Warhammer 40k

Are we pretending Solomon Akurra is a new character, or are we just mad he's a nigger? I'm confused. Either way he's a boring character. I want more Deathrow.

It was never all of them, though. It was mostly the inner circle(Pech, Herzog, Ranko, Silonius, Dynat and someone else) with a smattering of others through the Legion. You're literally falling for in-universe myth :story:
His name is Solomon?!

For me it’s just mocking nigger marines in general, they stink, I don’t like them and that hair looks more retarded than Abaddon’s.

Different skin colors can make sense, that there are all modern races present on Fenris, and they all have the same culture and never mixed enough to become a homogeneous population is retarded.
And, it is only for the "generic European" factions. You won't see a "white" White Scars, even though some European groups today are descendants of the same type of central asian steppe people. A tartar or Hungarian WS would be seen as white washing.

I remember someone getting pissy in the lore subreddit because in Dead Men Walking, they use "caucasian" to refer to a woman. It is just how the text is transmitted, they are not saying "caucasian" in low gothic.

Yep, the whole "the AL were all giants, and Alpharius was a total manlet" is overblown. A few marines were giants, and Alpharius was consistently written as still being a normal size for a primarch until his novel says his power is to make people ignore him.

Am I going to have to read that fucking we wuz alphariuz n sheit book? I already read the Creed daughter novel and it wasnt nearly as bad or retarded as people said.

Fuck City of Light is hard to get through. 3 books of Mephiston somehow getting edgier and edgier is insane. The nigga flayed himself alive and used his skin as sting to puppet corpses to read their minds or some shit. Like what the fuck. Where do you even go from there.

Are you going to read the previous we wuz alpharius book? Like @Rick The Stick pointed out, this isn't a new character and was in Harrowmaster first, and was definitely black on the cover of that one.

The problem with Ashes of Cadia is that it's a whole bunch of contrived bullshit even ignoring the contrived nonsense of Ursarkar Creed setting up the bunker in the first place. There's certainly far worse Black Library books, but that doesn't make Ashes of Cadia good simply by comparison.

Fortunately Guy Haley I guess knew about Darius Hinks' books in advance and trapped Mephiston in a cave for Devastation of Baal so a story could actually happen before letting him loose like Captain Marvel in an Avengers movie... but then you're left wondering why he didn't just break out of the cave in the first fucking place.

i got a lore question, how do world eater warbands hold themselves together? there seems to be 2 camps when it come to how debilitating the nails are. Either your a mad man only living for the next fight. Or you just need mediation and focus and your good. And what of non berserker roles. I'd like some explanations and not have to make some head cannon

A good rule of thumb is if its written by mike brooks its complete non canon. Probably the worst thing to ever happen to Black Library
Could’ve sworn he also did another Alpha Legion book where the main thing was a group showing up and saying “I am NOT Alpharius” to establish a break in tradition for some dumb reason

I don't think it's outright stated why they can stay together but I'm pretty sure they operate on ork logic.

Yeah the Nails make them crazy but they still follow the strongest person. Which is why whenever Angron shows up a lot of the warbands fall in line.

The same thing probably happens with any warband. Someone in the warband is the strongest so they follow him until they can kill him etc.

They're less unified than other Chaos Space Marines though

I remember that during Unification, the old races still existed, for example that Africans still exist, and there was an African marine in Horus Rising, and the Emperor's children are supposed to be European stock.

Terra is one thing however, the colonies are another. And remember, they are already 10k years old by the time of 30k, and started out with a smaller settler stock, who of course would have mixed together. What I could believe is that some colonies were majority one race or another, so that one world is mainly European or Asian descended, others more mutted brownoids.

Big E is too old to be a good example, he was born in the neolithic era or something.
Yeah, I'm reading the Siege of Terra books right now and they make plenty of mention of the various skin tones native to certain parts of Terra.
Nah, Lion: Son of the forest is good. Not as good as Dark Imperium for modern era Primarch stuff, but still very good.
I do have a fondness for the DA, especially when they go full into the Space Knight aesthetic.

Sorry Raven Guard, but you can't get much more Raven-y than wearing a beakie armor and wielding a raven's beak hammer. I'm also just a sucker for slapping goofy wings everywhere on shit, which the DA do with reckless abandon.

Pretty sure they're the most divided of all the Traitor Legions, even worse than the Emperor's Children or Night Lords, save when Angron shows up and yells them all into line with threats of having their own blood shed for an uncaring Khorne.

Stop double posting. Also, you really think that's new considering that the drukhari were closer to how most of the eldar were prior to slaanesh?
no, fuck you. I'll shitpost all i want.

"Eldar" are Tolkien elves, "aElDaRi" is globohomo corposlop nonsense speak minted by tranny faggots at GW, which should be swallowed by a fissure in the earth for the crimes of being british, fags and excessively greedy, in that order.

Ghamak did nothing wrong.

This was brought up in a kind of mid book when Angron was coming back. Most World Eaters really just shamble around those who lead are the ones who can keep the nails at bay, they are almost like orks just shuffling from one fight to another, at most a lot of their non zerker roles are either newer recruits from after the heresy, rogue Apothecaries who maintain or install nails into new recruits, or menial slaves, the main ship for instance is fully maintained by Sarrin and her crew who think they are still human but are actually all horribly deformed demon engines stuck in the ship.

Dumb question, do you guys fully assemble a model before painting it or do you paint it in segments?

Getting ready to paint the starter set marines and it seems borderline impossible to reach some pieces like the breastplate if I leave the weapons attached.
I wouldn’t personally unless it’s a complicated model or a center piece. You might lose parts
Just an FYI Temu has faction dice (d6) for about $3. They probably don't have everything but most of the 18 legions are represented. You only get 12 in a set instead of 16 but it's still better than GW usury.

They look good it's only the camera that sucks
Ok I might sign up for that reason alone.
I came here as soon as I saw the book cover. Lmao

Are you going to read the previous we wuz alpharius book?
Maybe. I mostly read ashes of cadia because someone was saying it sucked because of (insert culture war reason here). It was fine. Not good, but not attrocious either, and the "diversity" stuff was whatever. It wasnt obnoxious unless you're a whiney fag that spergs about that kind of thing. Ashes has serious flaws with its story and plot that are bigger than any issue with the sex or race of the characters.

I noticed that happen in Devestation so I kind of thought Mephiston was a little bitch. I mean the entire Librarius was trapped along with him if I remember right, and somehow Mephiston + a bunch of psykers cant either stop or delete a bunch of rocks? The reading all the crazy shit he does in his trilogy makes it even more noticeable that he got shafted in DoB.

Unironically like Sarrin. Her character is written pretty solidly. Getting a sculpt of her jammed inside a chair would be sick. Not sure how that would work, but a nigga can hope.

She's taken "No one runs from the Conqueror" to the logical, daemonic extreme.

Specifically craftworld eldar are tolkein elves without basically becoming their equivalent of amish like the exodites. The 90% of the population that didn't survive the birthing of slaanesh were more like the dark eldar in commorragh. If the eldar weren't mostly degenerate retards, then slaanesh wouldn't have a reason to exist. Go read some basic lore idiot, this was the case before "aeldari" became the primary name for them.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was at least most of them since they were busy doing some ritual or whatever. But it was a pretty stupid excuse to bench them for 90% of the book especially since that one came out around the same time as the first book from Hinks and Mephiston hadn't been described as being that ridiculous up until that point(powerful yes, but he's cartoonishly ridiculous in the books, even in DoB).

Anything written by Mike Brook should be ignore.
Brutal Kunnin and Warboss are good, the problem is that his biggest strength (Ork black humor) is very unique, and he decided to make more serious stuff.
I also heard pretty bad reviews about his Dark Eldar in his third Ork book; some authors just can't write antagonists to save their lives.

Lets be honest, the vast majority of Black Library isnt exactly peak literature, some are great warhammer books, but not fiction in general, I think the best authors by quality in general are currently Fehervari (whose stories are very unique), Nguyen (who can actually write conflicting messages) and Tchaikovsky (who is in another level from the typical BL writer, being a Hugo winner and all), all of which got limited ammount of novels compared to "just fine" authors who pump one book a year.

The problem with Mike Brooks is that unless you wait for a review from someone who is willing to point out his bullshit, that hopefully isn't just full of spoilers, you never know what you're going to get. Sure, some of his stuff is fine, but then at the same time no one wants to be halfway through a book only to realize the rest of it was written when he was crying on social media about something. That's something he just does too often.

And yes, black library even when good is still pulp schlock. However good pulp schlock can be entertaining without needing to be compared to better books when you realize it's just literary junk food for the most part.
