What are some Youtuber gimmicks that make you instantly dislike them or their content?

throwing a tantrum about some blemish on his face
Face fags deserve every comment about their appearance. You chose to show yourself on video when it added nothing to the content, now suffer the consequences.

Poor audio mixing, quality and fake voices. The type where they speak in a lower/deeper tone than what their natural voice does, it just comes off as insecure and it's offensive to my ear drums. You have the Internet at your disposal, take the time to learn what makes a microphone good and how to set it up so that you're getting the most out of it.

Troon voice. I know, that’s a given, but I cannot fucking stand when I see a video on an interesting subject pop up in my recommended only to open it and be met with some nasally autist with a falsetto and forced lisp. If I open your video and hear troon voice or see gay troon jokes, that’s an instant dislike + don’t recommend channel + close video. It got so bad that one horror YouTuber I watch recently started speaking in a more natural tone (using his normal speaking voice instead of deepening it slightly, which is also annoying but I digress) and I got worried I had missed a trooning announcement.

Also, there’s this strange trend I’ve noticed recently of half-assed video essays with titles like “Was (beloved old thing) REALLY that good?” and the entire video is just some cocksucking contrarian faggot trying to ruin everyone else’s fun. I instantly hate these videos on sight. At least the alternative “Was (widely criticized old thing) REALLY that bad?” can give me a new appreciation for something I might’ve written off previously. The former is just gay and is probably a psyop meant to ruin memories of good things. No, you soulless fuck, the things I like from the past aren’t actually shit and if I decide they are than it’ll be because of my own retrospection, not a bland, inoffensive, retarded corpo-loving sperg trying to gaslight me into thinking a certain way.

Vague clickbaity titles like "The of X" or "X changed my life". Just say what you want to say. Also all AVGN wannabes sound like parodies of him by acting more upset than he does about video games.

Sometimes I watch short bits of lets plays before I buy a game, or just to see what the whole deal is with a game I'm not interested in actually playing.

I hate, *haaateee* whenever dumbfucks do the 2010 let's player thing of naming inanimate objects/side characters and spend half the fucking video dicking around with them.

In general a decent let's player is hard to find because I swear to god half of them are DSP levels of bad at games, then another third is too fucking annoying to tolerate for even a second.
Adding to that "ohh uuuhh it's hard to commentate and play at the same time!" no, it's not, you're just a retard. I can keep up with whatever schlock my girlfriend is watching, have a conversation with her and smacking out top 5% matches at the same time. Either you're fucking retarded or just bad at the game.

Dunno if its a "gimmick" per se, or if it immediately makes me dislike the content... but when I'm watching a video and it goes into tons of largely irrelevant history.

It's most common with game reviews. Like I watched a Tears of the Kingdom criticism and it had to begin with dick-sucking about how great Ocarina of Time was, and I was like "why the fuck do I care?"

Several things.

1) having the Amish “JonTron” style beard that’s just a chinstrap with no mustache, so many gamer Youtubers have this look. If you can’t grow a mustache just shave the beard!

2) basically summarizing Reddit posts and making a “5 CRAZIEST Penis Inspection stories!” style video

3) begging people to smash the ‘like’ button and subscribe

4) Pajeet accents in a “How-To” video, need I say more?

5) people who post reviews of games or toys or whatever and don’t even have a rough outline of the points they want to hit, so the video is just “yeah so this part is cool, oh and this part is cool too and…uhh…like…uhhh” for ten minutes

6) Yongyea

7) video thumbnails where someone is being mocked or derided, so they photoshop a picture of them to be missing teeth or have boogers in their nose or other gross shit

- When youtubers change the thumbnail of a video every day in the first few days after uploading.
- When the video cuts every 2-5 seconds to cater to the zoomer's attention span.
- Shorts that are just 1 minute cut from a video. No context, even the last sentence gets cut midway, so you are forced to watch the shitty 30 minute video.
- SponsorBlock makes this bareable, but before I started using it, I hated youtubers placing their ads right before something interesting happens.

"I dont think I can pronounce that"
"Sorry if I butcher that pronunciation"
"I wont even try to pronounce that"
Yeah we get it, your are too dumb/lazy to use the IPA.
This stick is funny with weird Gallic or Finnish words but most of the time its just forced for a laugh and because the idiot behind the mic cant be bothered to look up the pronunciation.

True Crime channels that put their own face in the thumbnail. It’s a surfers way to tell that the video is gonna be dogshit.
I've been suggested true crime videos about missing persons, and the thumbnails didn't even contain the aforementioned missing person – just the creator's face. That's seriously disrespectful and it belittles the search for the lost person.

When videos do this fake, short clickbait shock value intro and it is actually just some retard talking unrealistically loud right before a cut to black. MrBeast is guilty of this and his videos are poison for kids.

I hate when YouTubers dangle money in front of poor people to get them to trauma dump on their dumb audience, they eat that shit up.

Interjecting "nonbinary" or troon shit into Sims Let's Plays for algorithm clicks.

When fags complain about a multiplayer game "The Reason Survivor is Unplayable!" and there is obviously errors in their play style you point out, but they put the blame on external factors instead of themselves.

I love SponsorBlock so much. Before I installed it I had worried niche videos by smaller creators wouldn’t be timestamped properly but the times I’ve had that issue could be counted on one hand. Sponsor segments are also the definition of useless fluff garbage. Last I checked, I had skipped around 8 hours of sponsor segments since I installed it around two years ago. I can at least respect standard ad reads even if they annoy me. When a channel does a retarded bit or skit including their sponsor it just infuriates me beyond words. They’re never funny. Stop doing this shit.

These channels have become a true silent epidemic in the past few years and unless you tailor your recommendations very specifically you are going to see them all the fucking time. I’ll constantly click “Don’t recommend this channel” when I see them come up but it hardly helps since there are hundreds of these things posting multiple videos of Reddit slop every day. I think it’s because they’re entirely/mostly AI-generated. Copy Reddit posts into a TTS program, overlay pictures of the thread (blur out words that haven’t been read yet if you feel like going above and beyond,) slap on some stock music and you can easily make dozens of these videos, all above the illustrious 10 minute mark, in almost no time for presumably a decent profit. If you make this type of cancerous non-content you should be sentenced to hard labour for the rest of your life.

Yup, WavyWebSurf is a particularly egregious example of this. Hell, I watched a snippet of his last video and several times the way his script was written it strongly indicated to me that it was written by AI.

Entertainment in the internet has become worse than TV ever was. If you thought the people behind your screen were fake and plastic, youtubers have become twice as phony. It all starts coming together when you realize the bigger youtubers had always had either strong financial backing since the beginning via wealthy families or outright nepotism.

"Content", as they like to call it, sounds way more formal than "videos". It's a convenient way to disguise what your "work" really is. Someone filming themselves dancing is not the same as another filming a documentary, but both of them will call their stuff "content", and expect to be compensated for it.

Speaking of youtube documentaries...

When i think about what makes a good documentary, i think about a filming team heading into the grill where the meat's cooking. They have previous knowledge of the topic they're covering. They interview experts on the matter, they tend to bring multiple angles and people with different takes, if the doc is about someone, they try to interview people related to them, maybe even bring the actual person in. Overall, when you finish watching a good documentary, you feel like you've learned something new.

Clipping easily attained footage together and describing what happens in it for 2 hours is far from what comes to mind when i think about good documentaries. That's, at best, a recap.

Parasocialism is a sad phenomenon, kids want to have friends, they want to feel loved, they want to live in a community where they can exist comfortably and be social. I feel bad for them, but for youtubers, this is *the* moneymaker. Once they finally grasp having "the best community in youtube", they know these kids and/or mentally stunted adults become walking wallets. Only times parasocialism becomes a problem is when it affects *them* directly. Make no mistake, they will never acknowledge their reaping what they harvested, no, the issue will always be "they shouldn't be getting close to me unless they got paper in hand." Sometimes they'll even say this out in the open like that one bald twitch guy stuttering on mic about how he suffered from God Complex in front of a silent audience. He mentioned believing he was above the people in the audience.

Say what you want about fake TV hosts, at least they'd charismatic enough to make a pseudo supervillian speech like that entertaining.

Being a youtuber means you are one step closer than the average person in becoming a pedophile. This is universal and applies to every single one, even the "based" ones. If you're a big time youtuber i can say with 100% certainty you have already fingered at least one child. And even this is worse when compared to the TV/Big media child affairs. Those pedos had islands, degenerate clubs and other sick shit you could write novels about, fucking youtubers have texts. Can't even make that shit intriguing.

Im going back to radio. Art Bell left us too early
