if by anxiety you mean ancxiety induced? Nah that wasn't the case with mine if you mean the firing squad one which is partly why it stuck with me forever.
I mean like the seeds of anxiety disorder. In my case, it was manic-depressive genetics, plus parents fighting, plus early years of Type-1 Diabetes and going to hospital on a fairly regular basis.

Last night I had a post-apocalyptic dream about the cast of Good Times and What's Happening. Never mind that the characters live in Chicago and Los Angeles respectively. They were together weathering the alien robot apocalypse.

I was in a building that might have been a department store or office tower at some point. It was in absolute ruins and the heavy rain was leaking into it. The floor had a few inches of water collected already and everyone was wet. I see Mabel King (Mama from What's Happening) in tattered striped pants arranging supplies. Everyone just looks miserable. It was so dark. Then Michael Evans comes in. Apparently he's been missing for a long time. He says that the place he was staying at was destroyed and he had nowhere to go so he had to come back. He asks everyone for help. Then I see Roger Thomas and various other characters just staring at him. And we all go outside. The rain clears up and I can see the ruined city. There's these brown crafts that kind of look like giant paper airplanes made of metal. And there are robots everywhere and hardly any people.

This isn't the first time I have dreamt of Mabel King. I once dreamt she sold me sewing supplies.

I've been having these weird thoughts lately, like, is any of this for real, or not?

Like if are you a man dreaming you are a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming you are a man? That sort of thing?

I had another dream with Viper in it which is weird because he's not even someone I think about much. We were driving around in a beat up Honda Civic or something listening to Lenny Kravitz. Can't remember anything else of it. I've seen sleeping in short bursts lately and just having goofy, fragmentary dreams.

The closest I've had to this is a dream I probably posted here at the time, when I was walking and talking in an office building (resembling one where I worked) with all kinds of restaurants and other businesses at the ground floor in addition to the office towers, even including a Hilton and a dry cleaner and a movie theater (I once literally lived in it for an entire week without going outside because you literally had everything you needed to live in it).

But there were windows to the outside so when I looked out the window, it was like the surface of Mars in Doom 3. I realized it was a dream at that point because duh, I'm not on Mars. I asked one of the dream people I'd been talking to if he knew it was a dream and whether he had any conscious knowledge of his own existence. And he just looked at me like I was a retard.

This one had a song in it, which I don't think I had before. There was some sort of evil demon or god or something that I was antagonizing into chasing me through a town like spider man so there was some sort of boy band techno rap song that was all about calling him a baby. It was catchy but I lack the means of reproducing it and it's already fading.

This one was weird. In a world full of gods that interacted with humans regularly towards the end I found myself trying to hide and protect a baby god which took the form of a small baby lamb I kept hidden inside my jacket. I was carrying it around trying to keep it away from some sort of agency who were protecting humans. There was someone who told me to giver her the god and she would protect me but I didn't trust her. After a while I was looking at it and it still looked newbown and lifeless and I remembered that gods eat stories so I told it a story but it wasn't very good, but I started telling her the story mentally and she started to grow and get a healthy coat of fur and started talking back to me. After that we were spotted and were being chased down and running, after which the god (that I named Daphne but I don't know if she accepted it) told me to let her down and she would lead the way, but then she just started moving in a circle like she was lost and I suddenly gave up running and we were captured. Then I was being escorted by the agents where I wasn't sure if I was going to the afterlife or not and then I woke up.

None of this, makes sense to me.

You never played Chrono Trigger? The dream of Zuang Zhou is referenced in it. There's also a Touhou spell card in Perfect Cherry Blossom. I think it's called something like Butterfly In The Zen Temple. It's one of Yukari's spells.

A man named Zuang Zhou dreams he is a butterfly with no knowledge of ever being a man. When he wakes up he is human again but is unsure if he was a man dreaming he was a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming he is a man. There's many interpretations of what this really means. But a scientific interpretation can be that when you are dreaming the part of your brain that handles reason is mostly shut down. Which is why dreams seem so real and complete nonsense like eating tacos with Napoleon aboard the Titanic seem pretty normal. Unless you are lucid dreaming the illusion remains unbroken.

Have you ever considered asking the dream people if they're aware of their own existence?

Try it. They usually just look at you like you're retarded.

Every now and again, they do something you can't describe.

I did a few times. Once the dream people started chasing me. Another time I was at some kind of fancy buffet and suddenly became aware. Everyone started staring at me like I didn't belong there. So I left and ended up on some bizarre train tracks then a sewer full of people covered in mud. They couldn't talk so I got nothing from them. Another time I asked a little boy that if the dream world wasn't real then how was he there. He told me I wasn't ready to know that yet. Now I want to make a note to ask every time.

I had a weird dream a few nights ago. I saw my mom and asked her if I should become a phlebotomist. She told me not to because I wouldn't be able to go on vacation much. I told her that I don't go on vacations. She said "you never know". Message from beyond or no, what a bizarre convo.

I've been having a lot of weird dreams lately but one thing really stuck with me:

In one dream, my partner kicked me out of the house, can't even remember why. So I went to live with other homeless people inside of an old mall. I slept in one of the shitty bed there and woke up because my tongue was hurting - when I opened my mouth, I saw a huge spider with hooks on it's legs and body, that latched onto my tongue. In order to get it out, I had to pull on each leg hard, rip it out from it's body and my tongue, basically causing a huge wound in my tongue that instantly 'filled' with spider guts and blood. By the end of it, my mouth was full of blood and spider guts and I woke up just before I probably would've thrown up in the dream.

Absolutely terrifying. What in the everlasting fuck was that.

Once I dreamt of my old childhood house. It was a rather cramped enviroment, my mom was a bit of a hoarder but my dad kept her in check whenever he was around. My bedroom was on the second floor but I usually slept on my sister's bedroom, we shared a bunk bed. Anyhow. Jumped from the top bed and walked around the house, looking for the rest of my family. It was really cold and couldn't find them. It all looked normal, maybe a bit too quiet but nothing to get scared about. Brushed my teeth and decided to go play with my legos, I remember thinking that they must be at church or something.

Climbed up the spiral staircase and on the small TV room infront of my bedroom door I see two dogs with human faces, they notice me and walk toward the bedroom door and sit at each side. They stare at me, quietly. I hear someone shuffling about inside my room. Get to the door and the dogs keep staring at me. As soon as I grab the doorknob they start howling and crying. They sound more human, like when you try to imitate how a dog sounds without putting much effort into it. They get really close but never bite. I open the door and the first thing I notice is how all my stuff is lying on the floor. Sets I've built, my Star Wars EU books shredded, my Xbox smashed along with it's controllers, glass from the old TV.

Notice a hunchbacked thing on the farthest corner from me. Call out to it. It turns about and it looks like my dad but with a fuck-off terrifying grin. Kinda like those creepypasta smiles. The thing is, creepypastas were not a thing when I was a kid. Wasn't desensitized to it by the power of cringe. So the visage fucking terrified me. Before I could do anything it sprung from the corner onto me and tackled me to the floor.

Woke up and couldn't sleep for the rest of that night lol.

I also have this recurring dream that pops up whenever I'm gonna meet a special girl. I shit you not, I know how it sounds. But it's legit.

Another wierd dream I had recently involved myself and a bunch of other teenagers (Jocks, pretty girls, nerds, normal kids, etc.) all climbing down a long Dunken Donuts basement to get away from some elite pedophiles who were after us. In the basement, we all huddled together in a big set of rooms resembling one of my Catholic schools while a tentacle similar to the creatures from The Mist lurked out of one room. I was huddling near one of the pretty girls who decided to hold my hands. Suddenly, out of fucking no where, we were all saved by fucking MIHAWK from One Piece, who sliced and diced through all of the evil shit only to then basically teleport us to Shanks who was having a meeting in the middle of nowhere with the other three yonkos (Big Mom, Kaido, and Whitebeard), who all fucking towered over him. I don't remember much else though, but I got a pretty girlfriend who had glasses like me in the dream. The elite pedophiles might have been after our adrenochrome, so your a fucking pro Mihawk, truly my favorite character for a reason.

I don't think this counts as a weird dream, but it's definitely an annoying type. Whenever I'd start a new job, and it had breaks every couple hours, for the next few weeks, I'd ALWAYS dream about being at work & doing my job, and then I'd wake up every 2 hours as if I'm taking my break... Used to drive me up a wall! LOL

I've been having a ton of these "someone is chasing me and I don't even know why" dreams lately.

Does anyone else here have these?
I wonder if they're a phenomena like the 'weird toilet dreams'.

The dreams usually involve a lot of parkouring through buildings (the buildings don't even make sense most of the time), looking back over my shoulder to check if I'm still being followed, having a backpack full of food and other essentials on me, and not being able to stay in the same place for long otherwise I will get caught.

They often also involve weird things like hiding in a shed, knowing that there's a secret passageway in there somewhere, finding it, crawling through a tunnel just to end up in a mall that doesn't make sense either. It's extremely surreal, honestly.

Usually the dream ends with me being caught and waking up with my heart racing.
