Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I do love how instead of making more original stuff that's interesting and unique to compete with anime, studios are instead going 'let's make *insert popular media here* but ANIME. Forgetting to actually insert everything that makes anime popular beyond the artstyle.

Some of these are pretty promising. Go-go Mystery Machine is basically being compared to The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo and Yo-kai Watch, Adventure Time: Side Quests seems to be following the early days of the IP before the "modern animation rot" it birthed into the industry set in, and the fact that they're still interested in the Regular Show IP is good.

I'm kind of disappointed that they're still developing preschool shows (Foster’s Funtime for Imaginary Friends, Adventure Time: Heyo BMO, and that untitled Barbara Throws a Wobbler project) but I suspect that, if the rumors about CN wanting to ditch preschool animation is true, these will probably be a 1-season-and-done sort of situation like Craig of the Creek spin-off was.

The Adventure Time Movie (and no, it'll be a made-for-TV movie just like Steven Universe: The Movie was) fills me with dread. Having Rebecca Sugar ,a showrunner that basically broke her own mind and spirit whilst working on SU, as creator is bad enough but adding Muto just adds premium gasoline to the dumpster fire. The only saving grace is that Patrick McHale also working on it but the combination of Sugar and Muto may be too overpowering.

>another fucking diversity hire character shoehorned into Scooby-Doo

I'm so fucking tired, Kiwis.....

Because you know, the one thing the Japanese absolutely adore is niggers.
If it's a new character and not an example of blackwashing (or a sad attempt to be better than the characters who came first looking at you jigaboo from nu fop hazel) I might cut this new character some slack..but I'm not holding my breath it'll be even remotely restrained until the shows either released or leaked.

In other words. The rugrats vacation special is still on YouTube. viacoms leaving it alone oddly enough maybe cause neither nick or viacom wanna air this episode or distribute it on streaming due to having a lincsenced song in it.

Funny the last time nick homaged the relics of days long gone that are those orange vhs tapes...was in static cling. The one memorable moment worth remembering.

How long until this is a tax write off too?
I've been interested in The Day The Earth Blew Up in part because it's a Looney Tunes movie that not only has no A-List celebrities in the cast, unless you count Peter MacNicol, but is also the first fully 2D movie in the franchise's 95 years of existence. The movie was made by people from the Looney Toons Cartoon show, and not a committee of LA hack writers who've never had anything to do with animation before, or some hack comedians who were able to get their foot in the door via nepotism.
The movie people are still looking for a US distributor but it was screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the reactions from the audience seem to have been mostly positive.

It's not the presence of a NEGRO character in a reboot that irritates me, it's that this character looks the typical token black character you've seen in animation since the 2000s, the inoffensive, wimpy black nerd.
The boondocks was the only show unafraid to portray the porch monkeys as the uncivilized savages they are.

The wimpy black nerd is a rare specimen of "Nobel savage." They do exist buy they're only slightly less rare than "honorable jews."

Fuck you jew tube for blocking this outside your site.

Speaking of porch monkeys....

Speaking of Gravity Falls, apparently Disney is in talks with Hirsch on a possible revival of the show.

What's the idea, I wonder? The Pines Twins in adulthood, or what? I fear what could be. Considering Hirsch is a TDS sufferer, I can only imagine a plot involving Trump...
