Welcome Home ARG Thread - Bootleg gay muppets that scare gay, autistic people

The site supposedly "relaunched" the other day, but was there any "ARG" content added to it? I haven't been keeping up with it, so I don't know if the random drawings all over the pages now mean anything, or if they're just quirky shit to make it "spoopy tumblr horror" in the absence of any actual plot development. (Am also a mobilefag so it could just be that it doesn't work on my end)

Edit: disregard this, I suck cocks. There's apparently a whole new cookbook bit and a new "hidden" website from a "rogue member" of WHRP. Still feels like a lot of nothing, though.

This is perhaps one of the few times where I was pretty optimistic about an ARG just from seeing images of it alone. The artwork is gorgeous and the characters genuinely do look like they came fresh out of a 1970’s children show. Just great designs and color schemes, I thought we would get a good-quality creepy mystery.

Was so fucking disappointed when I actually found out that it’s just some nonsensical LGBTQIA+ sperging on a boring website with no clear story. Jesus Christ Tumblr has been a plague for modern writing.

All the artwork seen above that might actually be interesting to the story is no longer canon because people figured out from the images they posted the entire story. This is because how fucking obvious the story was that wally is the actual devil by how on the nose "that's the most," image was and the others where they outright drew them as the devil only helped to confirm this assumption.

See this right here is kind of my issue with ARGs and AH they are made for the simplest of simplistic people like kindergarten level problem solving masquerading as it being for adults and spooky. The idea itself is "fine" albeit i was a little off put but how it is slathered in modern day LGBTQ twitter/tumblr nonsense and somehow set in the 70s (that takes incredible suspension of disbelief to ignore) but they spent half a decade on thinking it will be a fun little mystery of people scouring frame after frame only for it to make it painfully obvious what the twist was.

I'm going to say it but I had big hopes for this too but the minute clown put all this lgbtqi+ in it. It just broke the immersion for me. It's like fine do what you want but please do it within reason cause nonbinary wasn't even a term back then. Most of those people where just called transvestites or queers in a derogatory way. But then again I read that it will have homophobia sprinkled in for some reason. Guess it's supposed to be part of the bigger narrative whatever it may be.

Regardless did some research on this clown guy and apparently someone on lolcows.farm may have found his NSFW account. Again this is just speculation that this is him. Regardless this is some real degenerate levels of weird.

The minute I saw the art style and the LGBTQ shit I knew it would be nothing. It's crazy because these people tend to ruin their community by oversaturating their own market. Premises like Welcome Home and the contents of it are a dime a dozen now which is evident by how people figured out the "twist" so quickly.

I was one of those people (oh wow) and i drifted away from this project bc it looks like it slowly turning into "scary monster/event represents mental health".

Like obviously people are bound to lose interest as ppl move away from the "flavor of the month" horror project along with the fandom being shitty (surprise surprise) to the point there's a acccount calling out these predators within the fanbase which i'd say is rivaling the fnaf fandom when it comes to fan creators being exposed as pedo's.

There's so many out there both new and old that people are more likely to lose interest unless the hook keeps them invested. Even if you cut out the LGBTQ stuff there is no real hook for Welcome Home couple that with the fact it was redone because people figured out the obvious twist before the first draft was finished.

I never minded LGBTQ stuff in anything in fact i sometimes encourage it but as we see nowadays with different entertainment communities people use it for either personal gain or easy access to clout because it's trendy. you also can't pry some peolpe away from the fact that just because they are LGBTQ doesn't mean by default they have to just blindly support something that is extremely shallow but it has LGBTQ rep in it. Welcome Home kind of feels that way as outside the fact that all of the main cast has pronouns and either is in a relationship or has a crush on each other its premise is boring and vapid. Even in the inception it felt like it was being carried exactly like what i said a sentence ago with its representation alone.

you're good but yeah thats a good point, hope you don't mind me rambling but honestly i feel like i'm in the minority where i'm more intersted in learning about the people behind the restoration project in the story than whatever the hell is going on with the puppets but then again that's just me.

Like who the hell cares that the bird puppet is getting a uwu panic attack, show me how the project members found this shit.

i honestly feel like with how the 'arg' community is being a former shell of it's glory days many people just latched onto anything.

See i feel this would be more interesting if it was just a story. Like think about it....take away the arg bullshit, the analog horror elements and keep the general horror elements but tweak them. If this just existed like a Digital Circus thing where it's like a messed up show within a show rather than needing to be an arg.

The reason why people rag on about args especially here on multiple threads is because it effectively will go nowhere. To me personally it's a story that wastes my time thinking about how clever it is that it needs to tell itself out of order and thinks the journey is so grand that the audience has to look for digital clues across the web to see it. Ultimately what boils down is a project that starts and stops at being youtuber bait because its arg methodology gives nothing to work with despite the publicity.

You put my exact thoughts into words, my least favorite aspect of it is the whole LGBT theming, which feels extremely anachronistic and only shoved in because the artist felt like it. Why does Julie need to be genderfluid? Why does the chicken need to be trans? This is supposed to be a lost show from around 1970, so why are these a factor?

These are the same questions about dozens of dozens of dozens of things. It's usually from these genderspecials and the SJW side of the internet that don't seem to understand why people make a big deal about these kinds of things when they're in media or they come in and try to force them to be in media they like that didn't have them. The character's gender or sexuality don't mean anything unless it's a porn game and this is double irony when as seen in this thread the creator went after people making NSFW about their art. It's trying to have their cake and eat it since they don't consider that their ilk is usually the ones instilling all these things onto media and are the sex crazed "coomers" they love to yell at other people for being.

One can also argue it's distracting because this is your introduction to these characters and you see a bunch of pronouns and sexualities that don't tell you anything about them besides labels with little context.

It was so little added that even nightmind update video on it had to pad out the run time

So I figured I wait for multiple and release it all then, but so far the lore hasn't given anything interesting or new despite it being over a year

Talked about this also in the transslop thread that you can usually tell the type of person before they even show their face or you find their profile from how the project carries themselves. because they lack any amount of subtly and are just trying to cash in on these types that you see who cry at people liking sexuality in video games meanwhile they are some of the main ones fighting over what pronouns the gay robots are in the "horror" game. Can't really take it seriously when the first thng that i am supposed to be scared of is the rainbow haired FNAF ripoffs with pronouns because god forbid these LGBTQ types try to make something basic and actually scary without plastering it with rainbow identity.
