Weight loss support thread

I have a very, very basic question: I was near 280 lbs on January 4th when I started exercising and watching what I eat. I'm down 52 lbs as of this morning. Friend of mine goes "oh you sure that's not too rapid? you might be fucking up your organs or something."

That's stupid shit, right? Is this a "go to the doctor and make sure" thing or a "don't let hypochondriacs freak you out" thing? I feel awesome, no complaints here.
That sounds fine to me as long as you haven't been limiting yourself to 400 calories or something. With the weight you were at it's a lot easier to drop pounds faster when you start to change your lifestyle; expect that weight loss to happen less rapidly now that you're in the 225lb range so don't get discouraged.

Thank you. I have been on what I might call a "steep" calorie deficit, but only in terms of what my suggested intake is for my level of activity (1900/1500 every other day vs 3000). It feels like all I really need. I'm not hungry during the day, and I haven't been losing any of my musculature or anything, i.e. my lifts are approximately the same. There are some days where I appear to shed an entire pound, but I think that's explainable by water retention and what my meals are like.

I hope you are supplementing with a multi vitamin, shifting your energy generation from the stomach to the fat cells can leave you with vitamin deficiency if you were borderline at the start.
Also water, if you need a drink crutch I recommend a sugar free Mio water flavoring.

What's your height?

52 pounds in 5 months is not outrageous. But in some cases rapid weight loss without correct suplementation or diet can lead to severe damage to the liver and kidneys. As long as your caloric intake isn't violently dropped and you have a solid diet you should be fine.

I'm just over six foot. Truthfully, I've reduced my carb intake and increased the vegetables in my diet to the point that hitting 1900 calories in a day can be kind of challenging. I try to account for everything I eat, and there's a possibility I don't hit my diet goals every time, but I feel full after a meal, so. My actual intake might look more like 1700/1350 on some days. I do supplement with protein powder here and multivitamins there, and like I said, I feel great.

That's a solid ass weight loss program.
Keep at it, my man.
And after getting to your desired weight maintain the discipline, oscillating weight is lethal (especially for men).

Congratulations to you Kiwi losers! (Heh.) It's great to hear about hard work paying off. Love this thread.

No huge losses here, but I'm slowly inching my way down. I've gone down two jeans sizes since the start of the pandemic. CICO and walking, mostly. Oh, and spite-reading the Deathfats board for inspiration.

I eat a disciplined diet largely due to the strict regime of 3 square meals per day while in service. It is a habit I have continued despite my new country and quasi-civilian life. I find that I expend a lot of energy just rolling around on my wheelchair and have always maintained a thin figure. Also having a multiple personality and jumping between personas also tends to keep one burning calories.

But someone on here should give advise to that Russian "diplomat" - he is a pig of a man, always asking for caviar,

I haven't updated yesterday due to well, the weight not even changing. So today I weighed myself again with the mindset that if the number isn't any different I'll put it in my log, and if it is, I'll put THAT number in my log. It was indeed a fluke and I'm still on my steady stream of 1 lb a week, and just riding it steady down the hill.

By the way, leftover chicken and sesame tahini is the best fucking thing ever. I just wish it wasn't clumpy, cause I had to water it down with a Tbsp of soy sauce.

It's stupid yeah, the heavier you are the faster you'll lose weight at first, at 10lbs per month it's really good progress, it shows that you got willpower, keep going.

Currently pregnant with my first child and have gained 10 pounds. I know this is normal but I’ve been eating like crazy and do not want to gain any unnecessary weight. I have a (barely) normal BMI currently and want to keep it that way as much as possible. Anyone have any tips on how to balance nurturing your body enough for two without causing excessive, unnecessary weight gain?
You're gonna gain weight. It's just a given. Try to do light exercises like walking and try and just eat normally. But the biggest takeaway is that loosing weight after the baby is going to be hard. Give yourself time. I've been post partum for almost a year with my second and just now felt 'Right' enough to exercise and diet and start loosing baby weight. Hormones and mood is gonna affect you - that year after I felt weird and not myself and wasn't taking care of little things like diet and skincare because I was focused on the baby. But you get over it and you will get back to not feeling like a skin walker.

I'm down 7.5kg from mid April so I feel confident I'll get back to my pre baby weight by the end of Fall hopefully. Keto, weighing myself every day, IF 18:6 and an hour of interval running.

I really need to lose weight, I put on too much during quarantine. I got covid and my taste has been fucked for about 4 or 5 months now, normal healthy stuff tastes rotten or awful to eat such as chicken and vegetables but fruit is fine. I've mostly been eating takeout a lot because I have lost my will to cook since I used be big on making healthy, home cooked meals pre covid. I have been in this pattern for several years though where I gain a lot of weight, feel like shit, decide to eat right and work out, lose weight, get fatigued from constantly exercising and go back to eating shit/neglecting exercise. Never been able to maintain a healthy lifestyle and it gets harder to bounce back everytime I think. I feel gross eating all this junk shit but everything else tastes awful, chicken/meat/vegies make me gag when eating now.

Eurofag here; I started out at 81 KG and dropped to 75,5 this morning in a timespan of 3 months. I am trying to gain musclemass at the same time, is that even a good idea?

Gaining muscle mass is always a good idea.
However, do not believe it's easy. You are going to continually lose weight the first year (if you are lifting and eating properly.) Sometimes muscle mass is deceiving and you might believe you gained 5 kilos of muscle, when you only gained 3.5 k of hardened fat and 1.5 k of actual muscle.

Take before pictures in plain lighting (no hard shadows) to see if your conditioning develops as you hit your weight milestones.

Four more pounds and homie ain't obese anymore.

Then it's just thirty more after that. Yikes. Finna end all my emails signed "- ACTION, don't drink soda getting fat sucks ass."

Anyway make sure to count calories on nuts y'all. Thirty grams of walnuts is 200 calories.

Idk what to say with the taste buds, but maybe start small with the exercise. Instead of pushing yourself to fatigue, push yourself a bit and then stop and do it every day. If you can only do 10 press ups (for example) before fatigue then do 5 to 7 then stop (or whatever it is that you do for exercise). Better to be easier and consistent with the exercise instead of killing yourself with the exercise and quitting.

Well, i don’t think I’m exactly dieting, I’m trying to help ease my depression/paranoia. I read online that your diet is directly linked to your brain, and I’ve been eating really bad the past...year or so, and my mental state has really gone downhill. So I’ve been eating mainly “clean” (reading ingredients, avoiding lots of processed stuff or things without nutritional gain) for a week or so, I feel somewhat of a difference so far. I know if I keep this up I’ll lose weight, which would be beneficial and I’m sure would help my state of mind even more. I pretty much got to one of the lowest points I’ve experienced, and figured if I didn’t take action, something bad would’ve happened. Doing nothing was no longer a choice for me.

Kiwis, I'm fat.

I have a solid idea of what to do (if it's wrong, then I'll learn from my own mistakes).

Give me your advice on stopping snacking/supplementing snacking. My usual idea is sandwiches (just basic bread and kielbasa stuff). I suspect that my carb intake already adds to my sedentary life. How should I wean off it and what were your method to stop yourself from snacking?
