"Anime and it's consequences have been a disaster for Western Animation"

You might as well throw Steven Universe in there as well, that show had not only shipping and anime influences but also some added Social Justice Messages that created a toxic fanbase
Steven was largely a product of the previous, especially Adventure Time. Pretty much all the modern toons are products of the 4 I mentioned in some way,

Even the SJW shit was already in the previous works. Teen Titans had the racism episode, Avatar had multiple preachy women-power scenes, and AT had lesbos, though arguably after Steven and Clarence did.

Unrelated but apparently Today there's a block coming from Cartoon Network called "Checkered Past" which airs the CN city and Cartoon Cartoon era cartoons like Billy and Mandy and Ed Edd n Eddy

Going off the promos this sounds amazing, even if I can't catch it on tv I want to follow and support it. It's amazing to me that Cartoon Network is giving a voice the artists and fans that grew up watching these shows.
This looks really cool, yeah. It sucks that it’s obviously out of nostalgia baiting, but seeing as it’s just a small block on a dying network I doubt it can do much harm. Hell, it could actually inspire people to make similar stuff instead.

…still feels cheap, but for once I don’t mind it to the point of annoyance.

At least it's not more reboots.

It will probably go the route of boomerang and die off after a little while, but for the time being it is a neat thing that I hope gives some artists a little air time on the network.

Cartoon Planet is a better comparison. It was the last time CN tried to air older programming to appease 90s kids, only issue is that that audience doesn't care regardless of how much they complain.

Best thing about this is that Samurai Jack may finally be able to be part of the CN crew again as the 5th season completely removed him from CN's lineup.

I guess it's cool and all but did we really need more millennial nostalgia pandering
It is all networks like CN, Nick and Disney have anymore.

The internet stole away new consumers, and the terrible business practices all 3 have been employing for years just solidify the purge. These networks can no longer attract children, so attracting millennials is the only way to survive now.

It's amazing the perfection Western Media reached in 1990's-2000's only to what it became in the decades immediately after it. It's like going from the renaissance to modern art in a decade.

My only issue is with the naming, "Checkered Past". Yes, it's in reference to the checkered look of CN back in the day, but the phrase "checkered past" is that of shady stuff in one's life that you need to be wary of. The double-meaning makes me think Cartoon Network didn't think that through, or they're trying to find excuses to distance themselves from the past.

I think Barbara Gordon, for being a touted as a feminist icon and disability representation, has not been a relationship with another woman. That still has stopped wank art for coomers or writers from obscure websites wanting Barbara to get with Ivy since those two apparently had "some moments" in an issue of the Batgirl Rebirth series.
Are you sure? I swear I remember one comic having her and Black Canary kissing after one of them almost drowned.

Edit: Nevermind, it was just a suggestive looking page.

That's only because they can barely make anything good anymore. Somehow Disney is making better cartoons than the other two. Nick ran SpongeBob into the ground and I don't know what the fuck CN is doing anymore.

Teen Titans fandom did always have insane drama, but it was pre-social media, so it feels like it was comparatively contained to like... DeviantArt. I don't know if I've seen people in the industry cite it as a reference much, not as much as they're inspired by specific animes and Adventure Time.

I think it was a very early example of trying to blend episodic and long-form narrative storytelling. They had five episodes a season that told an arc; everything else could be replayed in any order, so it attracted both casual and fanatic audiences.

This I remembered back in the mid-2000s. A lot of cartoon forums go batshit insane over Teen Titans and using it as some religion of theirs.

Gravity Falls and Amphibia. While many associated with it are trashfires both shows are good and while I remain on the fence on Amphibia's ending taken outside of everything else going "we need that anime audience!" it is a fine conclusion

Mable was the worst character in Gravity Falls and was arguably a side character in comparison to Dipper, whereas Amphibia was just annoying from start to finish

She was not the worst (especially when one of the others both intended to commit cannibalism and selling out to extra dimensional demons) but she was debatably the least needed which I think might be what you mean. Theoretically you could have done all of that with Dipper alone. But I don't think it would have worked as well without her.

You're entitled to your opinions about Amphibia.

Teen Titans was a Tumblr/YouTube AMV darling, along with Avatar The Last Airbender, Total Drama and later Adventure Time. These fandoms mostly consisted of shippers. Teen Titans had Beast Boy and Raven, Avatar had Katara and Zuko, Total Drama had many with most relating to Duncan in some way, then finally we have AT which was a race for Finn to either get with PB or Marceline. Not sure how the whole Bubbline thing started for AT as that ship was pretty much non-existent in the early years from what I recall, then suddenly became the largest in the later seasons.

As for the sources, it is pretty obvious that Avatar opened up the way for western anime and most have been trying to one-up it in being the "deep" children's cartoon even if they won't admit it. Teen Titans and Total Drama just laid the foundation for general Tumblr content, the very community the bulk of writers are/were apart of that gave them a start.

Nick is 100% relying on nostalgia nowadays between Rugrats, SpongeBob, The Fairly Odd Parents and Avatar being their entire content pool. The only "new" series is The Loud House, which was 2016.

CN got absorbed by Warner, and since WB is a train wreck they are taking CN out with them. I don't think CN has had a new show for over a year at this point as the brand crumbles for Cartoonito and an Adult Swim expansion. Hell, most of AS's new content was intended for CN, such as My Adventures With Superman.

I consider it one of the 4 horseman of bringing animation down. The other three are easily Avatar, Total Drama and Adventure Time. All 4 are great in their own right, but opened a Pandora’s box of shipping, lore sperging, anime influence, and “mature” animation fan fandoms.
I completely understand the other three but Total Drama? For stupid ship drama and inserting poorly disguised fetish bait in kid's shows?
