I have a fat tom cat that decided that my house is his house. I feed him once a day and then he goes and begs five of my neighbors for food. If I don't give him food he follows me when I take my doggo for a walk. He fights all the wildlife in the neighborhood. I have seen him in standoffs with stags and does.

There is a fox in the neighborhood and he will eat the food I leave for her, except the dog food. I am allergic to him but every couple of days I have to chase him down so I can kill the ticks he's acquired. I have tried to placate him by giving him a box and a few catnip toys. He has shunned the toys and now my dog is a drug addict.

Would it not be easier to get some of this and apply it once a month?

Miss my best buddy Daisy every single day. Can't believe she's been gone for three years :heart-empty:

I recently cat sat for a friend, which was the first time I had been around a cat since mine passed. I had a pretty bad reaction with terribly itchy and red watery eyes. Don't know if it was a reaction just to that specific cat or if I have developed a legit allergy. Hopefully not the latter (:_(

Do not fear! I actually have a mild allergy but my body adjusted over time. Running multiple air purifiers helps a lot too. And I got a Miele vacuum which is a godsend

What's even more interesting is that the + (positive) or - (negative) aspect of the common human blood type, commonly known as the Rh factor, directly relates to T. gondii, although it originally had nothing to do with this infection. As with most things in life, you get two copies. People that are +/+ (which is the typical notation for indicating a genotype), which means they have two copies of the + gene, have a + blood type and are resistant to T. gondii infection, but they still have some chance of being infected. People that are -/-, meaning that they do not possess a functional copy of the gene for the Rh factor, are significantly more likely to be infected by the T. gondii. If you map out where the Rh factor is most prevalent in the human population, it strongly mirrors where cats have been known to have been domesticated.

Interestingly, recent research has shown that the Rh factor gene has what is known as a "dose response effect" this means the number of + genes effects how well it works, rather than just whether you have it or not. People that are +/-, having only a single copy of the + gene, are nearly completely resistant to infection by T. gondii. This exact same dose response effect is seen with several human genes, the sickle cell mutation is one of them. It is believed that this dose response effect is indicative of a gene that is part of the way through the genetic evolutionary process that will eventually produce a final, stable gene that will provide the positive effect without it being related to the dose response effect. At that point having one or two copies won't matter, as long as you have at least one, you will have maximum protection.

This is going to be me if I live to 40. I have been married twice, and I am never, never doing it again. I'll take the cats, thank you very much. keep the women you fuck/spend time with at a distance, friendlets.

Here is a photograph of the tiniest, tiniest kittens in order to offset the negative energies that speaking of wives/babbymommas brings:

Does anyone have recommendations for a good litter for long hair breeds?
The best litter ever is Tidy Cats Slide. It actually clumps, unlike every single other "clumping" brand out there.

For long haired cats that get poop stuck in their fur, take them to the vet and have their butt shaved. Won't cost much and they know how to do it. Takes a while to grow back.

This is one of my cats. He was born to a feral mom in my backyard, but she died before she could teach him to be afraid of us or anything else (including our cars!) so we brought him indoors. He's so laid back that he has his own fan club at the vet. One of the techs always insists on taking care of him and carries him around to see his other fans.

He ate some of my yarn as a young cat and almost died, but thankfully I kept bringing him to the vet and saying "somethings wrong" until one of them did exploratory surgery just in the nick of time.

Lately he's had all of his molars removed because of a chronic gum disease that treated his teeth as invaders and caused painful inflammation. We treated it medically for two years, but he was miserable. So a year of monthly vet trips to the big city specialist, three grand, and three surgeries later we hope he's all done.

He's worth every penny we've spent on him though. Just a sweet little snuggle bug who sleeps with me when it's cold, steals my slippers, and sits on my lap. He's my favorite of my three.

I always wanted a ginger cat. I'll get one at some point and call it Jones.
One thing anyone who has owned a ginger cat will tell you is that just like ginger human women, they are all crazy. I have yet to meet a ginger cat, or human woman, who didn't fit that description. I am convinced it has something to do with the ginger gene.

The pine pellet seems to work best for our long haired boy!

I think this is true. I have had three ginger cats and they have very strong personalities. I love them though :)

I love cats!

My guy is a little over a year now. I found him in the woods behind my house when he was between 2-3 months old. I started to feed him every day and it took about a month to fully gain his trust. He wouldn't let me get too close at first.

He's very affectionate and social now, it's hard to believe because he was such a wild boy when I found him, I wasn't sure I could tame him.

I think someone might have dumped him off on the side of the highway :(

I've never actually picked out a cat, every one I've ever had has just shown up out of nowhere.

Aww, I am glad he found you! I feel like the ones you have to build trust end up being the best cats!

We need to talk about this cat I found on Twitter. As I'm sure y'all all know cats love fiber. Chasing it, eating it (looking at you Blueberry), rolling around in it until your skein of $35 dollar yarn is in bits and pieces all over the house and then acting like a good baby who dindu nuffin.

This spinner hit the jackpot! Look at that precious little thing.
