Ever since "Games as a service" became a thing.

Reminder that Radical Heights, that one dead battle royale, unironically marketed itself as pioneering the "Extreme Early Acess" genre, where a chunk of the world didnt even have textures but you still had a cash shop with overpriced skins. They also had an actual PAY TO WIN FOUNDER PACK (gave you ingame money that is used to buy). They announced end of service a month later btw.

Multiversus was always scummy but as long as a game is popular, fun and updated gamers will make excuses, and on my side, at least this is free so i never spent a cent on it. But alas, now the game will be unplayable and the only thing it has left is the shallow promise that it's not dead.

Lets hope that copium can last 6-18 months...
 
Well, on my way to play the second Nick All-Stars.
 
Assuming the game comes back, what would be a large draw to bring anyone back at this point? Would something like Walter White be the big boost, or is this entire thing just dead?

If I had to list things the game needs here:

Characters:
  1. Walter White - Meme character
  2. Harry Potter - Giant IP character
  3. Teen Titan (probably Raven) - Most requested DC characters by far.
  4. More CN picks (I would claim PPG and Ben 10 are practically musts) - Most requested brand
  5. Mortal Kombat character - biggest video game IP
  6. Godzilla/Kong - pretty heavily anticipated leak
After that, probably some more general advert characters should join. Blue Beetle and Flash have movies this year. Lollipop Chainsaw is getting remastered. There is also a new Evil Dead.


Stages:

Just take from the IPs listed above. We need more standard Final Destination and gimmick stages, so many of the stages feel bland, yet not competitive. Either go crazy, or not.


Story Mode:

They really need to do a full-on story mode. If they can do something even as simple as spirits, that would be a huge boost.

This is especially a want for me. You have shit like Reindog's Character bio hinting at this looming threat called "The Nothing" and the advertising for the game claiming these characters are coming together to fight something. You can't just dangle something like that in front of our face and not expect us to want more.

Scummy how? It's not like they done anything particularly egregious (or egregious at all) with their monetization. Everything that's paid is optional and only exist to futher flex on other players. The worst you can say they've done was how they handled the two season passes and going radio silent for the better part of a year.
 
One thing I’ll definitely be glad to have a break fun is when your opponent comes in with a character at level 2 but as soon as the game starts, they start doing every single thing to make it clear they’re really a level 30+ playing on a dupe account or something.

I’d imagine a big pull for the relaunch would be a number of new characters at release, for sure.

I must confess, I completely forgot this was even a thing and I guess everybody else did too.

Amusingly, I was morbidly curious as to who ended up in the final roster, so I Googled it... Were WB advertising this game at a particular demographic? Because, I dunno, man, something about the phrasing of this 'People Also Ask' result from Google just seems odd to me.

I'm even more surprised they haven't add in either The Wicked Witch of the West, Willy Wonka, Agent Neo, King Leonidas, The Mask or either Master Shake or Meatwad
 
Well, they did say early 2024, so props to them to actually sticking to that.

I really like the game, so Im hoping they took care of the more major issues people were having. I had a lot of fun playing this every day back when the servers were open.
 
Can't wait to chain everyone into the upper kill box with Bugs's up tilt again. Iron out that Finn some more for even more fanmail collection.

Only Boomers know about the Witch until the Woke Wicked movie comes out (same thing applies to Mask and Neo, and no one liked the Mask movies). I can understand why they went with a mix of Millenial and Zoomer characters (they still make Tom and Jerry movies now and then), but I'm surprised they never added a Mortal Kombat character like Scorpion, who is the face of the series (no matter how much Ed Boon hates him). I do find it funny AEW belongs to WBD, and they couldn't bother to use something or someone from shitty AEW (It would have been cool to have a wrestling arena stage with Jim Ross and Tony Schivani commentating during the match). Keep in mind Wonka was more of a late 2023 movie, and the game died off early 2023. LeBron as a character was really retarded (understandable because of shitty Space Jam 2, but still retarded).

I wouldn't be surprised if Harry was planned, yet trannies and the Hogwarts shit show made them change their minds. I also wouldn't be surprised if the MS team has leftists that hate Rowling, and said lefties also support Sweet Baby Inc. I think the roster can go in different ways, but I don't think they're stupid enough to pull a Nick All-Stars 2 (unless copyright stuff forces them to change the roster). We'll probably get more DC villains, Cal Arts characters like Regular Show, and some GoT/LoTR folks. Wonka and the Witch don't seem far off if this game comes out in 2024. I am expecting a lot of live service shit, fomo practices, and p2w stuff.

I can see someone wanting to spite gamers and anyone else over Sweet Baby by swapping out White Velma with the Velma from Mindy's shitty show. Mindy's Velma would be an OP god-tier character like Metaknight in Brawl, and she'll have lines that break 4th wall, insulting players if she isn't insulting her opponents. I'll laugh my ass off if they don't grab someone or something from Aew again. Heck, they can get someone from Peanuts, and instead of Charlie Brown or Snoopy you get...Franklin (because of the new Peanuts with Franklin as the main Peanuts character, and we all know lefties love to gaslight everyone).

The Wizard of Oz is liked within every generation and not just boomer either. It's one of those movies that still airs during Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. And you're implying that the Matrix was liked by boomers? Dude, of the four, the first three Matrix are still successful, with only the first movie being loved by critics and audiences alike? And also The Mask is also liked by everyone, you're only referring to Son of the Mask, which was universally panned

Warner doesn't own the rights to these characters anymore.

Hope the new bwttlepass will give back currency (and better rewards)

I myself am happy to see the comeback. SSB players trash this game as being an inferior clone, but it's actually really fun.

Hopefully it makes its way to Switch 2. I'm more inclined to play things in handheld mode these days.
