Weight loss support thread

Don't forget to eat your veggies and carbohydrates. A healthy diet is balanced with that stuff as well. Also don't forget exercise, you don't want to be a little weak punk.
I don't, just didn't mention them because I didn't want to make a long post. The tread mill is where I do most of my video game playing anyway :)

I'm trying to get from 150 to 130lbs.
I keep working out, eating sensibly on my own... but then my boyfriend will suddenly make pizza, or buy some crappy irresistible thing and AGHHH.. before him I was so slim and eating legumes and veggies all day what happened. *blaming everyone but myself*
anyway, I was 135 last year and I'm insanely depressed about it. I come from a family that shames anyone who is a couple of pounds overweight and praises those who are underweight. I am not looking forward to seeing my family soon.

i love raw veggies and fruits, but lately i've just been getting all my calories from screwdrivers.

i appear to be of a "normal"/ healthy bmi weight, but i wouldn't exactly keel over dead if i lost 20lbs.

i'm just losing weight rapidly after being in an area where there isn't a FUCKING COLD SNAP and even back at home where it's icy as all hell, at least the temperature's not killer.

I'm now dropping corn syrup from my diet (Since the last two or so weeks) so I'm taking extra care to check the ingredient labels to make sure it's not in what I eat.

going on atkins tomorrow. I've done it before and kept the pounds off for years-- but then my boyfriend learned to make pizza dough (:_(.
SO NOW, we're doing it again. I'm actually excited about it. It's pretty easy to start and to get off if you go by the plan EXACTLY...

Despite all my efforts I have actually gained about 10 pounds since the first of the year (where I had managed to lose about 6 in December)

For all my ability to "just do it" with everything else in my life I am failing to do this one thing. Food is just too good and it's too easy to get it. Of course, spraining my ankle 2 weeks ago didn't help. I am going to try to exercise tonight for the first time since. Work is very stressful and home-life isn't always happy and food is stress relief. I really need to find a new outlet for stress relief. It used to be video games but now I have no time to play because I work all the time.

Addiction is a powerful thing. The only thing my addiction to food has taught me is how to empathize with addicts of other things.

Wife and I are trying something new. She's been making these awesome salads every night with spring mix, homemade greek dressing, homemade croutons, and thin-sliced steak seasoned really awesomely. We'll drop the croutons and make it a low carb thing. I can shovel down a whole head of lettuce and feel relatively full and it's healthy and fresh.

This is the same woman though who is always like "oh it's just one burger, it won't hurt you" I call her my enabler.

Thanks for listening to my fat ramblings, kiwis.

Losing fat is simple, but not easy.

No magic formula.

Stay away from that snake oil MLM crap.

Even women should weight train.

More muscle = high metabolism.

I'm on Day 37 of P90X to try to lose 20 lbs. Finding aspects very tough. Showing up for the workouts is fine but I don't feel like I'm getting anything like 'dramatic' results that other people allegedly get

Hello everyone, all my life I was pretty fat. I am still fat but way skinnier than I use to be and a hell of a lot more muscular. (puberty is kind). Anyways here is basically my life story of fitness, I have devoted a large portion of my life to it so far, anyways I will tell you all a story about it. And I hope I can help people along the way.

In middle school I was a tiny fat neck-beard. After going through a life changing camping trip (no molestation);) I decided to focus a lot on fitness, as a testament to it I shaved my head after having gay hair down to my shoulders. I took classes like conditioning my freshman year and had a really good teacher that supported me even though I struggled so much to do 1 lap. He was really nice and I wanted to better myself so I did football my sophomore year, hardest fucking thing ever. It was so hard being so out of shape and then doing exercises tell I puked. We have a tradition on the island that I live on where before football would start everyone would go to the beach for a 3 day workout shock to the body. Log pulling, barrel rolling shit. You know that kind of insane stuff. After that was over I got depressed, not like boo-hoo but just kind of sad that all the fun and pain was over, so I decided to join track. It was wayyyyy easier than football but I still got to exercise a lot. I managed to even meet a girl. I loved her so much,:heart-full: once spring football started after track I basically said fuck it and quit to go hang out with her for weeks on end. It was all peaches n' cream but once school started up we got into more and more fights yada yada shit happens, "you never stop caring about someone". So she was gone:heart-empty: and I had basically given up my 1 year football career to dick it with her (hormones are crazy mang). I did not lose all my progress I was much more thinner than middle school and I even dropped weight at her house because of all the time we spent outside. Some of it muscle probably. So I wasn't in football, but I still went to the after school workouts they hosted and got to hang out with my broskies and lift. I was getting sad again because well because young love and the "le pain sad feace". But I am not a jackass who feels sorry for myself and wallows in my own misery. I decided to work on my Chris Chan documentary that I hope some of you have seen. Working on it kept my mind occupied seeing the results of my labor and the support people donated meant a lot. That was a big happiness booster. New semester started, and at this point I am doing 90 minutes of weight lifting, mixed with the 3 hours track lasts. And now you are up to date.

I was 270, at my highest peak I was lifting a lot but did not really control my diet. I weighed in at 270, but ever sense going on a really high protein low calorie diet I have gone down to 257. During football I was around 255 so I am just undoing the damage that has been done. I throw shot put and javelin in track and managed to get shin splints from not even being a runner but just the really fast weight gain. I think most of you have seen pictures of me and know I am pretty big but not all of it is fat. I use to think the trick to look muscular was to gain weight but the truth is lower your fat percent, keep your muscle mass or even improve it, 1-3 reps is for strength gains, and 5-10 reps is what you want to do to get muscle gain. Strength and muscle size can mean two different things.

I think I am pretty experienced after doing it for awhile and learning so much through the past 3 years, here are some tips for gains and fat loss. (most of this stuff is from bodybuilding You Tuber's so you might recognize it)

1. Eat at least one cheat meal a week. Not a whole pizza but just like a burger and fries.
2. Meal replacements are your friend if you have school or a busy work schedule.
3. The most important thing about protein is if its safe, other than that buy one that works for you. If you have stomach issues try and find other sources besides whey.
4. Drink 1-2 gal water a day, pace yourself so you don't piss every 5 minutes. Maybe lines on the jug?, for how much you should consume every hour or so.
5. Drastic changes to your diet = more likely you will revert. So take it slow and steady.
6. Caffeine can really help you get pumped mentally, it wont really make you hyper but just more aware of things around you, make sure to not take any caffeine stuff anytime else. Like soda, tea etc.
7. Supplements are not needed, but they are convenient and I would rather spend my money on them than soda or candy.
8. Fitness is 90% mental, change your way of thinking and you change your actions.
9. Slim fast and other shitty diet things for old women is good for capping off your calories while getting a lot of vitamins.
10. Take a multivitamin no matter what you do.
11. No matter how much you lift always do cardio.
12. Drink green tea.
13. Cut all salts and sugars, you get enough from food. Unless you cant hold much water take a little salt. Beans?
14. Preparing meals ahead of time is easy and efficient.
15. A diet is much different than being healthy. Make life changes not programs that you will inevitable stop doing.
16. If you have people that shove food in your face start buying your own meals and not eating what people give you, don't know why but it made me not crave anything or accept food without thinking.
17. If you are hungry then your not eating enough calories. You have to find the middle ground while still being on a caloric deficit.
18. If you are over 30 and feel tired constantly look into testosterone boosters (DON'T TAKE THEM WHEN YOUR MY AGE)
19. Rest is just as important as exercise.
20. Read comics about electric hedgehog Pokemon for inspiration.

My supplements I use personally.

multivitamins/fish oil;
orange triad

creatine;
c4- explosive
con-cret

protein;
muscle pharm
body fortress (for beginners)
trutein

meal replacers;
slim fast
EAS
big100 bars

YouTube fitness people you should check out.

Scooby1961- God of fitness, honestly is one of the best fitness gurus, sub him immediately.

Hodgetwins- They offer good advice (for the most part) while still being funny.

Elliot hussle- He can be a little monkey like when it comes to facts and statistics (I don't need no studies) but he proves a very important lesson, that fitness is mostly mental. Promotes becoming the best version of yourself you can be.

Furious Pete- He is a perfect example of how anyone can become what they want if they just do the effort required. He was anorexic and turned into a muscle gorilla. Also his eating feats are a testimate to his knowledge on nutrition and ability to control his diet desires.

L.A beast- Not really fitness but mind over matter?

Kali Muscle- He obv uses steroids but he can be funny as hell. As for fitness advice other than go as hard as hell I wouldn't listen to him even though he does preach a lot of solid things a lot of people say.

Anyways thank you all, if you have questions ask and if you want to see progress photos I can keep track of this thread. :left:

Hey glad to see you contributing more to the forum beyond the documentary stuff. Your post was huge. It's late so I just want to tackle one point for now.

I've done a lot of strength training in my life. I do it for metabolism purposes like @nad7155 said. What really got me into it was when I starved myself from 300 to 200 pounds. Ever see a 200 pound guy with ribs showing and cheeks caving in? My body type is weird. Anyway, I went back to the gym and I could barely curl 15 pounds for 10 reps I was so pathetic. Also lifting made me uncontrollably hungry. 4 months later I was 235 and down another 2" on my waist. Never looked so good.

Anyway, all that aside, I wanted to say that high school kids should not be doing extreme weight training. The goal with weight training is to fatigue the muscles so they require healing. Your joints won't really be fully developed until your early 20s. You actually do better doing 20 reps of 50 pounds than 5 reps of 200 pounds. (Think about frictional losses, heat energy, etc.) I actually like power sets where you start off with say, 50 pounds, and do 12, then drop it to 45, and do 12, then 40, and do 12, etc. Eventually you are trying to do 5 pounds and can barely move. It takes discipline to push through the pain but it really works and you don't hurt your joints.

Oh, and ALWAYS USE FULL RANGE OF MOTION WHEN WEIGHT TRAINING PEOPLE.

For the record, I have been going to the gym regularly since I was 12. I just always ate uncontrollably. I was 300 pounds at 15 and a gym regular. (except for a few months being on my butt due to a penicillin reaction.) In fact the only time I really missed the gym was my last two years of college.

Okay this is the obvious douchebag/Captain Obvious advice but:
Just eat less and cut down on your fat and sugar intake. Worked for me so far. I was at 100kg at 1,80cm height in late january (I was even heavier at one point), now I'm at about 96kg just from cutting down on all the excessive fat and sugar (I do eat "bad food" once in a while though). I'm moving enough at work and cycle there everyday (about 5km back and forth, maybe more) so that is working in my favor I suppose (also muscular legs). I'm not doing any other exercise.
I'd be fine with a weight of 90kg.

down to 255, my football weight. Which is amazing considering I am almost twice as strong as I was last year.

I've been eating less, more vegetbles too, but on the weekend i want to eat everything in sight. I was pissed off this evening and I ate a lot.

so, i recently had my thyroid removed and have struggled with my weight related to illness for years. i'd be constantly up and down, and i'm finally more on the down trend! :D

since 2/16/15, i'm down 31 pounds. my goal is to lose another 80 by the end of the year and to add more muscle when i'm cleared to go back to the gym in about 4 weeks!

I've been doing workout videos and it feels like I wear out too quickly. Any advice?

Had absolutely no idea Kiwis posted about stuff like this (mostly post in lolcow threads).

That being said, I used to be skinny as fuck and now I've gotten a bit pudgy.
Currently at ~160lbs, 5'6". Would like to get down to 130-140, but I seem to have a bad time watching what I eat/poor people food is really awful for you.

I go to school part time and work full time so I never really have time to cook. Any advice? What do you guys generally eat?

"Before and after" photos often rely on photography tricks (changing the lighting, angle, posture, etc) to make it look like there was more of a change than there actually was. Here's an example of that taken to the extreme. Changes *do* actually happen, but they're more subtle, and you can only catch them if you reproduce the same exact conditions to take each photo, and you take them across a large enough time frame that there's like a 10 pound difference or something.

"Before and after"

Also I don't know what my last weight update was but I have not posted in this thread for awhile. Track has started so I get even more exercise and have managed to drop down to 242. I have also started intermittent fasting which seems to works wonders. Before I got into sports I was a really fat nerd in middle school and if I were to get down to 235 or so that would be the weight I probably was in middle school. Which is crazy to think.
