Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

I watched Batman the Animated Series, and while the show is beautifully animated and it has great music and good character designs, it is incredibly retarded. It has so many lengthy exposition dumps that are ultimately unnecessary. I have known the backstories and basic tropes of all of Batman's rogue gallery since I was young, and any kid who would care enough to watch a Batman cartoon would as well. The rest of the exposition covers things that should be naturally revealed later on; it would be far more engaging and exciting if that happened. It's weird how a show can be so close to quality yet so far, and it's weird that this is the show that kickstarted the "animation can be mature" trend when the "mature themes" it presents are things that lots of cartoons have covered with the same depth. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command had both more engaging stories and deeper themes with a similar style.

Also, Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future is a great show. I have no idea why I have never heard anyone else mention it before; it's well-written and it does almost everything correctly. THIS is how you do mature animation.

Temporal arrogance. Back in the day, BTAS actually invented a lot of those backstories and tropes (Freeze and Harley being the most famous). Unless you're proposing time traveling children, no a lot of kids watching the show back then wouldn't have known that stuff because it didn't exist yet.

Especially as the previous Batman in pop culture was the Adam West series so the animated show had to distinguish itself from that show's tropes and backstories.

Oh god, not again.

Two things. I forgot how massive they made this doe’s ass, I would be disappointed but not surprised if Open Season was anyone’s furry awakening. And only fawns have spots on their coats. So either someone didn’t do the bare minimum research, or we’re going to have child characters talking about sex again.

Kinda unrelated but I was reading the 1985 rocket raccoon miniseries by Bill mantlo when I got this idea.

What if there was a rocket raccoon show on Disney Plus, four episodes long like the comic but it's animated to look like an 80s Saturday morning cartoon?

And the twist is the final episode reveals it's actually fake memories implanted on rocket by the kree Ala wolverine and the weapon x program. When they were creating him according to the mcu.

Well too bad Netflix goes and pulls this crap. Between this and that garbage fox created called house broken, it feels like the concept of a "funny animal cartoon" Is ruined forever.

They already did a show for pedos and now here's a show for zoos.

These niggas always remove the good shit and then make this. Streaming and it's consequences have been a disaster for the human race.

One the most basic facts about American “adult animation” is that networks will only produce it if the art is bad - that excuses any "sexual" content and more importantly, it doesn't "distract" from the writer's scripts full of awesome jokes if the art styles were actually aesthetically pleasing.

Anyone watch common side effects yet? I'd only give it a chance because it's Mike judge.

A friend was heavily encouraging me to see Pantheon too but I dunno if it's my jam.

So this is interesting.
TL;DW A movie from china (Ne Zha 2) has made $2,164,080,000 in the box office (with a budget of $80 million [in US dollars]). Which is insane as this is just profits made within China's homeland, not anywhere else in the world yet. On top of that, this is the first and only animated film to reach $2 Billion dollars in profits, it is currently the 5th highest grossing film of all time (right behind Titanic) and the #1 highest grossing animated film of all time.

All this to say is that China (and Nips in general) has completely BTFO of Disney and all the other western schlock that has been shit out by Hollywood as of late, and that foreigners are capable of producing big budget films that rivals anything from the US. If I were Jewish, I'd be paying very close attention to what's going on in foreign lands right now if this is any indicator (or just go back to another drug binge).

Here's the trailer for it if you're curious:

I heard this movie was literally government-mandated that everyone had to go see it. Any truth to it?
