banging. True old school grimdark bolter porn. The Iron Warriors characters are such scheming, dysfunctional pieces of shit it's actually impressive and the Orks are great villains(?).

Something else Warlord related. K47 has troops and vehicles in plastic, but characters in resin. The logic being exactly what you describe.I sort of get it, at least from the business side. There's a bit more to it than that.Something else Warlord related. K47 has troops and vehicles in plastic, but characters in resin. The logic being exactly what you describe.
What I find interesting is the shills praise this move. Supposedly the hatred of resin comes mainly from GW using a shitty resin mix that warps all the time. And unlike GW, when a kit comes out in plastic it usually results in a price drop, instead of a price increase.
A ton of xenos too got no models, no Vect, no Xun'bakr, no Oltyx, no Kutlakh, no Veilwalker,Decimus, Honsou, Vorx or even ADB’s pets from the Black Legion books, anything for the “Year of Chaos.”
The over reaction is because of the retards. The horror stories of Etsy creators (and possibly some bigger companies) hollowing out stls to "save resin", people operating 3D printers from a bedsit with no ventilation, people getting uncured models in the mail, people pouring waste resin down the sink, or spilling resin on themselves/their carpet and now have a severer reaction to it. Basically treating resin, a toxic chemical, like it's play doh and then acting surprised when it causes a bunch of health problems.2022 rolls along and for whatever the fuck reason every hobby youtube channel has got some weird bug up their ass about resin dust being the worst most toxic cancer producing shit ever, over-doing it with PPE recommending VOC filters for fully cured hard resin products when a dust mask would be fine... yes you shouldn't be breathing in resin dust from sanding but you shouldn't be doing that with plastic dust either.
Then combine this with the fact that retards can't follow instructions and you get people wondering why their plastic cement doesn't work. Or why their primer is fucked and paint won't stick because they didn't wash the mold release off. The resin goes to shit because they wanted to strip paint and left it in a bucket of IPA for 3 months. etc.
Listen, this is the Alpha Legion we are talking about. Those motherfuckers could infiltrate a Sisters of Battle Order, even though I have no idea how they could accomplish that.but don't tell me ANY amount of sci-fi surgery can make this motherfucker look like Alpharius
